| Let's Be Honest: I Don't Need Much Provocation to Re-Post »
May 11, 2005
I'm Outraged By Whatever The Hell It Is I'm Talking AboutEvil will always triumph, because Good... is dumb. -- Dark Helmet from Spaceballs, in my new favorite quote, courtesy of Dave from Garfield Ridge. From NRO's the Corner: Sarah Loomis, 32, of Great Neck, N.Y., agreed. "I think it's good for the church to have rules against killing and things like that," she said. "But I was really hoping the new pope would loosen up on things like abortion and homosexuality. This is the 20th century, after all. Or 21st. Whatever." Let's be honest: they're (largely) morons. Thanks to NickS. Let's Be Honest, I'm a Moron Update: Dumb, dumb, dumb Ace. I linked the quote without checking the source. It's a parody. Thanks to VonKreedon, for watching us watchers of the watchmen. Can someone fucking watch him and get him off my tits for five minutes? posted by Ace at 11:54 AM
CommentsThe church has rules against killing?
Posted by: Dave in Texas on May 11, 2005 11:57 AM
Uh, Ace, don't get too excited yet. I think this is a parody. Posted by: David on May 11, 2005 12:04 PM
Yeah, there's nothing like the passage of time to make killing babies acceptable. Posted by: Phinn on May 11, 2005 12:05 PM
O/T Ace - more cowbell. Posted by: Megan on May 11, 2005 12:10 PM
Yeah! Loosen up Pope B! Cuz if you start loosening up then I can start having more fun. I figure if he lowers the standards on abortion and homosexuality then regular unmarried sex is a free for all..... Imagine getting to go to heaven AND being able to have sex with Johnny Depp and Peirce Bosnan. (sp?) Posted by: Rightwingsparkle on May 11, 2005 12:14 PM

all clear now apparently Posted by: brak on May 11, 2005 12:23 PM
Let's be honest: Ace is a moron who so desperately wants the left to be the caricature he has drawn that he believes parodies to be truth. Posted by: vonKreedon on May 11, 2005 12:24 PM
Sarah: What part of the Pope is Catholic don't you understand? This notion that the Church is behind the times is belied by the statement of a young seminarian who said: It is ironic that those who are the loudest about claiming that the church is "behind the times" and needs to be "more modern" are middleaged and older, while those who are the most in favor of no change are young people under thirty. Who is really behind the times? Posted by: 72 Roman Catholics on May 11, 2005 12:24 PM
Gotta go with Dave on this one. Parody. Amusing. Hits the nail on the head. particularly American Catholics, who feel that John Paul II was too strict in his insistence that they abstain from premarital sex and attend Mass in an actual, physical "church," rather than just think happy thoughts on Sundays. *raises hand and shrugs* Guilty! Posted by: compos mentis on May 11, 2005 12:33 PM
Let's be honest -the left can be so idiotic, at time it is difficult to recognize parody. Posted by: carin on May 11, 2005 12:46 PM
72 Roman Catholics, Sarah's reply might be delayed, as she is a fictional construct. Posted by: Hubris on May 11, 2005 12:47 PM
Ace-- Glad to help. Look on the bright side-- at least it wasn't an *old* parody ;-). BTW, just got out of a briefing, walked back to my desk, and saw the P-gon alarm for the small plane flashing on my computer screen. Of course, that was thirty+ minutes ago. Gee, quick timing, you morons. Thankfully, it was nothing. Won't make any difference to the lefty yokels who joke about people overreacting, but hey, I'm used to their "humor." Cheers, Posted by: Dave at Garfield Ridge on May 11, 2005 12:52 PM
Let's be honest: Ace is a moron who so desperately wants the left to be the caricature he has drawn that he believes parodies to be truth. Let's be honest. The left IS the caricature Ace draws. That is why everyone believed it. Posted by: Rightwingsparkle on May 11, 2005 12:58 PM
Let's be honest: the choir would rather believe that a caricature is truth than have to deal with reality. Posted by: vonKreedon on May 11, 2005 01:06 PM
Let's be honest: I'm not wearing any pants, film at 11. Posted by: Dave at Garfield Ridge on May 11, 2005 01:11 PM
