Mother and Anti-War Hero Cindy Sheehan Signs with Speaking Matters LLC for Public Speaking Tour

Cindy Sheehan may have ended her summer vigil at the president's ranch in Crawford, Texas, but she is taking her anti-war activism to colleges/universities by participating in public speaking and public programs across the nation.

Speak Truth to Power, girl.

or at least speak "truth" to get paid....

I'll give Michael Moore, Jana Fonda, and Howard Dean their due: they can *do* public speaking.

Cindy Sheehan? Not so much. She's like listening to the friend your mom had who wouldn't shut up at the PTA meeting.

I swear I thought her latest piece on Huffpo was a hacked parody. The poor woman has toys in her attic.

Probably not a wise investment for Speaking Matters.

Anyone reading the Sweetness & Light blog devoted to Cindy Sheehan? She and her affiliated groups are raking in obscene amounts of money ostensibly for hurricane relief since they decided to take up the cause. Talking around $120,000 a day.

On their wishlists for food, water, medicine, etc is about $45,000 worth of computer equipment to "Help get the message out".

However, their old fundraising page from a few weeks ago asked for the same equipment for their anti-Bush, anti-war political activism bus tour. This sounds a lot like fraud to me.

You guys are nuts!
As pretty as she is intelligent, my gal Cindy is going to change the world!

Absolutely true, I compared it to an Onion article here. She wants the US to stop occupying New Orleans. Totally insane.

I've wondered how much editorial control, if any, is placed on Huffington Post contributors. There have been some wonderfully batty things posted over there, but it's hard to tell if that's because there are no controls, or because the management is batty. Though Gutfeld makes me think it all goes out verbatim.

I'm guessing Cindy will test the limits of what they wish to associate themselves with.

Answer (C) - "all of the above"

Koo-Koo Cindy really is the gift that keeps on giving, isn't she?

Posted by: UGAdawg on September 16, 2005 07:27 PM

Ace,

Here,

Cindy Sheehan has become a national symbol of the powerless confronting the powerful...

There you have it folks, in the proverbial nutshell.

Victimhood.

Nothing but.

Casey Sheehan was not an adult.

A child.

Helpless.

Not an agent of his own behvior.

A Nation of Children.

Weak.

Powerless.

That's good.

Sigh.

Posted by: MeTooThen on September 16, 2005 07:56 PM

Et tu, Cindy?

Wasn't one of her complaints that Bush went to war in order to make his cronies rich (or was it Cheney's buddies, I lose track)?

And now she's the one making money off the deaths of our soldiers?

Sounds like what a Republican would do!

Posted by: stevesturm on September 16, 2005 08:03 PM

No hyperbole in these quotes. Damn, I'm sick of hyper emotionalism and pretention.

There are moments in history when the courageous actions of one individual act to galvanize a movement...

How is she courageous? I would accept motivated, determined, energetic, etc - but not courageous.

The summer of 2005 will forever be remembered with one mother's vigil...

One mother supported by well funded, organized advocacy groups. What's the over/under on the percent of people that will recognize her name in 10 years? Maybe 5%?

steve_in_hb -- I've forgotten her name already. I froze up this morning talking to my neighbor and got stuck saying, "that woman stalker who staked out Bush's place while he was on vacation."

Did anyone notice that Cindy's handlers would pull her back from almost any situation where she was at the mic and the press was covering it?

This is great! Just think, video from sheehan addressing the American Communist Party...hmmm.

It is going to be better than Al Gore on Earth Day.

I am beginning to think that Carl Rove had something to do with the rise of Cindy Sheehan.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
