If This Isn't the "Angry" Left, What Is It?

The Pleased-as-Punch Left, perhaps? The Just-Being-Cool,-Chillin'-n'-Groovin' Left?

CAPTION: Sgt. 1st Class Jeff Due, right, a U.S. Army recruiter, is surrounded by protesters at Seattle Central Community College, Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, in Seattle. After about a 10-minute standoff during which protesters tore up U.S Army literature, the protesters were successful in getting Due and another recruiter to leave their table under escort by campus security officers. Several hundred students walked out of classes at several Seattle colleges and universities to protest the inauguration of President Bush.

Their respect for free speech and choice seems rather, let us say, "context-specific."

Thanks to William.

Looks like he had them outnumbered.

I wonder if they'll miss the irony at the next protest, rally, teach-in, or discussion group when they rail against the creeping military/police fascist state? Because, you know, one of the most notable characteristics of military/police facist states is that they allow moonbat juco students to run a senior Army NCO off campus, and further allow the pictures to be posted as news.

Now can I be the Angry Right?

Posted by: Brian B on January 21, 2005 06:09 PM

Oh well, but they support the troops.

Or rather, they proved to us when they say that they are lying. I don't know what impresses me more, their anger or their childish expression of same.

Do you ever have the feeling that you just want to hit someone?

Yeah.

Me too.

"Liberal" and "free speech" are synonymous to such people as are shown. So long as the "free speech" makes sense to them. Which limits it to liberal ideas.

Everything else uttered is nonsense and should not be spoken, lest some poor, stupid farmboy like me be misled.

Let's hope Mom and Dad saw this on the 10 o'clock.

Just who is it that is supposed to be censoring the opposition?

These....children are annoying.

Posted by: Joated on January 21, 2005 07:38 PM

Had some friends going to that school. A few of them left because it was so damn pink. At UW, there was this pointless walkout for people to congratulate themselves on how hip they are for not voting for Bushitler.

Posted by: jpok on January 21, 2005 07:59 PM

Maybe a total move of the Army and Navy base's is in order. Then Seattle would be happy.

Strangely enough, I just finished watching Brainwashing 101, a documentary by Evan Maloney. Some of the Left-wing behavior on college campuses is simply unbelievable.

Well, maybe it is believable. It's not like everyone in the country doesn't know what goes on at universities. But, still, it's strange to watch a university administration defend death threats levelled against a conservative. Here's a link:

I'd be willing to bet those brats are all the products of parents who thought any form of corporal punishment was unacceptable.

When I see this kind of idiotic behavior from what are supposed to be adults I find myself thinking more kindly about those National Guardsmen at Kent State.

The Brown Shirt left at work. Why were they not arrested for the destruction of government property?

Posted by: Fr. John Whiteford on January 21, 2005 09:05 PM

I've noticed over the years that they always look so grungy, filthy, and overall unkempt. These kind of people would not be ablt to properly wear a uniform of any sort. Let's call them the "dirty left."

Posted by: Mark on January 21, 2005 09:16 PM

I look at that picture and think to myself, "OF COURSE all those stories of uniformed servicemen getting spat on during the Vietnam war are urban legends. Completely unthinkable."

Posted by: Alex_fs on January 21, 2005 10:39 PM

That's what free speech is all about - shouting people down. Sometime the shouts are shrill, sometimes they're annoying, sometimes they're not. More often than not, they're all a disempowered group has to work with. Of course, as a defender of those with all the political power, you're opposed to it.

Posted by: Kelly Cooper on January 22, 2005 12:26 AM

Unfortunately, we're not seeing free speech in action here, and "shouting people down" (clearly the most idiotic definition of "free speech I've ever seen) is just a prelude to that other great tool of the "disempowered", mob violence. These people weren't protesting, or shouting the recruiter down, they were working themselves into a frenzy before committing violence against one of our brave men in uniform.

So "Kelly Cooper", if you were being ironic, poor taste. If you were being serious, please remove your head from your ass so the adults in the conversation can more clearly understand the shit dribbling from your communication organ.

My only hope is that this picture is in every newspapers. Protesters don't realize how bad they make themselves look. I want as many people to see this as possible. The more they see the further away they run.

I haven't been to the site listed on brainwashing, but I do feel so many of the far left have taken majors that don't require critical thinking -at least as presently taught on campus-that they only emote.Think of the Columbia Journalism grad student. He couldn't have known this was fourth rate work with his defense of CBS or he wouldn't have published it.If you're in a" Regurgitative Major "rather than a"Thought Major", following or deconstructing an argument is an alien concept.I think I will do a study on the proportion of students in a major who voted Democrat and correlate it with the difficulty of the field.

Yeah, but look at the Sgt. Didn't loose his cool. Kept a smile on his face. He won, and they don't even know it.