vonK what is that reality? That there are a few democrats not filled with irrational bile and hate? OK, but they're not the ones being heard. The Left has given the rest of the populace little reason to question this characature. Dean is appealing to the Dem Underground and KOS, and Kerry exemplified the weather-vane Democrats of the last 3 decades. The self-absorbtion of the parody was entirely consistent with liberal Catholics like Sullivan and the rest of the "[dis]loyal dissent" of the Church. Posted by: hobgoblin on May 11, 2005 01:17 PM
There's never a reason for missing obvious parody, I don't care which side you're on. This is like when people believed a fake "Rumsfeld" memo I made that had him asking for brainstorming on some "really freaky shit" they could inflict on prisoners. Posted by: Hubris on May 11, 2005 01:28 PM
I linked the quote without checking the source. It's a parody. Also: Star Wars kid? Not actually in Star Wars. Posted by: Allah on May 11, 2005 01:44 PM
RWS - Let's be honest. The left IS the caricature Ace draws. That is why everyone believed it. What's this everyone malarky? Don't lump us in with that Dan Ratheresque, swill drinking, blind to parody what's-his-name who runs this blog! Your daughter is beautiful by the way. Do you think God will forgive me for seeing that picture of the two of you on your site and thinking "3-way"? Let's be honest. I'm a pig. Posted by: compos mentis on May 11, 2005 02:18 PM
compos mentis, Of course I will forgive you...I thought the same thing. Posted by: God on May 11, 2005 02:53 PM

umm... that should be Rightwingsparkle there Posted by: Rightwingsparkle on May 11, 2005 03:06 PM
Thank you God!!! I beg forgiveness from RWS once again. It was lunch time and I over-dosed on General Tso's Chicken, fried rice, and far too much Vanilla Coke. It's time to check myself into the Betty Food clinic again. (you and your daughter are really hot though!) Stop it!!!!! Hee hee. I'm really not like this. Yes I am. Step one is admitting that you have a problem . . . especially with a pic of two exceptionally gorgeous southern belles in sun dresses!! Posted by: compos mentis on May 11, 2005 03:45 PM
Ace, you need to have a RWS family babe-photo-of-the-day section... Posted by: Dogstar on May 11, 2005 03:49 PM
Let's be honest vonKreedon, if I could find a liberal that could deal with reality, I'd confront them. Because, let's be honest - "Bush=Hilter" just isn't a rational thought. I'm just being honest. Posted by: carin on May 11, 2005 04:06 PM
I went to RWS' blog to say something sincerely nice about the lovely photo she posted, when to my horror I read that the woman-child, who looks to be at least 22 in that pic, is in fact only 16!! So I'm thinking that it is one thing to jest about a tasty mother-compos-daughter sandwich. It's a completely different thing when the daughter is 16!! With shame and self-loathing I began to read the article posted by said juvenile when, in the first paragraph, there's mention of a Catholic school girl's uniform. I.am.going.to.Hell.in.a.handbasket. Posted by: compos mentis on May 11, 2005 04:10 PM
compos saw te uniform line. thought the same thing Just. Plain. Wrong. Even in Texas. Posted by: hobgoblin on May 11, 2005 04:20 PM
handbasket? shee-it, more like a cruise missile Posted by: Dave in Texas on May 11, 2005 04:29 PM
Jeez, guys. You don't talk about someone else's family like that. Even I'd know better, even after a dozen shots of tequila. Posted by: Megan on May 11, 2005 04:43 PM
I know Megan. Satan is firing up the barbeque for those two as we speak....;-) Posted by: Rightwingsparkle on May 11, 2005 04:49 PM
I'd like to explain, your honor, see, I was just WATCHING the train wreck as it happened, from a distance... I had NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with it, I just kinda, you know, looked.. to see if I could help the victims or anything. But it was a BAAAD wreck, so I stayed back where it was safe. Posted by: Dave in Texas on May 11, 2005 05:17 PM
