I'll Sue You, I'll Sue the Knesset, I'll Sue Golda Meir...*

Rachel Corrie's parents are suing Israel and the IDF for apparently lobotomizing her as a child and making her a positive moron.

Or something. Who knows their theory.

* Where? It's from a little-known but very well done movie you should probably rent if you've never seen it.

The Answer Update: It's from The Assignment, starring Aiden Quinn, Donald Sutherland, and Ben Kinglsey. One of the best somewhat-realistic spy thrillers I know of. To be honest, the film sort of falls apart in the very last reel -- with a very unsatisfying conclusion -- but it's so damn exciting, funny, odd, and interesting until that point the lame ending is easily forgiven.

The beginning is great and the middle is great. Two out of three ain't bad.

Sue everybody!!

The federal lawsuit, which lawyers said would be filed here Tuesday, alleges that Caterpillar violated international and state law by providing specially designed bulldozers to Israeli Defense Forces that it knew would be used to demolish homes and endanger people.

Cross complaint?
Mr. & Mrs. Corrie violated international and state law by producing Rachel Corrie and providing her to the International Solidarity Movement, a terrorist front organization, knowing she would be used to harass and provoke Israeli troops and interfere with Israel's anti-terrorist military operations discovery of tunnels used to smuggle weapons and explosives into Israel for the sole purpose of murdering innocent Israeli citizens.

Posted by: julie on March 16, 2005 01:19 AM

Man, even us critics of Zionism are not generally fans of Rachel Corrie. She was a USA flag-burning moron, then she got in a game of playing chicken with an armored D-9 bulldozer going 3MPH and lost. And lost in an area where it wasn't Pal housing going down to make room for greedy Zionist land speculators and strident Russian immigrants displacing Pals who had lived on the land for 100 generations - no, Rachel Corrie was defending property used by terrorists for weapons smuggling and sniper nests...a anti-American ISM stooge.

The way I see it, Israel, the IDF, and Caterpillar did America a favor by removing Rachel Corrie from the gene pool. And that Darwin Award babe can burn all the American flags she wants in Hell...

Posted by: Cedarford on March 16, 2005 02:58 AM

I've seen an ISM video a few months after the Corrie event, where ISM tools and Palestinians protested the fence being erected to keep out terrorists. 1-2 dozen of them marched up to the gate, began yelling and grabbing the fence and shaking it.

After a few minutes, an Israeli patrol arrived but they were on the other side of the fence. They shouldered their rifles. They fired warning shots. The ISM and Arabs only got more agitatied, shook the fence harder.

What do you think happened next?

Suddenly on camera you see a couple of the proteestors fall, blood squirting, and people running away and screaming about the brutality of the Israelis. Fucking assholes, the ISM and Arabs provoked the entire thing.

Posted by: Moonbat_One on March 16, 2005 03:01 AM

The family is missing the big picture. Other lawsuit possibilities:

-El Al: For clearly ignoring the danger they were putting the girl in by transporting her to such a hostile environment.

-The makers of SUVs: Nobody is sure exactly how yet, but damnit they HAVE to be at least partially responsible.

-The tobacco industry: See above

-The makers of "Captain Planet": For convincing this poor, innocent waif that the power of heart can stop a fucking bulldozer.

I loved The Assignement.
From the world of Shogo, we call those squishies.
What did she skip the day when they told the class not to lie down in front of bulldozers? The Israelis should take a page from the Chi-com playbook, and bill the Corries for the bulldozer clean-up.

Posted by: Iblis on March 16, 2005 10:38 AM

Away from politic.
The life is taken and money will not substitute lost daughter for the family.
I think they realize this and instead of wasting time suing the ISF, family should concentrate their effort in defending her daughter belief.
You have to give credit this young woman, who stood up and defended her view with the courage by looking in ayes of death; she was going to face it, just to save a Palestinian house, according to the article.
Further more, the bulldozer driver, he knows all truths. Will he be able to live with that, if it is true? He is left with his own conciseness. We might never know actually story. I believe, this driver was needed to question the order before setting in this bulldozer.
Life is given and no one has a right to take it, despite the motives.

