New definition for "Puppy Chow."

I'm sure they'll figure a way to blame it on America:

Brigitte Bardot, the 1950s and 1960s film star turned animal rights campaigner, has called on the French government to halt the reported use by fishermen on the island of Réunion of live puppies and kittens as shark bait.

I wrote about this yesterday and even managed to find a NSFW picture of Bridget to go with it. So much more rewarding than the story alone, unless you happen to be at work.

Didn't Bardo get in trouble for bashing islamofascists?

Posted by: on August 27, 2005 01:51 PM

Make that Bardot.

Posted by: on August 27, 2005 01:51 PM

For every picture like that she sends us we release a puppy.

Posted by: Frenchie Frenchman on August 27, 2005 01:51 PM

This sounds like a monkeyfishing story -- total BS.

Posted by: someone on August 27, 2005 02:52 PM

No, actually I grew up in coastal Louisiana, where there are plenty of sharks, puppies, kittens, and French fishermen. My own uncle liked using poodles as gator bait. And while it was strongly frowned upon, it happened. This Bardot story is probably true; professional fishermen can be a cold-blooded breed; when French, especially so.

That puppy could've been man's best friend...
but now he's just your chum.

Posted by: WarrenM on August 27, 2005 05:44 PM

So, Ace, are you trying to pretend that you didn't swipe this subject from the post by Dave at Garfield Ridge yesterday? Cuz, it's already old.

Posted by: Michael on August 27, 2005 07:23 PM

Listen, before you all bet too pumped up about this French slut - I was in Bucharest when she flew in on a private jet ($$$$$$$$$$$$) and demanded equal rights for the Romanian dogs. For the record - I brought home a Romanian puppy and could not be happier. But on with the reality show.. She spent a huge amount of money just to show up and ignored all questions regarding Romanian PEOPLE.

It would seem she has a mission. A mission which excludes humanity. She could not be bothered with orphans - only dogs. And then took none of them home, this is the Michael Moore before he grew up and changed his sexual preference.

This hosebag flew in on a private jet, made untold acusations and then left. Typical - just how so typical.

Save your tears - this bitch deserves none of them.

Line them up. Shoot them. Put them in a shallow grave so following generations will have no problems following their slime trails.

OOPS! Just noticed that this was a Tanker post. So I withdraw my comment. Surely Tanker got this as a result of independant research.

Posted by: Michael on August 27, 2005 07:25 PM

I find Bridget's postion on this matter much more compelling than Bardot's, but I wouln't disagree with either lady . They each have two overwhelming arguments. It's always nice to see women perusade as only women can. That's why I always have the last word with my wife in every argument--"I'm sorry honey you are right and I am wrong , can we go to bed now"?

"I wrote about this yesterday and even managed to find a NSFW picture of Bridget to go with it."

You call that NSFW? Bleh. Maybe if you'd used one of her with Jane Birkin...

Save a kitten, kill a Frog. I can get behind that. I have three cats currently depite having owned dogs all my life previously.

Practical advantage, the cats will sh*t in a box rather than on the floor if I'm stuck out on a night fire range.

Posted by: SGT Dan on August 27, 2005 09:42 PM

Cats are like houseplants. You feed 'em, you water 'em, they mostly look pretty and take care of themselves.

Posted by: S. Weasel on August 27, 2005 09:50 PM

Don't be shocked but dogs and cats are major ingredients in...

Dog and cat food. If the list of ingredients doesn't specify the exact protein source but rather just says 'meat product,' well, ever wonder what the pound does with euthanized animals?

This wasn't much of a problem until the mad cow thing got people thinking about prions in such protein sources (although that means of transmission remains unproven, especially to hamburger eating humans) and that the method of euthanasia has gone from CO2 chambers to injections. People like my sister who get worked up about this sort of thing are now hearing that traces of things phenobarbitol are turning up in pet foods.

The FDA says it should be possible for a pet to get enough to make for a meaningful dose but the ick factor has a lot of people turned off certains pet food brands.

Soylent Green...

Posted by: Tony on August 28, 2005 02:17 AM

Eh. Mega-ick, epobirs. Though I followed your link, and that FDA report details how they tested the pet food for dog and cat DNA and found none. They think the phenobarb came from euthanized cows or horses. Perhaps the euthanized dogs and cats are fed to cows and horses...?

So, anyone who went to the shelter and brought home a dog, instead of flying to Romania and buying a few Romanian babies is slime trail. Okay.

Posted by: on August 28, 2005 11:16 AM

no august, anyone who flies to Romania on a private jet, holds a protest about fucking four-legged animals being mistreated while probably standing on the back of an orphan who would love to eat the dog food that she is offering to the "poor mistreated puppies" is someone who lacks the basic moral fiber that should tell her that fucking starving CHILDREN ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN STARVING PUPPIES.

Clear enough?

Anyway, why don't the romanians take a page out of the vietnamese playbook and kill two birds with one stone? From what I hear, puppies taste good.

Son of America

P.S. Fuck PETA.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled programs.

Posted by: Son of America on August 28, 2005 11:26 AM

Clear enough?

No.

CHILDREN ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN STARVING PUPPIES.

Did she say they weren't?

Or, are you saying people must only make charitable donations and publicize causes that only you believe are worthy?

She's an animal welfare activist. That's all she knows and that's all she does. Would you rather have her pulling a Sheehan and begin foisting geopolitical analysis on us?

Posted by: on August 28, 2005 11:54 AM

I'm completely unapologetic about supporting pet charities. We purpose-bred these animals to have characteristics that are desirable for us, but make them unsuited to taking care of themselves in the wild. Basically, our species owes them a living, forever. At minimum a merciful dying. Even better if my neighbor would just get his godamned cat spayed.

As to the relative importance of children...yes, of course. But you can't reasonably expect a dog not to have puppies it can't afford to feed. I can expect that of my fellow humans. If they don't, I'll grudgingly feed the result, but only because it would be unconscionable not to.

I look at ads to feed children in places we've been feeding children for decades and think these have to be the children and grandchildren of the children we fed way back when. If we didn't feed them then, would these children exist to be starving now? I'm not suggesting a "let 'em starve" attitude, but I am suggesting that continuing to shovel food mindlessly into places that seem chronically unable to support their populations is also unconscionable.

Posted by: S. Weasel on August 28, 2005 12:59 PM

but I am suggesting that continuing to shovel food mindlessly into places that seem chronically unable to support their populations is also unconscionable.

Remember that Sam Kenison bit about Ethiopians starving out in the desert. The didn't need food, they needed LUGGAGE so they could move out of the frigging desert.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
