Chinese Dirty-Bomb Plot Suspect Nabbed

You all know this, of course.

Good news.

There's not much more to say about this... except.

No one is really happy that there are so many cameras out there, their unblinking eyes watching us and recording us at every ATM and cross-walk. Yes, it's all a bit Big Brother-ish.

But:

Pictures of four Chinese suspects released by the FBI were taped inside booths where subway tokens are sold by transit employees, and operators of underground parking garages started searching vehicles. Dong, the suspect in custody, was not one of the four in the pictures released by the FBI.

...you can't argue with results like that.

Yes, we are all being surveiled more, and our privacy can be invaded with greater ease-- in theory.

In reality, while the government has these tools at its disposal, it simply doesn't have the manpower (or inclination) to watch Joe Law-Abiding Citizen's daily movements just because it theoretically could.

There's so much information on all of us out there, available either freely or virtually freely. Anyone can find out an awful lot about a stranger just by hitting the right sites on the Internet.

It's not really a terrific situation, but law-enforcement officials, at least at the moment, are probably much less likely to invade your privacy than an ex-spouse or some computer geek you pissed off in a chat forum.

Ace--

As I posted on my site, what worries me most (okay, next-to-most when we're talking about a dirty bomb) is that, if this actually is real, we are now facing terrorists able to use Chinese terrorists (or Chinese-looking-- they could always be North Koreans I guess) to help them out.

Makes the threat even scarier when you can't even get away with the most basic profiling.

If the enemy was *really* smart, they'd start using blue-haired old ladies. Oops, wait, sorry-- TSA checks those people just fine.

Cheers,
Dave

A good example of why it's better to be an Angry Liberal. If there's no terrorist attack, it was all a put-up job by Bush Inc to keep terrorizing Americans. If there IS an attack, guess who's blamed....

When was the last time you heard of the Chinese blowing up anything? Sneaking in to work at the local Egg Roll Buffet maybe, but they don't have a strong record for anti-American terrorism.

This whole story is really fucking weird.

Did any0ne catch the quote from this asshat at the end of the article?

"Emotional terrorism is probably a greater threat to us," he said as he waited for a train. "We need to look at the bigger picture.

"It seems there are so many other dangers in our society that end up getting ignored — housing, homelessness, poverty — that are in some ways more threatening," Odams said.

Y'know, I'm no great fan of gov't intrusivness, but I wonder if all we have is a difference of scale or technology. In the stereotypical "small town Americana" everybody knew what everybody else was doing - you knew your neighbors, there was always at least one busy-body nosing into everything, and even the "secrets" that weren't secrets. (Harper Valley PTA, anyone?).

Functional communities need nosy neighbors.

Gov't... aahhh, I dunno about that one, but until we shake the "government nanny" attitude we might be stuck for a while.

Um there are Chinese Muslims so it would stand to reason that there just might be extremists among all those darn "moderates."

Some people liked Candace Owens because she was a black woman who told hard truths about BLM and black criminality. But this was always a grift. She started out as a race hustler for a grift, then hustled race the other way to grift conservatives, and now she's back to being a race-hustler for the left again. Specifically, she is now claiming that people pointing out that she is legitimately low-IQ and can't pronounce half the words her AI-generated teleprompter script points out to her is racist and just Ben Shapiro's way of saying the n-word without quite saying it. You see, you can only say that black people are smart, and if you see a dumb one that doesn't know how to pronounce simple words while she poses as an investigatory journalist, you have to pretend she's actually smart or you're a racist. Weird, that doesn't sound very conservative, let alone "#Based," to me. To prove how much she hates racism, she then says that Ben Shapiro's Jew ancestors were masters of the slave trade.

Ami Kozak: Every single Tucker Carlson episode consists of him claiming he didn't say the things he said in the last episode
Also: this is the manipulation Tucker does that i hate the most. It's so cowardly. All he does is smear people (and Jews, generally), and then claim "I have nothing against [the person or group I just smeared.]" He'll even claim "I love [x], actually." Just again and again and again. It's all a lie, of course. A year ago he smeared Jews but added how beautiful he thought Israel was, and then two weeks ago, he said Israel is ugly as dog-shit and nothing beautiful has been built there "since 1948."
Just got this email from Dracula: "I love Van Helsing, actually, he's one of my personal heroes, if I'm being honest. I will claw the heart out of his belly and bathe in his blood before the children of Babylon, but I have nothing but respect for Van Helsing, actually. Love is the answer. Except for the followers of the Christ whom I am commanded to turn into my dark army of Satan. And I totally don't worship Satan, I just think we should listen to both sides. Hugs and kisses, may Van Helsing burn in the blood-red fires of hell throughout eternity, even though I consider him a close and dear friend, Vlad called Dracul."
