Yemeni Opposition Journalist Granted Amnesty

His conviction was affirmed, but the Yemeni President apparently understood that the times, they are a-changin'.

One little note: Armies of Liberation thanks this site for my part in helping get the word out about this guy.

The trouble is: I'm not sure I did get the word out about him at all. I may have, at most, written a single post about it, and I don't know that I even did that.

So, I don't deserve any thanks. Glad the guy is out of jail, though.

Little Miss Attila worked pretty hard on the Yemeni incident. Here's a post from 8 March where she is asking for folks to sign her petition. She definitely deserves some credit.

I'm with Ace: the credit goes to Jane. I'm glad a bunch of us were able to support her, but it's like comparing the work of the bucket brigade to the role of the fire captain: there's nothing much to discuss.

I'm excited that the Yemeni President came around, though, and thrilled that we have a new tool for righting some of the more egregious wrongs out there.

Kinda reminds me of the time I put up a post bashing the UN (is there any other kind?) that happened to mention the Sudan. Next thing I knew, the blog Sudan Watch had linked me and labeled me a Friend of the Sudan.

I was quite flattered, but felt like it was rather undeserved praise.
