Rep. Hinchley Still Spinning Rove-Forged-the-Documents Theories

This time on CNN:

It doesn’t take an awful lot of imagination if you’re thinking about who it is that might have produced these false documents to try to mislead people in this very cynical way. It would take someone very brilliant, very cynical, very Machiavellian, and it doesn’t take a lot of imagination to come up with the name of Karl Rove as a possibility of having done that.

H/t to Tim Blair, who actually has somehow gotten a hold of the minutes of the meeting where Rove ordered the "Doomsday Device" documents to be offered to Dan Rather. There's just too much good satire to excerpt any of it.

I will tease it to mention that Jeff Gannon makes an appearance.

Dr. Evil is another possibility--a better one, since he had access to the people surrounding Dan Rather.

Or maybe it was Professor Moriarity. This guy must be one of the most stupid people in Congress, and that's saying something.

If people sitting back in their living rooms can't rely upon the information they're getting over the news channel or over the radio, then very important aspects of this Democratic system become eroded.

Right!

I'm quite surprised, frankly, that this has gotten all the attention that it has, but in a way I'm grateful that it has because it's important for us to be concerned about these things.

Hunh?

I think it's very responsible of me to speculate about where this manipulation is coming from. Yes. I think it's important to speculate about it.

Make speculating on it your number one priority, Congressman. That's the primary reason the people of New York's 22nd District elected you.

DIRTY LIMERICK CONTEST:
Finish the below tow lines, and you'll receive my undying gratitude:

There once was a bolgger named ACE,
whose dates always ended in mace, ...

SUBMISSION 1) for being a virgin, he found it was urgent, to lose it by age thirty three.

Submission 2)
There once was a virgin named ACE,
whose dates always ended in mace, ...
for being a virgin, he found it was urgent,
to lose it and (something) the race.

Posted by: virgin on February 23, 2005 02:12 PM

Is anybody else interested in participating in an intervention for 72Virgins? I think they need some help.

Posted by: BrewFan on February 23, 2005 02:19 PM

Absoloutely!

There once was a blogger named ACE,
whose dates always ended in mace.
"Ow! All right, your loss, then,"
he would say, "because when
I move, like a hammer I slice."

There once was a blogger named Ace
Who CPAC with his presence did grace.
The card he was clutchin'
Read, "I'm Steve McCutcheon,"
Though that really wasn't the case.

(Note: I've no idea how "CPAC" is pronounced; the meter above assumes the stress is on the "PAC". Otherwise, it can be rejiggered as "There once was a blogger named Ace. / With his presence, he CPAC did grace" or something like that.)

Posted by: Stumbo on February 23, 2005 03:29 PM

Hah! I like that one especially.

You know why?

Because it rhymes.

(GuyT., I am looking straight at you when I say that.)

(I was wondering when we'd graduate from haikus to limericks. Hey, maybe we'll eventually work our way up to sonnets, who knows?)

There once was a blogger named Ace
Who yearned for Ann Coulter's embrace.
"I'll buy you a drink
For a boink and a link!"
-- he kept screaming, till blue in the face.

Voting shall be at 5:00 PM CT. So far Stumbo's submission No. 5 above is leading.

Posted by: 72VIRGINS on February 23, 2005 05:15 PM

My rhyme wasn't just any ordinary garden-variety rhyme; it was an oblique rhyme. But since "oblique" sounds French, henceforth I will call such rhymes "freedom rhymes" instead.

In conclusion:

You may not like my rhyme,
But at least it is all mine.

FREEDOM!!!

There once was a blogger named ACE,
whose dates always ended in mace.
he'd bribe with godiva
but ultimately drive her
to another woman's embrace.

Posted by: krakatoa on February 23, 2005 11:13 PM

This is all so amazingly daft.

"I'm so stoopid that it must be obvious to everyone I could be snookered by forgeries from a Cracker jack box" is not a defense. It just hilights certain educational challenges one must face. Sigh.

Congratulations to Stumbo!
The winning submission is yours No. 5.

As promised, you have won the undying gratitude of THE 72VIRGINS. Is there anything we do for you?

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
