Cindy Sheehan, Demented LiarWhat other conclusion can you come to when reading a quote like this? “We need to get our troops out of Iraq. The only reason Bush wants to stay there is because his buddies are getting rich and feasting off the blood of our children” Well, she certainly seems to have learned the lingo from her new anti-semitic buddies. "Feasting on the blood of children" is one of their favorite go-to slurs. One question: Is heroism transferable by will? Casey Sheehan was a hero; Cindy Sheehan is someone coping with a horrible loss. She didn't volunteer to have her son killed, and she seems to not be acting particularly brave in becoming a media darling. I'd love to be a media darling; don't get me wrong. Just not sure how that is indicative of courage. But the left has decided she's a hero. A hero for risking getting her ass wetly kissed by Katie Couric, Charlie Gibson, and a hundred dimwitted but good-looking celebrities that wouldn't otherwise piss on her if she were on fire. Thanks to Jim.
...should we also listen to those who lost husbands and wives in the 9/11 attack and whose emotion-driven response was to wish for nuclear strikes on major Muslim cities and holy sites? Just curious. Because there's a lot of strong emotion on both sides of this. I wonder -- I wonder so much -- why the LMSM is only willing to publicize the Give Peace a Chance sort of emotionalism.
After all, she lost someone in the War on Terror. I guess that means that Ted Olson, who lost a wife in the sneak attack that began the hot phase of the War on Terror, should be empowered to call for carpet bombings of Muslim cities if it strikes his fancy... and no criticism of his decisions will be countenanced. posted by Ace at 02:50 PM
Comments"...should we also listen to those who lost husbands and wives in the 9/11 attack and whose emotion-driven response was to wish for nuclear strikes on major Muslim cities and holy sites?" Oh Ace, you give me all the easy ones. Of course! Posted by: Megan on August 14, 2005 03:14 PM
What's odd is that Casey was, by all accounts, a highly religious, practicing Catholic, former Eagle Scout who was saving himself for marriage. Which is not a lifestyle those around Cindy Sheehan would likely condone. So, there are some questions you'd think those on the hardcore Left would ask of Mother Sheehan. Mrs. Sheehan, other twenty year olds were able to see through Bush's Lies and not volunter for military duty. Bush's War Machine feeds on the blood of our young, with no volunteers Bush and his Neocon cabal would not be able to do these horrible horrible things. Yet your son did volunteer, twice - did his religious upbringing in the Catholic faith and long term participation in the Scouts make him too gullible to think for himself? Do you now question the way you raised your son? No Volunteers, No Profiteers! But - I guess they'd rather just support Cindy - so long as she's parroting their line. Posted by: BumperStickerist on August 14, 2005 03:30 PM
It seems obvious to me now that Cindy sheehan is parroting far left wackos who are catering to her, What is sadder than that is the MSM taking advantage of her as well. What a bunch of vultures. Posted by: Rightwingsparkle on August 14, 2005 04:28 PM
I seem to vaguely recall some people, not too long ago, being highly critical of Bush for using the deaths of 9/11 and the War on Terror to advance his political agenda. For some reason I just can't remember who that was. Posted by: Stephen Macklin on August 14, 2005 04:34 PM
As I said at my own place; Of COURSE it matters if she’s changed her tune. IE; They’d be looking at... did she get paid to change her tune. Her son apparently thought what he was doing was the correct thing to be doing. I’m not prepared to debate his wisdom here. Put another way; I’m not prepared to call her son a dummy. She, apparently, is. And my sympathy for her loss disappears when she crosses that line. I should also say it disappears further when she is so obviously taking cues from animals who were loudly calling her son a murderer just for being in Iraq in uniform. They're called 'Useful idiots', folks. Posted by: Bithead on August 14, 2005 05:01 PM
Dammit Ace, there you go, making sense again. Stop that. It's unseemly. Cheers, Posted by: Dave at Garfield Ridge on August 14, 2005 06:55 PM
So does any anti-war moonbat that wants airtime get it? Or are there other qualifications? I have sympathy for any family that lost someone in the War. I can't even honestly say that if I were in the same position, I wouldn't be attacking the easiest target to help myself cope. But the bottom line is that the leftist "war for oil", "bush is a facist", anti-Israel stuff that she's spewing just isn't something that shouldn't be taken seriously. Especially when she already met with Bush. And said he comforted her. Her son's sacrifice was one that I think we all respect immensely. But he was an adult who made his own choices. He chose to join the army and he chose to re-enlist. Bush didn't come to his door and kidnap him. He made an adult decision to assume the risk and unfortunately he didn't come back alive. This whole thing just shows how the shameful left will do anything it needs to advance its own talking points no matter if they're based on any objective reality. Shame on them. People have been using the "victim entitlement" for decades. It gives digitalbrownasshole's people their claim of moral superiority and their claim they are owed deference. Lately it has gotten out of hand with the four 9/11 Jersey bitches led by lawyer Kristen Breitweiser claiming that she and the other 3 are entitled to - final approval of the WTC memorial design, wording in the Patriot Act, Bush's having to resign or not, the 9/11 Commission, and all intelligence reorganization. Hey, Breitweiser! The only reason you are in that position was that you married a guy who liked the fact that you pulled in good shyster bucks AND because you gave great BJs, then he died...but unlike the other 2 million Americans who died in 2001, he died in a way that made him Special, and thus made you Rich and somehow gave you title as a nagging media whore. Cindy Sheehan is another Kristen Breitweiser, just as full of herself, only older and uglier. Of course it works both ways. The Right has their Cult of the POW/MIA and have succeeded in getting their stupid 1971 Black Flag flying almost everywhere as the premiere Special Interest Group's token