Christine:

The town I live in (major college town) would/will eat these pics up! How glorious someone stands up to that vicious tyrannical military!

If one's thought processes involve routing through the anal cavity, that's the kind of action one adores.

It's like a "Where's Waldo?" puzzle.

Posted by: rdbrewer on January 23, 2005 08:29 PM

Reminds me of a classic joke Reagan told when he was governor of California, commenting on some hippie anti-war protestors: "You know, they all say 'Make love, not war,' but looking at them, I don't think they could do either."

Posted by: Sarge6 on January 24, 2005 06:05 PM

Maybe some right-thinking folks out there with SCCC contacts can help ID a few of these baboons, and post the info all over the net? Then the perps would learn what it's like to be on the receiving end of harassment. And, isn't that cheap pink/violet rag one of the ugliest coats you've seen in a while?

This isn't Christmas Eve fare, and I thought about waiting until the 26th to post it, but supposedly an amateur detective has solved the Zodiac killer mystery. And the horrific Black Dahlia killing. He says it's the same person! I always thought of them as very far apart in time but I think Black Dahlia was mid-fifties (nope, 1947) mid and the Zodiac murders began in 1968 so it's possible it's the same killer.

The killer, if it's the same man, would have been in his 20s when he killed the Black Dahlia and his 40s when he did the Zodiac murders. Possible.

A little caveat: I saw someone snark on Reddit, "The Zodiac case gets solved more often than Wordle." There are a ton of coincidences here, supposedly, like a Zodiac cipher being solved by the name "Elizabeth." Elizabeth Short was the name of the so-called Black Dahlia.

If you don't know about the Black Dahlia, don't look it up. Just accept that it's grisly on the level of Jack the Ripper.

Yes, the named suspect resembles the police sketch of Zodiac.

Here's a podcast with the amateur sleuth who claims he cracked the Zodiac.

Megyn Kelly finally calls out Candace Owens
Whoops, I meant she bravely attacks Sydney Sweeney for "bending the knee." (Sweeney put out a very empty PR statement saying "I'm against hate." Whoop-de-doo.)
Megyn Kelly claims she doesn't want to call people out on the right when asked about Candace Owens but then has no compunctions at all about calling people out on the right.
As long as they're not Candace Owens. Strangely, she seems blind and deaf to anything Candace Owens says. That's why this woman calls her "Megyn Keller."
She's now asking her pay-pigs in Pakistan how they think she should address the Candace Owens situation, and if they think this is really all about Israel and the Jews.

More revelations about the least-sexy broken relationship in media history
I'd wanted to review Parts 2, 3, and 4 of Ryan Lizza's revenge posts about Olivia Nuzzi, but they're all paywalled. I thought about briefly subscribing to get at them, but then I read this in Part 2:
Remember the bamboo from Part 1?

Do I ever! It's all I remember!
Well, bamboo is actually a type of grass, and underground, it's all connected in a sprawling network, just like the parts of this story I never wanted to tell. I wish I hadn't been put in this position, that I didn't have to write about any of this, that I didn't have to subject myself or my loved ones to embarrassment and further loss of privacy.

We're back to the fucking bamboo. Guys, I don't think I can pay for bamboo ruminations.
I think he added that because he was embarrassed about all the bamboo imagery from Part 1. He's justifying his twin obsessions: His ex, and bamboo. Which is not a tree but a kind of grass, he'll have you know.
Olivia Nuzzi's crappy Sex and the City fanfic book isn't selling, says CNN (and CNN seems pretty pleased about that)
On Tuesday, the book arrived in stores. At lunchtime, in the Midtown Manhattan nexus of media and publishing, interest in Nuzzi's story seemed more muted. The Barnes and Noble on Fifth Avenue had seven copies tucked into a "New & Notable" rack next to the escalator, below Malala Yousafzai's "Finding My Way." Not many had sold so far, a store employee said.

A few blocks uptown, at a branch of the local independent chain McNally Jackson Books, a few volumes lay on a table of new and noteworthy nonfiction near the front of the store. No one was lining up to get them, or even browsing. Bookseller Alex Howe told CNN around 3 p.m. that though the store had procured "several dozen" copies, not a single one had yet sold -- a figure he said was surprising, considering how many people in media and publishing work in the area.

"We ordered a lot and so far, people have not been beating down the door," Howe said. "I'm not sure where we're gonna put them because right now, supply is outpacing demand." (A manager at McNally Jackson noted that Howe was speaking only in a personal capacity, not as a representative of the store.)

She trashes Ryan Lizza for his "Revenge Porn" here. Emily Jashinsky says that when the Bulwark's gay grifter Tim Miller asked why she didn't report on the (alleged) use of ketamine by RFKJr., she broke down in tears and asked to end the interview.
