Chuck Hagel Blasts GOP As Big Spendin' Democrats

Well, for once, the "straight-talking maverick who the media loves almost as much as McCain" seems to have a point.

Then he blathers about the war being a mess and how his patriotism or party loyalty shouldn't be questioned.

I wouldn't question a war hero's patriotism. And as for party loyalty-- well, I do question it, but that's barely even an insult, is it? We all know you're not supposed to be loyal to a party, but to your convictions.

Were I to question anything it would be his carefully-nuanced (i.e., dogfood) positions on the war, and his motivations for doing so.

Does he carp out of genuine principle or because he's following in McCain's footsteps of showing enough liberal leg to the media to make them swoon?

And I do grow tired of the media's kneejerk reaction that any Republican who supports the President and his policies does so out of partisanship and any Republican who snipes at him does so out of enlightened principle.

Maybe the NYT will admit the obvious: taking a position against your party sells with the public. Well, first it sells to the liberal media, who then sell it to the public like discount candy-necklaces at a rave.

There's more than one self-serving reason to announce a position. The list does not begin and end with "partisan Republican loyalty."

Good post, but it still shows that "moderates" have not learned their lesson. Didn't a republican senator claim that "moveon.org" took his words and used it against the war?

Well, they did, and they did not misquote that senator...So no one has learned party discipline at all.

Happy Fourth, Ace.

Hagel is dead-on about this.

This provs that even a giant douchebag is occasionally correct, and should not be praised for swerving into it.

I'd still never vote for the miserable POS.

A couple weeks ago in his column, the editor of the Washington Times (Wes Pruden) make the priceless observation on the Senator: "Chuck Hagel, who wants to be John McCain when he grows up..."

Spot-on, as the cliche goes.

Cordially...

Hey, I'm actually a Nebraska voter and I'm not voting for him next time (unless his opponent is so morally repugnant that even Hagel looks good). His comments about spending brought a loud, "Amen!" from me. If he had stopped there, I might have started reconsidering my "Hagel Out Now!" campaign, but then he started some of that wishy-washy war crap again and I realized that I'll be voting for a new senator next time.

Well, for once, the "straight-talking maverick who the media loves almost as much as McCain" seems to have a point.

Yes indeedie he does. And as usual, it all Liberals fault! For no matter what they did or tried to do, Liberals, amplified by the LiberalMedia, continued to spit shit at them, no matter how grotesquely unfair, untrue or crazy. I am positive they got tired of that kind of treatment, especially when cost cutting is a thankless job and their constituents didn't seem to apprecaite it. So, they did like so many pols before them, they said I came here to do good and all I get is shit for it? Fuck this, I'm gonna get mine.

As Newt Gingrich called the class of '94:

"the class that came to do good, and stayed to do well."

Important Message from Recent Convert to Christianity and Yet Super-Serious Christian Tuq'r Qarlson: Actually Muslims love Jesus, it's Trump and his neocons who hate him
Tucker Carlson Network
@TCNetwork

The people in charge [Jews, of course -- ace] don't want you to know this, but Muslims love Jesus.

Islam reveres Him as a major prophet and messenger of the Lord, believes He performed miracles, and states that He will return to Earth to defeat the Antichrist. That's why Donald Trump's painting depicting himself as the Son of God offended the president of Iran. It was an attack on his religion as well as Christianity.

Trump's trolling tweet was ill-advised, but Tucker is just lying when he claims the Christianity-hating President of Iran was "offended" by this.
He's one step away from announcing his official conversion to Islam. He literally never stops praising Islam. Well, he suddenly became Christian two years ago, there's not much stopping him from converting again.
You can track Tuq'r's official conversion to Islam with this Bingo card.
