Saint Cindy Gains New Disciple: Holy Joe Wilson of the Immaculate Niger Reportposted by Ace at 12:22 PM

No open thread, so I'll put this near the top: Share your thoughts with John Kerry on Roberts. Hey, the guy wants to know what I think about Roberts, so I told him. I wrote "John Roberts seems qualified for the job and I hope he's confirmed quickly." Posted by: Slublog on August 26, 2005 01:20 PM
You forget that Cindy Sheehan attended Conyers "impeachment" tea party that featured Joe Wilson... they go 'way back' Posted by: DANEgerus on August 26, 2005 01:24 PM

Whatever happened to that thing with his wife? Is that over with? Posted by: on August 26, 2005 01:55 PM
"Whatever happened to that thing with his wife? Is that over with?" No man, they're still married. No accounting for taste, I guess. Posted by: on August 26, 2005 02:09 PM
No man, they're still married. So how is it anyway that a troll like Wilson snags a fine specimin like her anyway? Posted by: Tony on August 26, 2005 02:52 PM
We now have an official Moronic Convergence. Or should we wait 'til some butch activists strip off their flannel shirts and let their mommy sacks hit the ground running? Posted by: Tongueboyr on August 26, 2005 03:13 PM
Well since Wilson sat beside her and was coaching her at the Conyers impeachment hearings in the basement bathroom, this really isn't news. Moonbats seem made out of a substance that makes them stick together -- so don't get close to one, especially in mating season. I think it's called guano. Posted by: bill on August 26, 2005 04:01 PM
Former Ambassador Wilson was given the highest praise by President George H.W. Bush who called him a "true American hero" for standing down the government of Saddam Hussein when he wanted to take Americans hostage. His wife worked as a non-registered operative running a front company that was tracking the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Members of the Bush administration looked at a CIA memo marked "Classified" on their way to Africa which identified Plame as Wilson's wife and a CIA operative. Two senior members of the Bush administration devulged this information. This is a violation of the 1917 Espionage act and could be a violation of the 1982 Espionage Identities Act. These are the facts, people, and as much as you'd like it all to go away, insiders at the Justice Department say indictments are forthcoming. Posted by: Bill on August 26, 2005 05:52 PM
Speaking of Guano --- thanks for the heads up Bill Posted by: Master of None on August 26, 2005 06:08 PM

Bill, is that what happened? Thank you for telling us. Your telling of the sad story of Joseph Wilson and his lovely wife has forced me to re-evaluate my entire worldview. Maybe, just maybe, we've all been wrong about Bush. Maybe he really is as evil as Hitler, a puppet of the Halliburtons and Enrons of the world. Thank you, sir. Thank you. You are a hero. My hero. Posted by: Slublog on August 26, 2005 10:50 PM
It seems Bill still has trouble with the facts. For something to be illegal, it has to be an infraction of the law. For it to be illegal to reveal Plame´s identity, she had to be an overseas operative under cover other than temporary within the last five years, which she was not. But do not let the facts get in the way of your deeply held convictions, Bill. Posted by: The Old Ag on August 27, 2005 11:17 AM
Hm. According to Wikipedia, the 1917 Espionage Act "made it a crime, punishable by a $10,000 fine and 20 years in jail, for a person to convey false reports or false statements with intent to interfere with the operation or success of the military or naval forces of the United States or to promote the success of its enemies." Well, I don't see how that even potentially applies to any of this. The 1982 Espionage Identities Act had to be created to stop lefties outting covert agents in the field and getting them killed. To meet the conditions as a covert agent, the agent must (among other things) have operated outside the country in the last 5 years. Valerie Plame does not qualify. She'd been driving a desk all that time. A good pair of field glasses could've outted the woman pulling into the parking lot of the CIA. Furthermore, there is as yet no information that Rove was the "leaker" rather than simply another of the many people talking about Wilson and Plame at the time. Nothing other than unsubstantiated reportage by the usual suspects. So, Bill, I guess some facts are factier than others. Posted by: S. Weasel on August 27, 2005 12:08 PM
For all your parsing, the fact remains that the CIA demanded a CRIMINAL inquiry into this. They wouldn't have taken that extraordinary step if they didn't think a crime had been committed. As I'm sure the more informed of you know, they did this in frustration after repeated attempts on their part to get the Justice Dept. to look into the matter failed. As far as Valerie Plame's job and duties, a group of 30 former case officers with the CIA, most of them Republicans, has written to Congress detailing their problems with the way her job has been misrepresented by conservatives. In their complaint, they say that she was indeed dependent upon her covert status as the head of a front company. You people are defending treason. It's just unbelievable to me. Posted by: Bill on August 27, 2005 01:50 PM
S.Weasil, it's pretty amazing that you would say that there is no information Rove was the "leaker" when he himself has admitted to it. What the heck does it take? Posted by: Bill on August 27, 2005 01:51 PM
S.Weasil, it's pretty amazing that you would say that there is no information Rove was the "leaker" when he himself has admitted to it. No, he didn't, Bill. He admitted he talked about her role. So did many others at the time. To be the "leak", you have to be the first and primary source of the information. Considering her job description was apparently well known throughout the DC cocktail party set, finding the primary source is going to be a challenge. Treason? Jesus. Drama queen much? Posted by: S. Weasel on August 27, 2005 02:00 PM
Rove = Antichrist Posted by: Tony on August 27, 2005 06:19 PM
Bill=drama queen (heavy emphasis on the queen) Posted by: Master of None on August 28, 2005 01:03 AM
"For all your parsing, the fact remains that the CIA demanded a CRIMINAL inquiry into this. They wouldn't have taken that extraordinary step if they didn't think a crime had been committed" Uh, no. That's actually standard practice - an investigation determines whether a crime has, in fact, been committed. You're trying to put the cart before the horse. Posted by: Megan on August 28, 2005 04:58 AM
When indictments are handed down, I'd like to think that some of you will re-think your unquestioning, non-critical support of power. I'd also like to point out that being upset about the possibility that someone commited treason does not really make someone a "drama queen." Now, getting hysterical about whether or not someone got a blowjob -- that gets close. Accusing a president of murder on the basis of some phony hoax perpetuated by a religious fanatic -- that's also very close. Posted by: Bill on August 29, 2005 01:34 PM

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals. The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite. Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