OK, a couple of things:

1) I have no sympathy for people who get into arguments with industrial machines.

2) The best ever man versus machine story is the opening scene in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Posted by: David on March 16, 2005 10:50 AM

And I can't quite work up tears for terrorist enablers.

If the government ever finds out that tunnels are being used to transport terrorist supplies for killing me and my family, I would ceratinly hope they'd mow down whoever they need to, to destroy those facilities.

She has no case unless her lawyer can prove that at the time of the impact, she spilled her hot McDonalds coffee into her lap.

Cedarford: "She was a USA flag-burning moron, then she got in a game of playing chicken with an armored D-9 bulldozer going 3MPH and lost."

How dare you defame and slander her name! The bulldozer she was playing chicken with was actually going 4 MPH! We are filing suit against you too!

Posted by: 72VIRGINS on March 16, 2005 12:20 PM

Her family is also suing Catepillar for manufacturing said bulldozer.

Posted by: Michael C on March 16, 2005 12:24 PM

"The ayes of death"? Does that mean when the Big Question was presented to the scythe-carrying guy -- "So, this moronic young woman is standing in front of a bulldozer in just the right spot for the driver not to be able to see her; do we take this one?" -- he said "Aye!"?

Posted by: Andrea Harris on March 16, 2005 12:58 PM

She was a friggin' moron...this is nature's way of thinning the herd.

Posted by: WindRider95 on March 16, 2005 01:21 PM

we are given the precious gift of life and if we are not careful, it is taken by a bulldozer..... or a marine with an M16 A2 at about 500 yards.

Oh, I forgot to add. There's lots o' Davids out there. I am not the ESL David who looked into the "ayes of Death".

Someone should have warned her that stupidity can be a capital crime.

Posted by: linclon on March 16, 2005 02:34 PM

Ayes of Death David:

The life is taken and money will not substitute lost daughter for the family. . . [F]amily should concentrate their effort in defending her daughter belief.

Maybe the family should concentrate on examining their role in getting her killed? They gave her the money to go to a war zone. They gave her money to live on. And, they knew exactly what she was doing there.

You have to give credit this young woman, who stood up and defended her view . . . by looking in ayes of death . . . just to save a Palestinian house. . ..

No we don’t. She aided in the smuggling of guns and explosives to blow up civilians. That is what she was defending. Not some damn house.

Further more, the bulldozer driver, he knows all truths.

Yeah, he knows there are good reasons why you don’t wander onto construction sites and stand in front of bulldozers in the driver's blindspot. Corrie does now, too.

I believe, this driver was needed to question the order before setting in this bulldozer.

Maybe, Corrie should have question her orders instead?

Life is given and no one has a right to take it, despite the motives.

You shd have told that to Corrie, the ISM and their ilk.

Posted by: julie on March 16, 2005 02:52 PM

You know, now that I think about it, maybe I should change my name to "Ayes of Death". That's a name that slices like a f'n hammer.

Posted by: David on March 16, 2005 03:25 PM

Wow.

Just wow. Cedarford trashes Corrie.

Good on ya (for once and probably only once, CF)

Not to mention that CF passed up the easy joke about how stupid it is to sue a nation of Jooos (at least a few of which are prolly lawyers)

Posted by: hobgoblin on March 16, 2005 04:19 PM

I said: - Away from politic - and this explains all I said.

Few remarks:

Examining their role in getting her killed

I do not know, maybe her family shares the same beliefs as her daughter; consequently, they do not see anything wrong with that. This question must be asked to her family.

give credit this young woman

I looked on that from the perspective of the human spirit and the faith people have, which leads them to such action. Again, I would like to stress that matter here isn’t in an ideology, but rather in people’s spirit. People with strong belief in their rights are able to defend them. She sacrificed her life for what she believed. People can agree or disagree with her and that their rights.

bulldozer driver

This doesn’t excuse him from responsibility, was it intentional or not. He knows what happened there. If it was intentionally, he is with his consciousness, but, if not, he is in peace with himself. Let’s look on this as deliberate action, could he avoid accident? Yes, as a human and for the sake of himself, not to commit sin. Could he have stopped, could he have asked her to move away or could he have dragged her from the site, as a last option?