of recognition. Despite POW/MIA being a miniscule fraction of soldiers who have suffered in wartime, and no POWs for decades except for about a dozen who had 10 day or less stays of captivity in two Iraq wars. And no MIAs for 35 years unless you buy the argument that dead soldiers from the French-Indian Wars onwards are MIA until their bones are found and Emotional Closure can finally happen! I also noticed that the Sheehan family doesn't quite present a coherent picture in terms of religion. I've read the descriptions of Casey, both in news reports and in his mother's comments, and it's clear that he was a devout Catholic, and rather an old-fashioned one, at that. His sister said so too; they even thought he might be interested in becoming a priest. His mother taught Sunday School, I think, but I noticed the way she talked about Casey and religion seemed very detached; she says over and over that he was very committed to "his church" and "his religion". There are descriptions of this close family going everywhere together and doing lots of stuff, but no talk of the whole family sharing in church activities. Doesn't mean it couldn't have happened, but it just seems oddly absent from the picture. Another thing - most times, when a crisis hits a family like this, and it's very public, a family minister or priest is present or at least is frequently interviewed. I haven't seen anything like that as far as Cindy Sheehan is concerned. I know there was a Catholic funeral at their church last year for Casey, but I haven't seen any hint that there is any family connection with a church. She does have a tendency to break off with people who disagree with her; I wonder if her church didn't support her the way she thought they ought to, and they met the same fate as her family and neighbours? Just one of those little missing puzzle pieces that I keep noticing and wondering about... Posted by: Wanda on August 14, 2005 10:10 PM
What if, God forbid, a woman were to step forward who had lost two children in Iraq? Would her opinion supercede Cindy Sheehans? Posted by: MagicalPat on August 14, 2005 11:37 PM

And digitalbrownasshole, you'll still be gnashing your semen-spattered little punk teeth over Gaza. Wish you could see the big smile on my face. Oh, and Rick, fuck you too if you don't like me dissing your hero Jersey Girls, if you're a Sheehan Fan, or you are part of the POW/MIA Cult.! Posted by: Cedarford on August 14, 2005 11:56 PM
There's lots of folks who have lost children to the war and are still adamant supporters of it; why aren't their faces gracing my tee vee? They haven't gone for a pr move like this, of course, but somehow I still doubt the reaction from the MSM would be somewhat less..enthusiastic. Posted by: francisthegreat on August 15, 2005 01:22 AM
If there were a way to actually communicate with the dead I can only imagine Casey Sheehan would have strong words for his mother. In her process of mourning she is reducing him to an infant incapable of making any decisions of his own. This is emphasized by her appearing on newscasts holding a portrait of her son as a toddler rather than as man he was when he died. Most sons and daughters are past the point where being seen with their parents is supreme embarrassment but Cindy Sheehan is making this into a eternal condition for her son's memory. She can no longer embarrass the man so this will have to do. Posted by: epobirs on August 15, 2005 03:45 AM

Would it be impolite of me to point out that, if the foreign policy views of Cindy Sheehan and her "supporters" had been abandoned 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 or more years ago, Casey Sheehan might not have had to go to Iraq in the first place? Posted by: Rocketeer on August 15, 2005 09:37 AM
Cedarford: I forgot to ask you when you're going to address the lies I caught you in during the other thread. I'd really like to know. Is it dishonesty, or just plain stupidity? Posted by digitalbrownshirt at August 15, 2005 06 It is a wonderful old tactic your ilk invented when they were running the Soviet Communist Party and the CPUSA, digitalbrownasshole...Accuse people of lies, lies, lies!! And, if they play your Hebe game, you have them on the defensive - with the power to judge - then you can punish if the defense of their "lies" or "thought crimes" isn't adequate (not that the defense matters when the Bolshies already determined sentence) or even forgive their transgressions. But the Bolshies who were your direct ancestors usually went with punishment - killing some 12 million Russian Christians for their "lies", imprisoning another 20 million. As for my address because our little punkboy wants to "kick my ass" why don't you just head to Israel and confront REAL ENEMIES? Probably because you lack REAL GUTS and prefer skulking about in the safety of a nation you can temporarily call a good place to make money and be comfortable in.. Posted by: Cedarford on August 15, 2005 09:49 PM
Kick your ass? Who said anything about kicking your ass? I just want to have a nice, face to face conversation with you. So why don't you just go ahead and tell me where you live and I'll see if we can hook up? And I'm not accusing of you of lying. There has to be actual doubt for it to be just an accusation. I actually caught you in three different lies and provided links proving you were lying, but you don't have the balls (besides the ones bouncing off your ass cheeks) to face facts. Just admit you're stupid and dishonest, you'll feel better. Posted by: digitalbrownshirt on August 15, 2005 10:17 PM
Well, digitalbrownasshole, talking would be wonderful. Why don't you post your name and phone number and I'll call you and set up a face to face. Posted by: Cedarford on August 16, 2005 04:17 AM
Touche CF. However, I notice you still aren't addressing the lies you got caught in. What's the point of posting if nobody has confidence in your integrity? You should check out that Storm Watch forum, they love "guys" like you. There's a link to it on your blog. Posted by: digitalbrownshirt on August 16, 2005 06:43 AM
"Explain to the mothers and fathers of American servicemen that may come home in body bags why their son or daughter have to give up their life?" "Bombing a sovereign nation for ill-defined reasons with vague objectives undermines the American stature in the world. The international respect and trust for America has diminished every time we casually let the bombs fly."
