What About Bob?: Alternative Media Forces Some Mention of Byrd's Nazi Remarks in MSMBy the way, I've seen nothing in the major papers, and only a few mentions on cable, of Robert Byrd appearing to liken GOP tactics to Hitler, which he now denies, even though Jewish groups have demanded an apology ("Hideous" and "outrageous," says the ADL.) Why is the press giving Byrd a pass? -- Howie Kurtz I'm not a blog triumphalist, and I frankly laugh when liberals talk about all the scary-huge power of the "conservative media" -- you know, talk radio, the New York Post, FoxNews. All second or third preferences, as far as media outlets. Still, the alternative media does occasionally force the legacy media to at least mention, if only in passing, stories they'd be otherwise inclined to embargo completely. They know they're being watched. Well, they always knew they were being watched; now they're also being talked back to. That's something. Not much, but it's something. This post thanks to what is most likely illegal, in-kind "campaign coordination" with KKKarl Rove plant Instapundit. And Joe Scarborough rounds up this Klansman's history in a video capture. Mostly stuff you know, but it's good to be reminded, and it's good to know it's actually being broadcast on television. If you count MSNBC as television. I sort of think of it as a fairly costly puppet-theater. posted by Ace at 03:25 PM
CommentsByrd's fascination with the Nazis stems from the fact that they had prettier uniforms than the KKK and he's just obsesssing. He should just concentrate what he is best at-being the pork king of the U.S. and maybe getting a better tailor for "his boys in the hood" when they work the midnight shift. Posted by: bsp on March 4, 2005 03:45 PM
Well, at least Jay Leno mentioned it last night. He said that Senator Byrd was going to say that Republicans acted like members pf the KKK but then remembered that he had been one himself, so he settled for Nazi. Posted by: jmchez on March 4, 2005 05:30 PM
How does Sheets have any credibility with the Left? Oh yeah, I forgot... The King of Pork. How silly of me. Posted by: zetetic on March 4, 2005 05:44 PM
Byrd didn't say Bush was like Hitler. He was saying Hitler had more respect for democracy and the rule of law than Bush does. Posted by: Moonbat_One on March 4, 2005 07:46 PM
ACE - "Well, they always knew they were being watched; now they're also being talked back to. That's something. Not much, but it's something." Yes it is something, and coupled with a massive boycott of the media and academe, we could completely change the balance of power between the Left and the Right and regain the power they stole from us in the '60's. THE RIGHT MUST BOYCOTT!!! Posted by: 72VIRGINS on March 7, 2005 01:38 PM

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals. The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite. Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
