"Sheboygan, We've Got a Problem"Wisconsin, gateway to the stars? Wisconsin legislators are promoting a plan to create a spaceport in the country's top cheese-making state. Plan is not to use much state money, just serve as a lauchpad, as it were, for the growing, private-sector space-truckin industry. Godspeed, Cheeseheads. posted by Dr. Reo Symes at 05:45 PM

Aren't equatorial launchsites preferable for some reason? Posted by: Eric J on October 23, 2005 05:59 PM
Yeah, I think they take advantage of the earths spin. The speed of the spin is higher at the equator, hence our spaceports have tended to be in the south. Posted by: Scott Free on October 23, 2005 06:21 PM
They are just interested in strip mining the moon for its green chesse. Posted by: caspera on October 23, 2005 07:07 PM
Plus, have you been in the Great Lakes area in winter? Nasty does not begin to describe it. Posted by: Mikey on October 23, 2005 07:07 PM
Look, when you're struggling back to the solar system at half impulse with one tachyon generator out and half the pods in your ship shut down due to a nasty run-in with Nurthian Pirates in the Andromeda Sector, it gives you little comfort to know you will be putting your crippled StarCruiser in the hands of a bunch of cheeseheads. I mean, do any of them even know how to weld a solid astro-steel joint ? Posted by: Carl in N.H. on October 23, 2005 07:13 PM
Plus, have you been in the Great Lakes area in winter? Nasty does not begin to describe it. Why? Does the cold air make your already tiny wee wee shrink to near invisibility? Posted by: on October 23, 2005 07:43 PM

This would totally ROCK! At last, I would be about to see this cool shit, since I refuse to go to [shutter] Flordia. Posted by: Sinner on October 23, 2005 08:29 PM
Dr. Symes, Hey, it could happen. There is much more to Wisconsin than just cheese. There's beer. Ice fishing. Beer. Sausage. Beer. Polka. Snow-mobiling. Beer. And of course, beer. So, it could happen in Wisconsin. Just as long as space travel had something to do with snow, ice, and beer. And sausage. And polka. Did I mention beer? Why? Does the cold air make your already tiny wee wee shrink to near invisibility? Like a frightened turtle. Posted by: scott on October 23, 2005 08:58 PM
The reason they go ice fishing in the winter (dumbest sport ever) is because it's the only time of year you can go outside. In the summer, the mosquitos and blackflies are swarming and they are about the size of hummingbirds. Otherwise, it's a really great state. Posted by: Michael on October 23, 2005 09:32 PM
Hey, all you homos! Am I the only one concerned that Ace is lying somewhere with an icepick sticking out of his back? Posted by: on October 23, 2005 09:33 PM
Yes. Posted by: Homo on October 23, 2005 09:34 PM
Why? Does the cold air make your already tiny wee wee shrink to near invisibility? No, but it makes my O-rings contract, leading to hot gas leakage and eventual blowout. Posted by: Anonymouse on October 23, 2005 10:00 PM

Launch pads are obsolete. We need a space elevator. Posted by: someone on October 23, 2005 10:37 PM
Go piss up a rope, BrewFan. We Michiganders can take the cold. And the snow. And the ice. But can a space rocket? One little hunk of the Owens-Corning go wrong and your space shuttle is a flyin' coffin. Plus, you cheeseheads have this wierd thing for cows, and that ain't right. Posted by: Mikey on October 23, 2005 10:54 PM
As a former cheesehead now living in Hawaii, I can assure you there is much more to Wisconsin than beer, brats, and cheese. To wit: The biggest, meanest, ugliest lesbians I've ever seen - thank-you Madison. Posted by: Allen on October 23, 2005 11:22 PM
I'm a former Michigander (Ann Arbor), so I can identify with Mikey. And I just want to second his sentiment: Piss up a rope, Brewfan. In fact, EAT ME, buddy, yeah, EAT ME. Posted by: Michael on October 23, 2005 11:43 PM
Madison = Berkeley of the mid-west Moonbats abound, but the best gyros I ever had was in Madison. Posted by: Purple Avenger on October 23, 2005 11:49 PM
Well, to tell you the truth, it wasn't just Ann Arbor. I also lived for several years in a trailor park in Ypsilanti (Ypsi Mobile Village on E. Michigan Ave., to be precise). I'm telling you this because I want to be totally honest, and I know you are all kind people who will not use this against me in the next flame thread. Posted by: Michael on October 23, 2005 11:49 PM
Well, if you want full disclosure, my trailer trash pedigree is more extensive. After graduating from UM, I got that trailer hauled to the Chicago area where I studied law. So I learned about the law. And I learned that you can get to know a lot of remarkably interesting and intelligent people in trailer parks. Back then, I vowed to myself that I don't ever want to wake up and find out that everyone I care about has a six figure income and a graduate degree. I'm keeping that vow. Stupid fucking UPI, Sheboygan would be the state's CAPE CANAVERAL... ain't shit that takes off from Houston. Fucking MSM at it again. Hmmm... maybe that was a little harsh. Posted by: Mark V. on October 24, 2005 12:11 AM
So what happens to space travel once the creature eats Sheboygan? (Anybody getting that reference is just as sad a geek as I am, neener.) Posted by: Misha I on October 24, 2005 12:14 AM

