A Bit of Shameless PimpingWhile Ace gets settled, I just thought I'd put up something in response to hist latest post on Time magazine's anti-American bias. Unfortunatly, anti-American bias is nothing new in the American MSM. It's just more noticeable now that Newsweek's irresponsible Koran flushing tale sparked riots where about sixteen people were killed. It's great that Ace, and others blog about it. Also, I supposed writing letters to the editors is fine. Yet the only response these editors will give, if anything, is that as journalists, their job is to get to the "truth" without having to worry about something as "trivial" as citizenship. No, the MSM needs to be hit where it really hurts -- their wallets. Most people don't realize that 95% of a magazines revenue comes from advertising. Newstand and subscription sales may, or may not even offset their mailing costs. I know this first hand since I used to sell magazine advertising. So a few weeks ago, I started a new blog -- Madison Avenue Maverick which provides the names of Newsweek's advertisers, their addresses, their heads of marketing, and their advertising agencies which place their print media. Currently, the focus has been just Newsweek. But it may just include Time, and other publications going forward. As I see it, if Terry Rakolta was able to get sponsors to boycott "Married With Children" and if gay rights groups were able to get Dr. Laura's talk show cancelled even before it aired, then I don't see why us ordinary concerned American citizens can't have a similar effect. So feel free to write these companies and their ad agencies. I mean, we're *all* potential customers of theirs, so it might just work. posted by Ace at 03:20 PM
CommentsZelda - I have been saying that for years and posting it on ACE too. What we really need is a leader! I even thought about writing a book about it, but I have too many skeletons in my closet, the left would discredit me and pillory the movement as the lunatic fringe. I've written to Rush, Hannity and Savage and have asked every major blogger and been ignored. I don't even see any serious discussion of this anywhere. But perhaps the time has come and you are that leader. If so, you could change this world for the better through boycotting the goods and services that sponsor the MSM and Leftists of all stripes, like Ward Churchill. I shall pray for you and if I can be of service let me know. PS - You should take on the weakest, most financially vulnerable institutions with high profile scandals, not behemouths like Disney where the scandals are hard to prove and easy to dismiss! Things like Rathergate and Koran-gate and the NYT publishing the CIA story are perfect! Posted by: 72VIRGINS on June 13, 2005 05:05 PM

Thank you very much, 72 Virgins, that's very kind of you. I think what you and others could do to help would be to tell your family, friends, spouses and co-workers about this blog. Now I'm just one person, but if enough people contact these companies to say, "hey since you're advertising in Newsweek" we're going to think twice about buying your products/services," it might just accomplish something. For starters, I would love it if you, and others would write to any of these companies and/or their ad agencies about this matter. And definitely send me a copy of what you write, so I know that what I'm doing has an effect on people. You're welcome to email me at either theurbangrind@yahoo.com or madisonavemaverick@yahoo.com. Thanks again! Posted by: Zelda on June 13, 2005 05:40 PM
Zelda It is a disgrace that Newsweek continues to try to cover itself by issuing conflicting and self-serving statements about the Koran desecration story. But I have to ask, what purpose would have been served if it were true? Is there some overriding national security reason served by it? Were any laws broken that we need to know about? Does this story serve or hurt our national interest? Or on the contrary, does this harm our national security and hurt our national interest? Sent above to GM, Chevy and Kate at the the hearing aid place but T roew price seems to have led me back to your site and Prudential's site was unfathomable. Need addresses not just "dot coms" so this can be done expeditiously. I even got paranoid and thought you might ne a market researher testing the strength of committment of conservative consumers, you're not are you? Never can be too sure of Liberals. Anyway, will try the others. Good luck! Posted by: 72 VIRGINS on June 13, 2005 07:04 PM
72 Virgins. I am NOT a market researcher. I'm just an ordinary conserverative woman who is fed up. Ace will vouch for me, since we've met in person several times, as will Karol of Alarming News, whose 3 year blogoversary is today. Anway, your letter is EXCELLENT! I really appreciate you doing this.
Thanks again, and let me know if you hear back from these companies. You're welcome to email me at madisonavemaverick@yahoo.com or theurbangrind@yahoo.com. All the best. Posted by: Zelda on June 13, 2005 08:14 PM

