Bush Finalizes Exit Strategy... For Lebanon

The last of the Syrian soldiers bugged out, and they took the heads of the secret police with them.

All right... who wants some? Who's next?

A great day for all involved.

Now we wait for the integrity kick that will keep Hezbollah out of power...

OK, first, excellent Army of Darkness ref.

Second, since I'm too lazy to have my own blog, I figured *somebody* would have to start this circulating. Why not you?

Too bad they didn't leave the heads of the secret police behind and taken the bodies with them.

That boom-stick slices like a fucking hammer.

Posted by: Russell Wardlow on April 26, 2005 08:35 PM

Just a downer, the Pro-Syrian Lebanese gov't naturalized a whole slew of Syrian agents as Lebanese citizens at the last minute. Cheeky Bastards.

Posted by: Iblis on April 26, 2005 11:36 PM

Hey I have a question. Are you guys liberal or conservative?

Posted by: Meow on April 26, 2005 11:38 PM

Meow,

That's a spambotty kind of question, isn't it?

I'd think you were a spambot except spambots always post in old posts.

Generally (wouldn't want to speak for the group) we're hardcore conservatives, mostly neo, with some libertarian leanings. We also like lesbians and porn, whatever that counts for.

Posted by: ace on April 26, 2005 11:50 PM

I'm a pornatarian.

Posted by: Sortelli on April 27, 2005 12:04 AM

I'm a RINO. First reasonably moderate Democrat nominee comes along, and I'm outta here.

oops ... did I say that out loud?

Posted by: Knemon on April 27, 2005 12:08 AM

We also like lesbians and porn, whatever that counts for.

Preferably at the same time.

To put it another way: We're classical liberals. For those of us fortunate enough to live in Australia this means we're Liberals. Either way, that makes us conservatives, which these days makes us progressives, because all the communists are reactionaries.

Posted by: Pixy Misa on April 27, 2005 12:12 AM

Doesn't/didn't Canada have " Liberal Conservative Party"?

Posted by: Knemon on April 27, 2005 12:19 AM

I'm a Jew-hating Nazi, paleocon on foreign policy, strong libertarian on the right of an adult to copulate with consenting livestock in the privacy of his own home, and to enshrine that relationship within a civil union.

And so is my partner Porky. As you can guess, we're both quite strong advocates for Poland-China relations, if you know what I mean!

Other than that Porky's not too political, although he is for immunizations for swine flu, and he's a Quaker. At least he is once I have had some of that sweet, sweet herbal vyagra! Yowza!

Ace:

Hate to rain on your parade, but (IMHO) this pullout is a sham and a delusion. Syria still has lots of plainclothes secret police in place, and their Iranian-Hizbollah allies to back them up. They also still have some troops, I think, in the Bekaa valley, so they are still in Lebanon. This "pullout" is a Potemkin village intended to get them off GW's target list, at least until the next Arab-Israeli-Iranian war begins in 2006.

Oh, and pro-Lesbian (as long as she's pretty and conservatie) and anti-porn. So that makes me a proud American from the state of confusion:)

"First reasonably moderate Democrat nominee comes along, and I'm outta here."

Take your shoes off, Knemon, you're gonna be here a loooooooooooooong time. Can I get you a drink? :)

Posted by: Sortelli on April 27, 2005 01:22 AM

Thanks, I'll have a double of your second-cheapest scotch.

Yeah, I know. We can always hope for a Giuliani v. Beredsen race, though - imagine an election where the Dem can outflank the Rep on the right! Happened in 1960 - but that was a different world.

Posted by: Knemon on April 27, 2005 01:31 AM

I'm a little worried about you, Ace. If you have to say you're pro-lesbian.....I think you know what I mean.

Posted by: CraigC on April 27, 2005 01:35 AM

I'm a Frisbyterian.

Personally, I'm an old-school Wall Street Republican and I'm strongly pro-immigration. Especially from countries with weird, unintelligible languages should one escape and go to the police.

Meow:

We're not all conservatives. I'm a liberal Democrat with a crush on another commenter.

Posted by: Michael on April 27, 2005 11:42 AM

Come on, spill the beans, Michael.

Posted by: CraigC on April 27, 2005 12:11 PM

Michael, that's very sweet, but I'm spoken for.

Aren't I, Porky?

Posted by: Pseudarford on April 27, 2005 04:51 PM

Looking at the campaigns, Clinton flanked Bush Sr on the right. Bush was also to the left of Perot. (Compare Bush's domestic accomplishments - Americans with Disabilities Act, mostly, with Clinton's - Welfare Reform, NAFTA, etc.)

I would give good money to see someone as sane as Gov. Bredeson as the Democratic nominee, no matter who the GOP puts up. I fear the Dems will say "Give me Hillary or Give me LEFT!"

Posted by: rvman on April 27, 2005 05:28 PM

Come on, spill the beans, Michael.

No way. I will never divulge the identity of the woman who is the object of my adolescent infatuation. I would be mortified, mortified I say, were she to learn that I fantasize about spanking her until her cheeks turn the color of cherry blossoms. Sorry, CraigC, but I will carry this dark secret to my grave.