I also lived for several years in a trailor park in Ypsilanti (Ypsi Mobile Village on E. Michigan Ave., to be precise). [snort!] Plus, you cheeseheads have this wierd thing for cows, and that ain't right. I've been to Michigan and I don't know how you would know the difference between a cow and a woman. Dr. Symes - Come. Smell our dairy air. Yours &c, Cheeseheads. Posted by: Cheeseheads on October 24, 2005 07:20 AM

Ypsi Mobile Village What the hell is that, some diorama you made in 7th grade? Posted by: Dave in Texas on October 24, 2005 10:06 AM
Geek reporting for duty, My Emperor. BrewFan - we call them "snow cows" over here. Too much snow, snackin' and Oprah ain't good for their figures. Posted by: Mikey on October 24, 2005 10:06 AM
Sinner, No, not bad. But not exactly rocket science, either. Full disclosure, I often go to Wisconsin. True. I like Wisconsin. I do. Really. Especially, the beer, sausage, polka, and beer. Hey, during the 7th inning stretch at Miller's Park (where the Milwaukee Brewer's play baseball), after the crowd is treated to America the Beautiful it hears...Roll Out the Barrell and AS AN ADDED BONUS...People dance polka-style on top of the dugouts! !! Just sayin'. Posted by: MeTooThen on October 24, 2005 10:23 AM
What the hell is that Ypsi Mobile Village is the actual name of a trailor park I once called home that used to be in Ypsilanti, Michigan many years ago. "Ypsi" is locally the common shorthand for Ypsilanti (named after some famous Greek guy), which is just east of Ann Arbor. Posted by: Michael on October 24, 2005 11:25 AM
Ann Arbor That would be a great name for a chick secret agent. Posted by: Dave in Texas on October 24, 2005 11:30 AM
Been to both MI and WI. Both great states! Love fishing on the lakes in summer and snowmobiling on those frozen f'ers in the winter. Been on a couple of great benders in Madison, WI. And 'mobile home villages' are the single greatest bastion for prostitutes, pedophiles, and pushers. Not to mention favorite targets fer tornaders! The shanty villages on the west side of the river ain't got shit on trailer parks. Posted by: compos mentis on October 24, 2005 11:36 AM
Isn't there a musical about a spaceport in Wisconsin? Posted by: sentinel on October 24, 2005 12:18 PM
'mobile home villages' are the single greatest bastion for prostitutes, pedophiles, and pushers. Not to mention favorite targets fer tornaders! What about UFO's? Maybe this is where Sheboygan would get its edge in the space race. Posted by: VRWC Agent on October 24, 2005 12:19 PM
Ahhh... Mikey and Pixy Misa. I KNEW that the Geek Brigades would come through. We Will Rule the WORLD! Inasmuch as we don't already, but that's beside the point. I feel much better now :-) Posted by: Misha I on October 24, 2005 01:21 PM
An enterprising Google Searcher might find Greg Costikyan's gaming website where one could play the game online. :) Posted by: Jimmie on October 24, 2005 02:51 PM

ANOTHER LEFT WING ASSASSIN ATTEMPTS TO KILL TRUMP
If I understand this, the left-wing Democrat assassin attempted to get into the White House Correspondents Association dinner, and was stopped at the magnetometers, which detected his gun. I guess he pulled out the gun and was shot by Secret Service agents. Erika Kirk was present.

Tucker Carlson Network Trump's trolling tweet was ill-advised, but Tucker is just lying when he claims the Christianity-hating President of Iran was "offended" by this. He's one step away from announcing his official conversion to Islam. He literally never stops praising Islam. Well, he suddenly became Christian two years ago, there's not much stopping him from converting again. You can track Tuq'r's official conversion to Islam with this Bingo card.