Funniest thing I've read about the Virginia mess. Back when they were hustling the referendum through the assembly both Senators, Warner and Kaine, advised them to go slow and play by the rules. Louise Lucas said she respected them but didn't need advice from the "cuck chair" in the corner. The gerrymandering was overturned and Louise is heading for the big house. Edward G. Robinson voice "where's your cuck now?" I posted his post on twitter and it's gotten 25K views so far. Thanks, Smell the Glove Chris

"It's f**king f**ked."
-- reportedly a genuine comment offered by a "senior Labour source" Correction: I wrote that Labour is losing 88% (now 87%) of the seats it is "defending." I think that's wrong. The right way to say it is the seats they are contesting -- that is, they don't necessarily already hold these seats, but they have put up a candidate to run for the seat. It's still very bad but not as bad as losing 87% of the seats they already held. Basil the Great
"The end of the two party system in the UK" as first the Fake Conservatives and now Labour chooses political suicide rather than simply STOPPING THE INVASION
Incidentally, the only reason this didn't already happen in the US is because of the Very Bad Orange Man (who is right on 85% of all policy calls and extremely, existentially right on 15% of them)
No political party that is NOT also a doomsday religious cult would EVER choose a cataclysmic loss -- and possible extinction as a party -- to support a toxically unpopular favoritism of NON-CITIZEN ILLEGAL MIGRANTS over actual citizen voters.
Only a cult does this.
Now they've lost 84%.
Annunziata Rees-Mogg Update: They've now lost 88% of the seats they're defending. As I mentioned earlier, I think I heard that London will not bail them out, as many of those Labour seats will probably flip to "Muslim Independent" or Green. Detroit's 5am vote will not save them.
Yup, Labour is losing 80% of its seats...
The British Patriot Wow, up to 1700-2100 seats. It's not incredible that this is happening. It's incredible that the Davos crowd is so absolutely determined to privilege Muslim "migrants" over the actual native population who elects them, no matter how loudly the natives scream that they want to be prioritized, that they will gladly self-extinguish as a party rather than simply representing the interests of their own voters. Astonishing. Remember, when they call other people "cultists" -- they are the ones so imprisoned in their social reinforcement and discipline bubbles that they will choose political death rather than dare upset the Karen Enforcement Officers of their cult. Update: Now they've lost 83% of the seats they were defending. (((Dan Hodges))) Nick Lowles
STARMERGEDDON: In early returns, Reform gains 135 seats, Labour loses 90, the Fake Conservatives lose 36 (and I didn't even know they could fall any further), the Lib Dems lose 4, and the Greens gain 6. Note that the only other party gaining seats is the Greens and they're only gaining a handful of seats.
Update: Reform now up 145, Labour down 98. Labour projected to lose Wales -- where they've ruled for 27 years. Fulton County Georgia just discovered 400 boxes of ballots for Labour Update: REF +156, LAB -107, CON -45 Brutal: In four out of five council seats where Labour is defending, they've lost. 80%. I'm sure it's not this simple, but Reform is straight taking Labour's and the "Conservatives'" seats. They've lost almost exactly what Reform gained. If understand this right (and warning, I probably don't), all of London's council seats are up for election, and Labour might lose hugely there, as their old voters abandon them for Reform, Muslim Indenpendents, and the Greens. REF +190, LAB -134, CON -56.
Updates on the Labour collapse in council elections -- which wags are calling #Starmergeddon -- from Beege Welborne. There are about 5000 seats up for grabs, Labour is expected to lose 1,800, Reform will probably gain 1,580, up from... zero. So this would be more than that.
People claim that while Labour has adopted the Sharia Agenda to appeal to the million Muslims it allowed to migrate to the country, those voters are ditching Labour to vote for the Muslim Independent Party or the Greens. Delicious. This shadenfreude is going straight to my thighs. Oh, and if Starmer loses about as badly as expected, Labour will toss him out of a window Braveheart style and replace him. He will announce he is resigning to spend more time with his Gay Ukrainian Male Prostitutes.
Media bias and senationalism are as old as, well, the media:
![]() That was written by Denny O'Neill and illustrated by, get this, Frank Miller. Editor to the Stars Jim Shooter was in charge at the time. I always thought the gag was original to the comic book, but in fact the "Threat or Menace" headline was a satirical joke about media bias and sensationalism for a long while. The Harvard Lampoon used it in a parody of Life magazine: "Flying Saucers: Threat or Menace?"
