Bush: Damned If He Does, Damned If He Doesn't

David Gregory was pretty angry at Bush for not being in New Orleans immediately after Katrina.

Now it seems he frets that Bush *is* in Texas after Rita. See, he might get in the way.

Pretty similar to the NYT's recent makes-no-sense editorial, which also blasted Bush for... doing what it had so recently fumed that he hadn't done:

The president's recent schedule of nonstop disaster-scene photo-ops is reminiscent of the principal of a failing school who believes he's doing a great job because he makes it a point to drop in on every class play and teacher retirement party.

Dave From Garfield Ridge lays into them with the heavy wood.

Anyone remember the Times being so critical of Clinton's and Gore's post-disaster tours?

You had to know this was coming. I haven't seen it yet (probably because I haven't been looking), but I am sure someone is already screaming "racism" because the response to Rita was quicker than Katrina.

The MSM already had the game plan set. If they can find a huge glarring weakness in the response then you go with "Bush still unable to respond to hurricanes." If the response is quick and orderly you use, "Bush favors home state and white people, experts say."

If he stays away from the impacted areas: "Bush shows no compassion to hurting victims." If he makes the visits: "Bush interfers with relief effort, during photo-op trips"

Anyone could write NY Times headlines, weeks in advance. I will give the left this, if nothing else, they are predictable.

The press has done, and continues to do, a terrible job reporting these stories. Remember all those horror stories about what happened in the Superdome and at the Convention Center in New Orleans?

Michelle Malkin says most of them were B.S.

It's almost as though the media is trying to destroy its reputation, isn't it?

So. . . are you not reading your email, or is just that my stuff ain't good enough for ya anymore?

'Cause I'll just start shipping all my stuff to Jawa and Right Wing Sparkle and all the other folks instead of always choosing Ace of Spades HQ as *the* source of all knowledge.

I'm just sayin'. . .

Cheers,
Dave at Garfield Ridge

P.S. It's the verb tense, isn't it? My verbs don't agree. Dammit. . . [stupid! stupid! stupid!]

Dave,

Sorry, I knew someone had sent that to me, but I looked through my email box and couldn't find it. I searched for "NYT" and it didn't come up (you'd called it "The times," as it turns out).

I added the link to your take-down. Again, sorry. Didn't mean to steal, just couldn't find the link when I needed it.

Don't sweat Ace, thank you, much obliged.

Just didn't know if I was talkin' to a wall or sumthin'.

Aaron is right, and it's already happened.
Knight-Ridder article titled "Respone to Rita Highlights Katrina Failures."
Of course, it's all about the federal failures.
And Slublog says "It's almost as though the media is trying to destroy its reputation, isn't it?"
That would be true, if so many people didn't take the MSM as gospel, and if the MSM showed any serious signs that they're worried about said reputation.
Take, for example, their 'corrections' of reporting errors (as noted by Ace on Saturday) or better yet, Dan's non-apology and stalwart defense of Rathergate.

subjects must agree with they verbs

Posted by: Dave in Texas on September 26, 2005 01:06 PM

Maybe instead of going onsite to supervise hurricane relief efforts, Bush could attend a country music concert, and perhaps get on stage. Surely the press would praise him for that.

Posted by: Les Jones on September 26, 2005 02:20 PM

And let us not forget that a href="http://www.eternityroad.info/index.php/weblog/single/nouveau_slander/">the very same David Gregory tried to embarrass Bush in public while he was in Europe. Bush has probably forgotten it, but it's clear that Gregory hasn't.

Here's the link I meant to post.

Is David Gregory the new, the next, Helen Thomas?

Is David Gregory Helen Thomas' clone?

By the way, is Helen Thomas still alive (if you want to call it that)?

Why doesn't someone bee-yatch-slap David Gregory?

Could David Gregory's name sound more whimpy?

Peoples needs to know!

Posted by: Bart on September 26, 2005 09:42 PM

This smirking chimp is in the grand traditon of seditious donks posing as objective reporters.
Gregory in particular has decided to drink the Anderson Cooper "I'm the story" koolaid.
Hearing him on Don"Semi Dead " Imus' show he seemed rather pleased with hisself.
All the more cocktail part invites, dontcha' know.

Let none ever forget that David Gregory spent the Clinton 2nd term as a boot licking pimple on Jerry Rivers ass on the old MSNBC Geraldo freak hour.
Geraldo has "apparently" seen the light (but don't ever be so
sure) but Gregory has miracuously been elevated from a pimple to a full carbuncle in fact a bleeding (heart) hemorroid.
I just don't understand why Bush's wimp of a news secretery (Scotty McCleland isn't it) ever calls on the son of a bitch.
There needs to be a blog or a forum or a catagory on the blog or some place to follow up and recall any and all of the long list of Clinton apologists who appeared during those dark years. Most unfortunately some like Gregory have survived and in fact thrived.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
