HERE IS THE PUNCHLINE:
"The patients and staff at Methodist could have been evacuated before Hurricane Katrina hit. But instead they were condemned to several days of fear and agony by bad decision-making in Louisiana and the chaotic ineptitude of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Some of the patients died."

So Louisiana is only guilty of "bad decision making"?

By definition, the reported FEMA failures are now history. The news that is being reported is that of debunking those now historical hysteronics. As these news items appear, who is going to correct the official historical record?

It is extremely difficult for those "making history" to revisit and correct. And those "making history" and recording that history are one in the same: MSM.

The Levee Board was known as a particularly corrupt institution, even by New Orleans standards.

This is the same city where the Taxi Cab Bureau -- an entire department of city government -- was arrested in one fell swoop.

To earn the distinction of Most Corrupt Institution, you have to work really hard.

We need the MSM for just about every blog post that's thrown up there. Where would you get all your stories? Glenn? Where do you think he gets them?

I think I was suggesting not that we didn't need a full-time institution committed to reportage.

I was more questioning: Why these idiots in particular?

Call me cocky, but I think if, um, we'all replaced these bozos, we'd be doing the same job, better, in a month.

The first month would be tricky, I admit. Figuring out where the bathrooms are, the best place for a gyro, etc. After that, it would be a snap.