You shd have told that to Corrie, the ISM and their ilk.

I am not in power to tell to anyone what they have to do with their life. Each individual chooses how to act. Opinions about the incident and guiltiness are divided in article, two sides of the story. We can only deduce it, using facts presented in the article, two year old story. More facts are needed in order to express view; otherwise opinions will be divided depending which ideology people will take. I would like to make it clear that I am not supporter of terrorists, people, who smuggle weapons or people, who kill other people. My view on this story was from different angle and I reflected it in my comments, people’s behavior according to their belief and environment. You may agree or disagree with that view and it is your right.

Regarding my English, I apologize if I made grammatical mistakes, but I didn’t mean to offend language. However, it doesn’t give you right to call me ESL David or similar names you might come up with. Thank you.

Buh-hu. Bu-huuhuhu. Buh-hoo-hoo-hoo!

Dawid got his feewings huwt.

Boo fucking hoo, asshat.

Guess what? Corrie wasn'r "defending" a house she was purposefully obstructing the emolition of smuggling tunnels through which Egyptian radicals supply the West Bank residents with guns explosives and even prostitutes.

If you don't know what you're talking about, just shut the fuck up.

No one cares about your delicate feelings or your poor grasp of Engrish.

Sod off, swampy.

Posted by: hobgoblin on March 16, 2005 07:37 PM

Rachel Corrie died doing a very foolhardy and dangerous thing. She was trying to protect the facilities of terrorists who made NO EFFORT TO SAVE HER though they were RIGHT AT THE FUCKING SCENE.

Instead of focusing on the bulldozer driver, who perhaps was in a fit of homicidal rage, driving at 4 mph, why not focus on the people who were standing all around and DID NOT MOVE HER STUPID ASS OUT OF THE FUCKING WAY.

Why didn't THEY act?
Terrorists just love it when some stupid Westerner gets wasted for their cause.

What libby recently said, "Sometimes the enemy of my enemy is not my friend."?

Posted by: lauraw on March 16, 2005 08:40 PM

Hobgoblin,
You just prove what was needed to prove, classic behavior!
Each of us has own view. I respect yours.
By the way, I am sure you set good “example” of Engrish. Keep it up!

Lauraw,
Agree with you, either of them had stop her. I see point in your other comments.

David

David:

This seems to have escaped your attention: Rachel Corrie was AIDING AND ABETTING TERRORISTS! She was not some innocent bystander or bleeding-heart fool protesting a house demolition. She was protecting a WEAPON SMUGGLING TUNNEL that was being used to bring in supplies so Palestinian terrorists could blow up kindergartens, schools, pizza parlors, etc; She was assisting terrorists in carrying out their atrocities. Where is the nobility in that?

The fact that her beliefs, whatever they were, were sincerely held is of no concern. Actions have consequences. Evil actions have evil consequences. Rachel Corrie paid for her actions, accidentally, with her life. That was her choice, no one else's. The driver of the bulldozer could not have seen her, given where she was and his limited field of vision.

Having said that, I see no reason to consider her actions noble in any manner, shape, or form. Why should the death of a terrorist supporter be of any concern to you?

Posted by: BattleofthePyramids on March 17, 2005 12:10 AM

BattleofthePyramids

Why should the death of a terrorist supporter be of any concern to you?

Pure scientific interest. Understanding psychology (their behavior and their mental process) of the terrorist is the part of the answer how to fight them back in efficient manner. .

Posted by: David on March 17, 2005 09:28 AM

Riiiiiiiiiggghhhtt.

You can analyze their minds all you want. And come up with some interesting ways of 'fighting' them through that analysis.

I say understanding their physiology (bio-chemical composition and physical structure) helps us determine the most efficient way of altering their corporeal form in such a way as to render them incapable of all purposeful activity. So far, that approach has been the best way of fighting them.

They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
