Ted Kennedy Celebrates Abu Ghraib Anniversary By Getting Drunk, Removing Pants In Palm Beach Restaurant

Well, not really, but he did use the word "torture" 38 times.

Arthur Cherenkoff notes he didn't have much to say on the good anniversaries:

Senator Edward Kennedy didn't have anything to say on 19 March, the second anniversary of the start of the liberation of Iraq. In fact, he kept quiet until two days later, only to talk about President Bush's judicial appointments. Senator Kennedy didn't have anything to say on 9 April, the second anniversary of the liberation of Baghdad and the end of Saddam's regime. In fact, he kept quiet until the following day, when he spoke on the occasion of receiving a community award.

"Avenue B Alum" suggests that as long as we're noting anniversaries, we ought to note this one, coming up July 19th. Ted Kennedy's own version of PT-109 of course, but not quite fit for Profiles in Courage.

Thanks to the very good Hotline Blogometer for the LGF and Cherenkoff tips.

And yet still no Ace of Spades. Douchebag.

Wasn't the "anniversary" of Abu Ghraib back in January?

As I remember it, what happened a year ago today was the big splashy report on 60 Minutes. By the time that story broke, the military had already received the charges, begun the investigation, held a press conference about the investigation, and was well into writing a whopping big report about it.

Maybe Kennedy's just celebrating the anniversary of being able to bash America internationally.

I just find it ironic that Turd Kennedy is personally responsible for more innocent deaths than any of the people now doing jail-time for the abuses in Abu Ghraib.

The AP reported this bizzare attack by Senator Kennedy on Attorney General Gonzales: "Well, just as an attorney, as a human being, I would have thought that if there were recommendations that were so blatantly and flagrantly over the line in terms of torture, that you might have recognized them. I mean, it certainly appears to me that water boarding, with all its descriptions about drowning someone to that kind of a point, would come awfully close to getting over the border, and that you'd be able to at least say today, "There were some that were recommended or suggested on that, but I certainly wouldn't have had a part of that, as a human being."

CNN reported that Kennedy's staff had pointed out to him that this line of attack would open him up to comments about how he killed Mary Jo Kopechne. He is reported to have said, "I'll cross that bridge when I get to it."

Is any of that true? If so, do you have a URL?

(I don't mean the cross-that-bridge line, which I'm sure is a joke.)

What a disgrace Ted Kennedy is compared to his brothers. I can't think of anything good Teddy has done for Massachusetts and the country, and plenty of bad.

If the guy passes away soon, I hope he gets none of the special Kennedy Family Royalty treatment. Just another dead Senator like Strom Thurmond or Daniel Patrick Moynihan, only far less ethical and distinguished.

No lying in State, no military honors funeral, just a big media masturbatory love fest in Hyannisport and a gathering of 3rd & 4th Gen Kennedy nere' do wells that have to watch the only remaining political Star in the Family, Ahnuld, say "Vot a peety 'ol Teddy is gone".

Are you sure that Teddy K isn't just dropping his pants for Sullivan "he who shall not be named" on Abu Ghraib's anniversary? Maybe they just let their guard down during an excitable and hyperbole filled Bush-bashing party...

Hey! What's Kerry doing to Ted's car?

Bakunin,

He's looking for Victor Charlie. Shortly after this picture was taken he stepped on Mary Jo's nail file and was awarded purple heart number 3.

I agree - July 19th should be a holiday. Let's remember and memorialize the day an innocent woman was killed by this fat, arrogant, ignorant, drunken traitor. Honor her memory by reminding every democrat that the leadership of their party belongs to craven bastards like Ted Kennedy.

"When I retuhned, Mary Jo and the cahr were gohn."

Suprisingly, Mary Jo Kopechne could not be reached for comment.