I'm with Dave and Megan, standing way, way off to the sidelines. I'm just not getting teh funnay on this one. Posted by: utron on May 11, 2005 05:28 PM
I agree. No offense meant to anyone, especially two as good as RWS and her daughter obviously are. Most who post here have wonderful senses of humor and take a good ribbing as well as anyone. RWS has done a good job of not taking this seriously even though she has no idea what I'm like save for how I comment on this blog. Thanks for that. If I overstepped boundaries and offended anyone in the slightest, I am truly sorry. I like being a part of this 'community' that gets along so well. I don't want to screw that up. Okay, I'm done groveling. And Megan, if you can do twelve shots of tequila, I want to party with you! Posted by: compos mentis on May 11, 2005 05:36 PM
FWIW, RWS, I was saying that it was very WRONG to entertain any such thoughts about a fine young lady such as your daughter. I too, thought she was of legal and proper age (22) until that post of yours. There's no shades of grey, here. wrong. Posted by: hobgoblin on May 11, 2005 05:45 PM
"Where are we going, and what are we doing in this handbasket?" Posted by: Dianna on May 11, 2005 06:09 PM
17 is age of consent in TX fellas...just an FYI Posted by: brak on May 11, 2005 06:18 PM
I can't believe that you guys are talking about RWS and her lovely young daugher like that! I'm just mortified by the tone of some of these posts. FYI, Hob, 17 is legal in Texas. Posted by: Michael on May 11, 2005 06:29 PM
I do actually have a great sense of humor. But if you guys are gonna talk all nasty, I would MUCH prefer it be about ME. Thank you very much....;-) Posted by: Rightwingsparkle on May 11, 2005 06:40 PM
oh and FYI, Texas ALSO has a very easy to get concealed handgun license, WHICH I happen to have. Along with a sweet little pistol. Just a lil sumthin to keep in mind when considering what is legal and all..... Posted by: Rightwingparkle on May 11, 2005 06:46 PM
Well allrighty then! Having teenage daughters (19 & 15) has pretty much ruined me on being attracted to girls anywhere near their ages.. I just feel baaaad. I hate it, but there it is. I have no such reservations though about poking fun at compos while he crashes and burns (nice groveling by the way). And Hob, I read yours the way you intended. Posted by: Dave in Texas on May 11, 2005 06:48 PM
'Sparkle, Watcha packin' sweetheart? WR95 Posted by: WindRider95 on May 11, 2005 06:50 PM
I wasn't sure anyone on here had kids (I don't, FWIW). Really, I thought the etiquette regarding not saying you'd boink people's kids was pretty straightforward. Compos did a decent grovel; since he's not actually physically present for a well-deserved flogging, it'll just have to do. Now let's never speak of this again. Posted by: utron on May 11, 2005 06:55 PM
WindRider95, a 380. I also have a 45, but too much of a kick for me. Posted by: on May 11, 2005 06:57 PM
ummm..that was me talkin about my guns. Posted by: Rightwingsparkle on May 11, 2005 06:59 PM
It shall never be spoken of again.
And one of those license thingys. Posted by: Dave in Texas on May 11, 2005 07:01 PM
That's funny, Sparkle, I once shot a .357 loaded with magnums and a Phillipines War-era .45 back-to-back, and compared to the kick from the .357, the .45 was smooth as butter. Posted by: CraigC on May 11, 2005 07:02 PM
'Sparkle, Yepper...my wife carries a 380...I prefer the Glock Model 23 (.40) WR95 Posted by: WindRider95 on May 11, 2005 07:06 PM
heh... when I first saw Windrider's comment, I thought he asked "'Sparkle, whatcha wearing sweetheart"? hee hee hee... I also thought "damn, I wish I had asked that". Posted by: Dave in Texas on May 11, 2005 07:10 PM
THe recoil on a Beretta Cougar .45 is more manageable than the kick (like a little mule) from a Kahr MK40 .40. It's also fairly concealable and accurate as hell for a compact duty pistol. Posted by: hobgoblin on May 11, 2005 07:11 PM
