Rehnquist: Dive At Five?

That's the rumor.

Thanks to Brak.

Also... Non-candidate candidate Gonzales says there's no personal right to own a firearm under the Second Amendment.

What was Bush thinking?

Oh, right. He's a "friend."

My friend Stinky always cracks me up during our marathon Dungeons & Dragons sessions with his pitch-perfect rendition of The Knights Who Say Ni! That doesn't make him a good nominee for the Supreme Court.

Maybe. Maybe not. Anyway, I jsut heard that Rehnquist and O'Connor use to date way back when.

Gonzales doesn't whaaaat?

Need to see that cited somewhere, but if true, it would make you a lousy Atty General too.

You think Bush and Gonzo are like, bestest friends forever or somethin?

Slightly OT but why we need a new and improved SC (the context is this ruling finds the Partial Birth Abortion bill passed by Congress in 2003 as unconstitutional) :

Judge Kermit Bye of the 8th Circuit wrote in the opinion issued Friday. “In effect, we believe when a lack of consensus exists in the medical community, the Constitution requires legislatures to err on the side of protecting women’s health by including a health exception.” (bold is mine)

WTF? Where does it say that?

You need your secret liberal "Penumbra and Emanation" decoder ring

Drudge is running with it now, says it happened

Posted by: brak on July 8, 2005 05:01 PM

If true about Gonzalez he does not have my support as AG much less as a SCJ. If this is not true, then maybe you can see why Bush , when responding to a question by the way, was pissed about how Gonzalez is being treated. This would really be loose shit.

Posted by: Dman on July 8, 2005 05:06 PM

I'm a little surprised about the 2nd Amendment thing, since I seem to remember hearing the exact opposite from him. Either that Gonzales or the DOJ came out saying the 2nd was an individual right.

Posted by: Alex_fs on July 8, 2005 05:10 PM

Word on the street is: Stevens will announce in the next month and Bush will get to pick 3 SC justices, at the very least.

Posted by: Joe Mama on July 8, 2005 05:11 PM

I believe the DOJ decision was under the previous AG, Ashcroft.

Bush said he would have signed an extension on the AWB. Gonzo is his bud. Ergo, they have "shared values". I think neither is a strong 2nd Amendment advocate.

G-man would be a squishy, "moderate", always looking for good press from the MSM.

Looks like there won't be an announcment until Monday

Posted by: brak on July 8, 2005 06:04 PM

Only George can make his presidency as piss poor as it is (in many ways) by bad decisions like Gonzales. So what we're gonna have is a Goddanm-Gun-Grabber who intends to help Liberals by doing away with abortion and creating a Media Liberal Firestorm against conservatives that'll take decades to fix again? Cheesh!

Posted by: shit from shinola on July 8, 2005 06:26 PM

Guns, abortions, preferences.

Does the guy also believe the Constitution mandates higher taxes?

Posted by: someone on July 8, 2005 07:33 PM

There's a lot of Bush bashing going on here based on...rumors, hearsay, innuendo. Take that shit to DU where it belongs.

Posted by: BrewFan on July 8, 2005 09:47 PM

Brewfan,
You know that you and I share a special bond which We Dare Not Say Its Name.

But sometimes Bush needs to get smacked by his supporters.
Look at it this way; when Clinton pardoned a busload of weasels and stole the good china on his way out the door, his own people rode his ass about it.
And that's a good healthy thing.

Posted by: lauraw on July 8, 2005 10:22 PM

lauraw,

If Bush nominates Gonzales I'll be all over him like stink on a poo. My point is, though, let's not bash him for something he hasn't done yet. (Sorry for the late reply!)

Important Message from Recent Convert to Christianity and Yet Super-Serious Christian Tuq'r Qarlson: Actually Muslims love Jesus, it's Trump and his neocons who hate him
Tucker Carlson Network
@TCNetwork

The people in charge [Jews, of course -- ace] don't want you to know this, but Muslims love Jesus.

Islam reveres Him as a major prophet and messenger of the Lord, believes He performed miracles, and states that He will return to Earth to defeat the Antichrist. That's why Donald Trump's painting depicting himself as the Son of God offended the president of Iran. It was an attack on his religion as well as Christianity.

Trump's trolling tweet was ill-advised, but Tucker is just lying when he claims the Christianity-hating President of Iran was "offended" by this.
He's one step away from announcing his official conversion to Islam. He literally never stops praising Islam. Well, he suddenly became Christian two years ago, there's not much stopping him from converting again.
You can track Tuq'r's official conversion to Islam with this Bingo card.

People say that the bearded man in the video of Fartwell molesting a hooker looks like Democrat Arizona Senator Rueben Gallego, said to be Swalwell's "best friend" and known to take vacations with him.
@KFILE 21m

Politico is reporting that multiple people have abruptly resigned from Eric Swalwell's gubernatorial campaign: "Members of senior leadership have departed the campaign, including Courtni Pugh, a strategic adviser who served as Swalwell's top liaison to organized labor groups."

So the campaign is collapsing due to the truth of the sexual harassment allegations.
That hissing sound you hear is the air going out of the Swalwell campaign. UPDATE: No it wasn't, it was just Swalwell one-cheek-sneaking out a fart on camera
Eric Swalwell more like Eric Farewell amirite

This is the dumbest AI bullslop I've seen in a while: the CIA can use "quantum magnetometry" to track an individual man's heartbeat from twelve miles away
I wouldn't click on it, it's not interesting, it's just stupid clickslop. I just want to share my annoyance with you.
Oil prices plunge on bizarre realization that Eric Swalwell may actually be straight. A rapey molester, allegedly, but a straight one.

This is super-obscure and I only barely remember it. Given that, I'll give you the hint that it's by the Red Rocker.
And I guess you think you've got it made
Oh, but then, you never were afraid
Of anything that you've left behind
Oh, but it's alright with me now
'Cause I'll get back up somehow
And with a little luck, yes, I'm bound to win

Now twenty people will tell me it's not obscure, it was huge in their hometown and played at their prom. That's how it usually goes. When I linked Donnie Iris's "Love is Like a Rock," everyone said they knew that one and that his other song (which I didn't know at all) Ah Leah! was huge in their area.
