Yeah I saw that dog on Fox news.

One of my dogs is blind too (but not ugly), and you'd never know it if we didn't tell you, even off-leash in thick woods.

Can't make fun of sad dogs.

I honestly feel bad for it. Not that I'd want it in my house or anywhere near me, but still...

I asked my sister (a vet student) and apparently that breed doesn't have much fur, just a few tufts around the face.

She guessed the skin pigment was due to the mentioned kidney problems.
Of course when she read that it had heart, Lung & kidney problems she started ranting about how it should have been put to sleep rather than being dragged out and kept alive to win it's owner some award.

I think its some crazy exotic breed...Chinese Crested? That explains the hairlessness.

But don't feel sorry for it. Blindness is no problem at all for an animal that can hear and smell many times better than we.
And I saw that butt-ugly thing on the news and it was fat and happy, smiling and waggin its butt.

But whatever the owners got for winning the contest, THEY DESERVED IT.

If you go one up on the link chain it points to (ugh) Snopes, which mention the health issues. "Age related" so he's led a full life at least.

Actually saw the dog live just a couple of weeks ago in the Santa Barbara July 4th parade. It's cherished by the family that owns it, and......they've got another one that was also in the parade.

The picture actually looks a bit worse than the real deal -- it's contorted 'cause it's scratching. But, lawdy, it don't look too good.
