Whatever,Mr.Summers actually did or did not say,has paled into insignificance in light of his headlong retreat into submissive apologist since that point.
He could have been a contender,but all he has become now is someone fearful of losing his job,and willing to abase himself endlesssly to save it.And for that act of moral cowardice ,he now . deserves to lose that job.

Summers has to stay, because his departure over this signals the kind of blow to open discourse that the left loves to proclaim that the PATRIOT Act generates.

Summers didn't say anything controversial or even untrue. What he said has been the subject of discussion and research for YEARS.

The only plus is that the MIT professor who thought she'd "Throw up or faint" when she heard it has made it clear how fragile she is and how undeserving of a spot in academia she happens to be.
