Giant Manta Rays Take to Air; Launch Coordinated Attacks On Mexican Village!

Ringleader “El Jefe”, leading a disciplined assault on refineries and supply lines.

Okay, maybe not flight exactly, and no documented attacks (yet), but still, ominous doins in the Sea of Cortez.

Cool stuff.

Awesome. Shared that article with the hubby.

Actually, a very moving article by a man who is in love with life. I was struck by his sketches of the people he encounters, as well as his concern for the mobulas and the health of the Sea of Cortez.

Thanks, Ace.

Well, I know it's confusing, but it was dr. reo symes.

I've seen that 4 times in the 10 years I've spent in Mexico. I'm on the Caribbean side where it's not as common but I spend a lot of time out on the water. It's one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. Pictures do not do it justice.

"a very moving article by a man who is in love with life."

:barf:

Sorry, I hate Hallmark greeting card sentiments like that. But I do love manta rays. It's a fish, and it's a ready-to-wear rain cape!

You are showing Karl Rowe's next secret weapon project. Do you want him to activiate your pain collar?

Very interesting - I've never heard of these creatures leaping out of the water. Actually, for a moment there I thought you were going to fisk this earnest scientific article, the way you did with that completely innocent archeology article a few months ago.

All hail Zontar!

Posted by: David C on September 19, 2005 09:42 AM

I for one welcome our new mobula overlords.

Posted by: lauraw on September 19, 2005 10:02 AM

Me too.

Mantas are sexy. I don't mean sexy like I'd like to pork one. I mean sexy like a sleek car. A sleek car that I'd like to pork.

Posted by: ace on September 19, 2005 10:10 AM

Mobula = 'Attack Class' Manta.

Stock up on tridents, people. The great man - fish war is finally coming. Don't think it's not.

Posted by: Dr. Reo Symes on September 19, 2005 11:14 AM

I love mobulas! They taste like bald eagle.

Posted by: BrewFan on September 19, 2005 11:20 AM

Agreed. This flying through the air isn't "playfulness", oh no.

They are probing our defenses, looking for weaknesses.

Posted by: Dave in Texas on September 19, 2005 11:41 AM

Dave,

You probably shouldn't say 'probe' in the same sentence you refer to mobula when Ace is around if you catch my drift...

Posted by: BrewFan on September 19, 2005 11:58 AM

good point.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
