Here's a Crazy Idea: Require ID to Vote

Sounds nuts, I know, but if you need to show ID to get a library card, I really think it's not an invasion of privacy nor a chilling of voting rights to show an ID when you vote for the government of the United States.

Woot! Right Wing News F I N A L L Y acknowledges the Only Important Blog On This Internet as one of his favorite blogs. And at number nine, no less.

Welcome to the party, pal.

Here in the Land of Cheese our legislature keeps passing a law requiring ID and our moron Governor keeps vetoing it. Need I mention which party he belongs to? If it weren't for voter fraud here we'd probably be part of Jesusland instead of South Canada.

What exactly are the arguments against this? I don't understand how this can be a bad thing. It seems so simple and yet so obvious.

I fell to number 40 on his list. :-( The only thing that's keeping me going is knowing I'm #1 on your list of loathsome New Yorkers.

I didn't say you were #1, Karol. Just on the list.

Somewhere in the thirties, I think. Hell, that's almost complimentary.

Take a wild f'n' guess.

Being a resident of Georgia, I find this absolutely insane.

I'm also pretty sure that most of the politicians complaining about having to show ID when voting will be out of a job if/when this measure comes to pass. Of course, not because they opposed the measure, but because they won't be able to fraud their way into office anymore.

Heck, if we are really lucky, this *might* enable us to get that whackjob McKinney out of office (again).

Take a wild f'n' guess.

Something about Bob Dole's cock?

But seriously, I can imagine why some people might not like a more secure voting process, but I'm just wondering if there are actual rational reasons why some people think this is a bad idea.

I want to be #1!

With your personality and attitude, I think you've got a genuine shot.

Posted by: ace on March 31, 2005 01:37 PM

Yeah, this ranks right up with allowing foreign nationals and convicted fellons vote. Makes no sense to me either.

Do you think RWN put INDC at 40 (tied with AN) just to show that he didn't accidently leave him off the list?
