Cindy Sheehan's Other Son Presumed Among Katrina's Dead

We knew this was coming.

Can I just say I was going to write this same story a week ago? I decided against it as being too, well, cruel. I couldn't think of a way to do it without coming off as ghoulish.

Ah, well. No guts, no glory.

Q: You know what is really sad?
A: Mother Sheehan might even believe this story.

Eh, I think you made the right call. The Onion usually does better. Maybe it's me, but Cindy Sheehan is just not that funny.

Posted by: Phinn on September 21, 2005 01:54 PM

I didn't see the masthead and started to fall for it, albeit, how could anyone be so stupid. But when I read the bit about coho- mercury- Bush, I wised up.

The Onion?

I thought you linked to the New York Times....

Posted by: Rich on September 21, 2005 02:51 PM

Not funny. Not amusing.

Not funny. Not amusing.

ditto.

Posted by: Dman on September 21, 2005 03:24 PM

I thought it was funny. I also think that incompetent menses and Dwoman are pussies.

Posted by: Blacksheep on September 21, 2005 03:31 PM

Yeah it was forced. Pretty weak.

Posted by: Iblis on September 21, 2005 03:31 PM

Not one of the Onion's better outings, but I will give them an "A" for effort.

Keep slaying them sacred cows, boys and girls. . .

Cheers,
Dave at Garfield Ridge

I fell, too, at first. How sad that satire is so close to reality.

Posted by: goddessoftheclassroom on September 21, 2005 04:04 PM

Lord knows I'm not the easiest person to offend, but it didn't have teh funnay for me either.

Posted by: Dave in Texas on September 21, 2005 04:10 PM

Aw c'mon !

Mommy Sheehan's lone surviving son is stranded on an ice floe ? In the Antarctic ? Because the ice shelf is shrinking from Global Warming ? Because George Bush is an evil moron genius ?

I know funny, and that's funny !

Things I also find funny:

- ace
- Everybody Loves Raymond
- "Michael Moore is fat" jokes (also works for Margaret Cho and Oliver Willis)

Posted by: Carl in N.H. on September 21, 2005 04:17 PM

Call me a sick and crazy drunken housewife/mom (many others have), but it's funny to me.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
