More Cool Stuff I've Never Seen!

Dave continues mocking me by bringing more "new" Internet funnies to my attention.

Yeah, yeah. Giggle at a retard.

You might want to check out his list, though, as it includes some classics that are still funny, and some stuff you might have (horrors!) not seen before.

*Sigh*....Been there, done that.

Hey...have you heard about this dude named Drudge that has a "website" full of "links" to interesting stories?

Really, you ought to check him out. I hear that he and a guy called "Instapundit" (wtf?) are all the rage these days.

Posted by: Jack M. on March 16, 2005 07:02 PM

At least he had the decency to link rathergood. The day those sweary kittens stop cracking me up I'll be dead in the ground.

I also heard there's this really cool trick out there where you try to find out what's wrong with the picture, and then a scary face appears and screams at you! LOL! ROFLMAO!

Oops, my AOL Buddy List thingy just started flashing. Gotta go!

Posted by: Squatch on March 16, 2005 07:59 PM

Much obliged, my friend.

Remember, I tease because I love.

Like a Viking.

As if to prove my Noobyness, I had only seen 3 of Dave's 16 links.

Since we're reposting our comments over here (!), check out Hatten ar Din, if you missed it 5 years ago.

Posted by: PlacidPundit on March 16, 2005 09:30 PM

Unlike others i'm not going to make fun of your backward ways. Bu i just wanted to mention that All Your Base Are Belong To Us is such a classic that i've actually seen it written in the non-virtual world aka the real world. If you ever been to Northampton, MA on the way to Amherst, MA there is a bridge where someone has sprayed the infamous logo. Now there's a "new" bases, "i lost my frog" - http://lostfrog.org/ equally stupid time waster. Enjoy.

Here's a new Rule of the Net by the man who wrote the book Rules of the Net: "No matter how long its been out there or how many millions have seen it, if anything on the web is new to you, it's new."

Strange that those who have seen so much would miss this cutting-edge point.

Posted by: Vanderleun on March 17, 2005 12:19 AM

Vanderleun,

That rule isn't new. I'm pretty sure I read about it over at Dave @ Garfield Ridge's place about 2 years ago.

Posted by: Jack M. on March 17, 2005 12:22 AM

Wow, new Dusty.

Posted by: someone on March 17, 2005 12:31 AM

I still miss Classic Dusty.

Posted by: ace on March 17, 2005 12:45 AM

Actually, Jack, I wrote it in 1995 and published it in 1996. But it is still new. Newer it seems to you than me.

Rules of the Net: On-Line Operating Instructions for Human Beings

Then again there's the very old Ezra Pound rule from around 1919: "Make it new."

Posted by: Vanderleun on March 17, 2005 01:03 AM

I must say I am shocked that Garfield has missed Kibo, Happynet, and the Great Renaming. But he is obviously post-alt.dot groups and so can't be expected to be current on what is oldly new.

Posted by: Vanderleun on March 17, 2005 01:08 AM

Bravo on your l33t rulz writing skillz, Vanderleun. I give you all the mad props you seem to want.

To bad you seem to have lost your sense of humor along the way though.

I understand that the FEC might have an interest in writing some internet rules soon. Maybe you should inform them of your particular aptitude in the field.

Cordially,

Jack "Ignoring Internet Rules since 1996" M.

Btw, Ace, 8 blogads! Maybe you should open a premium slot at the top a la the Instabillboard.

Posted by: someone on March 17, 2005 02:22 AM

This blog should be renamed "Achingly n00b HQ." :)

Posted by: h4X><X5d on March 17, 2005 02:26 AM

All you have to do is call this sudden interest in old net jokes and has-been sayings "nostalgia" and you'll pull in 'hella' traffic.

Sorry...I can't pull it off. I'm a Republican, for crying out loud.

Oh and Jack, check out VDL's blog before you poop on him. He's got a killer blog, is an excellent essayist and has been around longer than I've been alive (or something). :)

Posted by: fat kid on March 17, 2005 12:13 PM

thanks, kid.

Jack, as far as the FCC paranoia virus which is sweeping the web and obviously infected you {No blame since it has infected far better minds as well.} you need to hit the Wayback Machine and think "Modem tax."

Beamz!

Slicin' like a hammer Ace!

Posted by: WindRider95 on March 17, 2005 12:52 PM

I would comment, Vanderleun, but I'm too busy waiting for the copy of your book I ordered from Amazon (for the amazing price of $.01, American! Really..i checked your link and that's what they go for) to come in.

After all..I wouldn't want to break any more of the "rules" you have so generously crafted for the internet.

I wasn't aware I was in the presence of Moses. I'll know better next time.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
