Lies and the Lying Paul Krugmans Who Tell Them

If you haven't followed the complex mess of Paul Krugman's latest distortions -- followed up by outright lies to cover those errors up, when a correction was demanded -- Don Luskin provides a brief and satisfying recap.

Remember, at the gathering of leftwing moonbats at Atrois' political cuddle party, Paul Krugman was in attendance, and told the leftwing paranoid on-line conspiracy-theorists from whom he gets 90% of his "information"...

I couldn't do what I do without you.

That's the man the New York Times carries as its most influential leftwing columnist.

While the MSM continues to denigrate blogs and other alternative media as "unreliable" and "hopelessly partisan," the New York Times continues to employ a rabid leftwing ideologue and serial fabulist, and its editorial page editor refuses to force him to abide by the Times' clearly-announced rules of factual correction.

Alternative media continues to increase in professionalism and accuracy (well, not this one of course, but there are others I've heard about), and the stuck-on-stupid liberal legacy media continues to sink.

We'll meet somewhere in the middle.

I torched the local Target's (a very left wing company) dumpster tonight to symbolically represent the NYT's credibility death spiral.

It was a beautiful thing - burn baby burn!

Posted by: Tony on September 22, 2005 12:58 AM

Well, now he's on the subscription-only reservation with the other NYT columnists and, thus, totally irrelevant.

Posted by: someone on September 22, 2005 12:59 AM

ummm... tony? You're setting fire to dumpsters?

And this is a good thing... how?

Posted by: ace on September 22, 2005 01:12 AM

And this is a good thing... how?

The flames seem to soothe my urge to go on hobo offing sprees.

Kill a dumpster, save a hobo. Its working for me and a lot cheaper than paying a shrink. If you kind of squint your eyes and hold up a shiny bit of tin foil the flames look REALLY COOL too.

You know, paranoid ideation and confabulation are both symptoms of Bipolar Disorder. Maybe Paul just isn't taking his Lithium.

I'm just sayin'

Posted by: Scot on September 22, 2005 01:58 AM

Why do people get really excited about this stuff?

The New York Times is one ideological lie after another. Who takes it seriously?

Posted by: Sean on September 22, 2005 01:58 AM

Krugman has been taking something but I doubt its lithium...

I'm thinking he's been "self medicating" with PCP and JD.

Posted by: on September 22, 2005 02:19 AM

Well, the New York Times doesn't publish op-ed columns anymore, so Krugman is now wholly, not just somewhat, irrelevant. If a partisan hack recirculates moonbat conspiracy theories in a bubble and nobody is there to hear it outside the bubble, does it make a sound?

I love golf but refuse to buy Golf Digest because it's owned by the NYT .No $ for a-holes!
Very nice to see the company in a death dive with Pinchy and Herr Doktor at the controls.

Posted by: jjs on September 22, 2005 09:47 AM

I still don't get this irrelevance thing. How you figure?

The columnists are still in the print editions and they're free on the Web to home subscribers. We all know if Herr Doktor has some particularly resonant boob-baiting it'll be swiped and posted all over the Web.

I wouldn't underestimate the desire of the self-selected elite to hear what they want to hear. I think back on that dumbass hippie chick who sold her bike and sent the money to the Dean campaign--has anyone ever been disappointed by the enthusiasm of lefties for constant re-affirmation?

Isn't the Times simply removing their editorials from scrutiny by RW blogs?

Isn't the Times simply removing their editorials from scrutiny by RW blogs?

They think they are, spongeworthy, but as you pointed out, this stuff isn't exactly classified Ultra-Secret. I still get a copy of the NYT every morning in my in box. (Haven't checked out this morning's edition yet.)

More likely, this is just part of the ongoing process of the elite insulating themselves in an echo chamber--that, and one more increasingly desperate attempt by Pinch to beef up the Times' bottom line by playing to his core constituency. Now that they're hidden behind a firewall, I'm betting that token moderate conservatives like David Brooks get dumped fairly quickly. Krugman and MoDo, OTOH, are golden.

Incidentally, Kaus did a nice little piece this week on how Pinch could raise money by letting subscribers pay Krugman to shut up.

Typo or not, I like the "Atrois" thing. Makes him sound french.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
