Happy Fourth of July!

1july4-fireworks.gif

Eh, that's okay, but a little on the nose, as they say. The other problem? Not gay enough.

How's this?

a1dragon.gif

Perfect.

Well, I'm going to celebrate our country's independence with grilled meats, beer, and Hold 'Em poker. Won't be back until late.

Have fun.

Happy 4th to you, too, acey. :-)
Enjoy your bar-b-que and try not to lose your shirt.

ps: Nice graphics.

Wait. . . you were back?

I must've missed it, when I blinked.

Oh well. Happy 4th.

Cheers,
Dave at Garfield Ridge

Happy 4th indeed. Smoked Sockeye Salmon, Hamburgers, Ribs, Mom's potato salad, beans, and family at our place. Along with about 20 great friends, including a Navy Chaplain who just got back from Iraq where he was bunked with the Marines in Falluja. He ships out for Okinawa in December, where he will be Chaplain to our oldest son's unit. Cheers!

I had to work today. Now I'm sitting at home all my lonesome :(

Posted by: Greg on July 4, 2005 08:29 PM

I just got back from a weekend of acting as mosquito food, better known as camping in Maine.

But there was meat grilled over fire, so all was good.

No beer, though. It was a state park.

Well, the strikeout tag worked well in preview :)

Hey Dacotti, don't get any salmon on my ribs please.

Wait, so is "Hoist the Blag Flag" going to become a p*ker show?

To Ace, and his many, many readers:
Happy Independence Day... I hope that your holiday weekend has gone well, and that we continue to reflect on the meaning of this occasion, all throughout the year. God Bless!

Posted by: Aakash on July 5, 2005 01:14 AM

Please tell me someone caught the awesome Associated Press article about our Independence Day today. Their historical facts are hilarious. A sampling:

The holiday had special meaning for Andrew Lynch since he moved last year from New Mexico to Baltimore, the city that was the site of Revolutionary War battles, including the attack on Fort Sumter that inspired ''The Star-Spangled
Banner.''

Spot the three things wrong with that paragraph alone.

Is basic American history sooooo difficult for these people on today of all days?

Posted by: Robe on July 5, 2005 01:15 AM

And I'm just drunk enough to misspell my own name. What can I say, it was a great day =)

Full of Chicagoans with heavy accents tossing brats on the grill, drinking Old Style, and throwing American flags in every possible crevice.

I do love this country sometimes.

I see you have used the tag. The HTML police will be "dropping by" shortly.

Posted by: Slowking Man on July 5, 2005 01:27 AM

Coincidentally, I also spent much of my 4th weekend playing Texas Hold 'Em. Down in Atlantic City at the Taj.

Important Message from Recent Convert to Christianity and Yet Super-Serious Christian Tuq'r Qarlson: Actually Muslims love Jesus, it's Trump and his neocons who hate him
Tucker Carlson Network
@TCNetwork

The people in charge [Jews, of course -- ace] don't want you to know this, but Muslims love Jesus.

Islam reveres Him as a major prophet and messenger of the Lord, believes He performed miracles, and states that He will return to Earth to defeat the Antichrist. That's why Donald Trump's painting depicting himself as the Son of God offended the president of Iran. It was an attack on his religion as well as Christianity.

Trump's trolling tweet was ill-advised, but Tucker is just lying when he claims the Christianity-hating President of Iran was "offended" by this.
He's one step away from announcing his official conversion to Islam. He literally never stops praising Islam. Well, he suddenly became Christian two years ago, there's not much stopping him from converting again.
You can track Tuq'r's official conversion to Islam with this Bingo card.

@KFILE 21m

Politico is reporting that multiple people have abruptly resigned from Eric Swalwell's gubernatorial campaign: "Members of senior leadership have departed the campaign, including Courtni Pugh, a strategic adviser who served as Swalwell's top liaison to organized labor groups."

So the campaign is collapsing due to the truth of the sexual harassment allegations.
That hissing sound you hear is the air going out of the Swalwell campaign. UPDATE: No it wasn't, it was just Swalwell one-cheek-sneaking out a fart on camera