Oh cool, gun discussion. :D I have 9 semiautomatic handguns (2x .50, 2x 10mm, 1x .45, 3x .357, 1x .22) 2 rifles (1x Browning 10ga, 1x Barrett M468), and a cute li'l revolver (.22) with an etched mother-of-pearl grip. I just got the Barrett and it's the one I'm having the most fun with right now. I love new toys. [looking around] Uh... what? Posted by: Megan on May 11, 2005 07:16 PM
CraigC, I like to pack a little ladylike heat. Posted by: Rightwingsparkle on May 11, 2005 07:18 PM
Megan, where are you getting ammo for teh Barrett? the 6.8 isn't all that common yet. You just ordering online? And I'll stick with the 7.62 NATO M1A all the same doesn't shit where it eats. Posted by: hobgoblin on May 11, 2005 07:21 PM
I'm not sure that has anything to do with it. The .357 ended up pointing at the ceiling, but the .45 just rose a little. Of course, I suppose it depends on the type and manufacturer. This was a turn-of-the-century Army-issue .45, if that makes any difference. Posted by: CraigC on May 11, 2005 07:23 PM
Hobgob - No, I live about 20 minutes away from the NRA HQ and they have an nearby firing range. :) I'm a lifetime member and you can get ammo for pretty much anything there. Posted by: Megan on May 11, 2005 07:24 PM
You're in D.C., Megan? For some reason I thought you were in VA. Posted by: CraigC on May 11, 2005 07:27 PM
she's not in DC with that little "aresenal" (highly inapppropriate for a small cache like that, but it is what the media will call it if megan ever goes postal) Posted by: hobgoblin on May 11, 2005 07:28 PM
I love my Springfield, it's just hard to hide 3 pounds of steel (in the summer anyway, with no jacket). But accuracy and reliability are top notch. Never misfeeds, even with Glasers. Posted by: Dave in Texas on May 11, 2005 07:29 PM
Never thought about that, Hob, and anyway, Megan doesn't strike me as the type of person who would be cowed by that. Posted by: CraigC on May 11, 2005 07:32 PM
I do actually have a great sense of humor. But if you guys are gonna talk all nasty, I would MUCH prefer it be about ME.
C'mon. We're only human. Posted by: Michael on May 11, 2005 07:46 PM

Megan: You're in Arlington? I used to work for your cable TV company. How's the service? Posted by: Michael on May 11, 2005 07:49 PM
"Megan doesn't strike me as the type of person who would be cowed by that" Craig - Less a question of being cowed or not than normal regs not being immediately applicable. I'm an ex-fed with several grandfathered fed licenses, plus state. :) Posted by: Megan on May 11, 2005 07:50 PM
Butters- Comcast isn't bad. I rarely watch TV though. Posted by: Megan on May 11, 2005 07:51 PM

Michael, That is not cleavage my dear. That is what we women in the south refer to as accesories....;-) Posted by: Rightwingsparkle on May 11, 2005 08:17 PM
Megan has two .50 handguns? Do you hold one in each hand? Yow! Posted by: vonKreedon on May 11, 2005 08:21 PM
vonKreedon - Yes. They're twin Desert Eagles, Mark XIX base model. Daddy had them custom-made for me for one of my birthdays. Posted by: Megan on May 11, 2005 08:25 PM
Craig- Very cool. I imagine your household is a marvel of domestic tranquility whether you like it or not. :) Posted by: Megan on May 11, 2005 08:27 PM

Check out the Magnum videos of the Desert Eagle being used to defend its owner from an assailant wielding a fruit! Posted by: vonKreedon on May 11, 2005 09:17 PM
Oh hell, I thought the whole question about RWS's "guns" was focused on cleavage, ah, I mean, accessories. Accessories make the outfit. Just make sure you don't tick em off. Posted by: Dave in Tejas on May 11, 2005 11:10 PM
My favorite gun will always be the S&W .357 my wife bought me for our first Christmas. Like the one mentioned above, it has a hard kick and is extremely loud. Just like my wife can be at times. (and of course, I deserve it.) An interesting gun I now own came from my Grandpa. It's an antique hex-barrel rifle. Very cool. Posted by: compos mentis on May 12, 2005 09:46 AM
I've HEARD people saying things like that. And quite worse, I won't even repeat it here. This might be a parody but in REAL LIFE several people (Catholics) have told me the most incredible and outragious things. Posted by: Pete on May 13, 2005 05:45 AM
