Freedom Pays a Dividend

Ukraine's New Government Turns Aggressively To Investigate Illicit Arms Sales

Maybe there's something to this "freedom" schtick of Bush's after all:

The newly-appointed government of Ukraine is wasting no time turning its attention to allegations of corruption and dangerous weapons deals under the previous administration.

The moves come shortly after Ukraine's parliament unanimously approved Yulia Tymoshenko, a nationalist and frequent critic of Russia, as prime minister to lead the country's new pro-Western government.

Recently-elected President Viktor Yushchenko told lawmakers his government would fight corruption though he knew that "that may seem like a fantasy in Ukraine."

...

Last week Grigory Omelchenko, a politician and ally of the country's new leadership claimed that Ukraine sold six air-to-ground cruise to Iran and six to China in 1999-2001.

In a letter Omelchenko, who is deputy head of a parliamentary committee on organized crime, urged the president to investigate the matter.

At least six arrests of arms dealers have been reported.

The U.S. earlier claimed that Ukraine had sold sophisticated radar equipment to Saddam Hussein despite a U.N. arms embargo against Iraq. The government of former President Leonid Kuchma denied the allegations.

Who's going to argue with Yulia?

A Photo Album: See-Dub sends along this link to pics showing fair Yulia looking very dishy indeed.

And not just dishy-- she seems to favor slightly period/sci-fi get-ups and a quasi-Princess-Leia hairdoo.

The Thinking Man's Cheesecake? Definitely the Dorking Man's Cheesecake.

Hotter Still: Not only does she have her own eponymous political party, but she is known as a "firebrand."

I'm getting as moist as a snack cake, as Jerri Blank would say.

Yulia is the new COWBELL! for the Global WoT.

Man, she's a stunner. If only American political women looked that good.

Must be something in the water in Ukraine.

Posted by: hobgoblin on February 7, 2005 05:43 PM

Well, let me caution you.

I found a lot of pictures of Yulia, and most of them show her looking rather plain. Or maybe on the lesser side of plain.

She does clean up nicely, though.

Posted by: ace on February 7, 2005 05:44 PM

Ace, man, you're breaking my heart. I saw some of the pics in the earlier thread, and though she does clean up real nice, the baseline isn't too shabby either. Not Monica Bellucci hot, but certainly pretty.

The hair has looked far worse, but again, the face and the chassis have seemed to remain a constant state of just fine (which is a hell of a lot better than 99.999999% of women in politics).

Posted by: hobgoblin on February 7, 2005 05:48 PM

Ace, thou art illin'. Clear the mucus from your corneas and check out her photo album.

I think there's enough for cowbell and to spare.

Posted by: See-Dubya on February 7, 2005 05:56 PM

I thought women in positions of political power only wore their hair that way in overrated space movies.

I like it.

Posted by: Matt on February 7, 2005 06:04 PM

Maybe the makers of the movie borrowed the hairstyle because it wasn't common here. :)

(Wasn't one of the "alien" languages in one of the Star Wars movies really some African language?)

Posted by: Patrick Chester on February 7, 2005 06:19 PM

...and no, she ain't bad looking either. ;)

Posted by: Patrick Chester on February 7, 2005 06:22 PM

runs in the family, too.

check out the sister/daughter (whatever)

hobgoblin: damn!

Posted by: madne0 on February 7, 2005 07:21 PM

What the hell is that? An onion tree? Its either that or some kind of freakish albino apple. Whatever it is it looks like she's about to brain her mother with it.

Posted by: comrad amish on February 7, 2005 07:42 PM

amish, why are you looking at the fruit, you fruit?

Posted by: hobgoblin on February 7, 2005 07:45 PM

I think theyre fighting over that deliciously sweet fruit. Pretty soon theyre going to be rolling around on the ground scratching and biting, until both of their shirts are in tatters and they both lay their half naked and panting. Their bodies drenched in sweat. And then do you know whats going to happen? One of them is going to say: "What the fuck kind of fruit is this?! A mutant pear? "

Half of what I say is meaningless, but I say it just to reach you, Yulia,

you can have their land. I'll take their women.

I like the heading for one section of the site: "B Yu Ty." Beauty, eh!

As the man said about the one-dollar double cheeseburger, "I'd hit it."

Posted by: Guy T. on February 7, 2005 09:37 PM

I agree with post #1. Check out the pics of her in the blue pants and jacket in the family section. This woman is 44 years old, and she's got the body of a girl in her mid 20s. Damn, I hope I look so good at her age. Wait, I am her age. Rats.

Posted by: Drew on February 7, 2005 10:31 PM

Lord, grant me a Congresswoman as pleasing to the eyes as... Good to know Heavenly Father still builds them right in the north of Europe.

Posted by: Sean the INFDL on February 7, 2005 10:48 PM

Tymoshenko wears her hair like that for the same reason George W. Bush wears a cowboy hat. She's really rich, and so lots of people would have a hard time believing that she's much like them. But that hairdo is part of a very traditional Ukrainian look. So this is her way of telling all the Ukrainian folk out there that she's just a plain old-fashioned country gal like them, and not a super-rich power-broker. It's what John Forbes Kerry was trying to do when he was windsurfing. Except that he was too elitist to realize that this sport is not exactly the Great American Pastime.

Posted by: House of Payne on February 8, 2005 12:48 AM

That's an interesting schoolgirl/dominatrix look she has going on with that grey dress and those black lace gloves. I suspect that she will be an effective prime minister for a variety of reasons.

Posted by: dillene on February 8, 2005 10:00 AM

Russian and Ukrainian women seem to age very well. Only thing I can think of is diet and less sun damage to the skin.

Posted by: Blacknimbus on February 8, 2005 01:39 PM

"a quasi-Princess-Leia hairdoo."

I bet it's a traditional Ukrainian hair-do.

You unworldly ignorant American, you.

I personally find her nickname "the gas princess" much funnier, and much less flattering for a woman.

Either way, I'm very thankful for her. Not just because of what she is doing for Ukraine, but because half of the searches that send people to my site are for "Yulia Tymoshenko naked photos".

be careful what you write.

the new kgb chief, a baptist minister, is her bodyguard.

As for the Princess Leia comparison, and hairstyles aside, PL looks like a sock compared to Yulia.

Posted by: Them on February 11, 2005 02:31 AM

Yulia is absolutely stunning in person. You ain't seen nothing yet :) Kudos on a great blog.

Important Message from Recent Convert to Christianity and Yet Super-Serious Christian Tuq'r Qarlson: Actually Muslims love Jesus, it's Trump and his neocons who hate him
Tucker Carlson Network
@TCNetwork

The people in charge [Jews, of course -- ace] don't want you to know this, but Muslims love Jesus.

Islam reveres Him as a major prophet and messenger of the Lord, believes He performed miracles, and states that He will return to Earth to defeat the Antichrist. That's why Donald Trump's painting depicting himself as the Son of God offended the president of Iran. It was an attack on his religion as well as Christianity.

Trump's trolling tweet was ill-advised, but Tucker is just lying when he claims the Christianity-hating President of Iran was "offended" by this.
He's one step away from announcing his official conversion to Islam. He literally never stops praising Islam. Well, he suddenly became Christian two years ago, there's not much stopping him from converting again.
You can track Tuq'r's official conversion to Islam with this Bingo card.
