« Grand Jury Investigating Sandy "Socks" Berger | Main | Rather Unrepentant »
January 11, 2005

"Socs Docs" Stunner

Maybe some or most of you knew this-- I didn't, or if I ever knew, I'd forgotten.

Did anyone know that...

Berger admits removing 40 to 50 top-secret documents from the archives, but claims it was an "honest mistake" made while he vetted documents for the 9/11 commission's probe into the Twin Towers attacks.

Berger has also acknowledged that he destroyed some documents — he says by accident.

It's unclear if he destroyed documents with handwritten notations that don't appear on other copies.

40 to 50 top-secret documents-- all an honest mistake?

I thought we were talking about four or five documents.

Yeah I remember that. Dunno if I remember that many though. The thing about that story that always made me laugh was how they used "honest mistake" and "stuffing documents in his socks/shoes" in the same sentence.

Aaah. That liberal press sure is refershing at times. Always good for a laugh.

Next on CBS news:

DC Beltway sniper John Allen Muhammad admits that he just accidentally shot over a dozen people.
"I was just driving around with guns in my vans, thanks to evil NRA loving Republicans, when they accidentally discharged. It was an honest mistake."

Yeah, I heard Dick Cheny came to him in his dreams and told him to sign a no-big contract with Halliburton to construct the sniper-nest in the trunk of his car. Damn those jingo-facists.

Have you seen Sandy's pants? 40 or 50 documents just begin to fill those suckers up. I bet he could stuff a few reams into those leg-tents.

(oh, he was wearing them at the time? never mind)

Berger is a OK guy for a Democrat, not that it is saying much put that way....

The guy made a huge mistake, doesn't have a document-stuffed leg to stand on, and is rightly shitting bricks as he awaits a Grand Jury indictment.

But he is no traitor.

I'd rather see real traitors like the female Chinese dual-agent and her FBI lover get strung up - but she is in the clear for now because lawyers found the FBI committed process errors in their investigation and the whole investigation had to be thrown out and may not be re-opened. And the unfolding Israel spy scandal that has implicated several Jewish-Americans at AIPAC, DOD...plus a few sympathetic Christian Zionists....may yield another crop of traitors.

I realize fully well that prominent Democrats aren't subject to the same laws as the rest of us. However, I am still amazed - and appalled - that Sandy Berger hasn't already been indicted on felony charges of (at least) mishandling classified information. I am a former US Army electronic warfare specialist (MOS 98G, EW/SIGINT Voice Interceptor). This was, needless to say, a position that required a security clearance. I am aware of several people, one of whom I knew personally, who were stripped of their security clearances and threatened with court-martials simply for taking notes during training and then taking the notes back to the barracks after hours to study for tests; the notes themselves were classified, you see. And here we have Sandy Berger, who removed 40 or 50 classified documents from a secure government facility and lost or destroyed some of them, and he has YET TO EVEN BE INDICTED?! Never mind why he did it; the mere fact that he stole those documents in the first place ought to guarantee him a lengthy vacation in Fort Leavenworth! If Berger is allowed to get away with this . . . Oh, never mind. God knows the Clinton crowd has gotten away with everything else, haven't they?

Question:

How does one "accidently" destroy a top-secret document?

Posted by: Ron on January 11, 2005 10:44 PM

What Cedarford says is likely true, that Berger's no traitor. But neither were Wes' acquaintances.

A screw up is a screw up, and there was legitimate concern that Berger had slipped through the cracks. Which would suck, because he's a screw up.

And the humor we have to look forward to, as he continues this lame line about the 40 or 50 "accidents"! It brings to mind a joke I received the other day:

An elderly couple are sitting around one evening and the man says to his wife, "Marsha, we are about to celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary. We've had a wonderful life together, full of contentment and blessings. But there's something I've always wondered about. Tell me the truth. Have you ever been unfaithful to me?"

She hesitated a moment, then said, "Yes, Sidney, three times."

"Three times? How could that happen?" Sidney asks.

Marsha replied, "Well, do you remember right after we were married and we were so broke that the bank was about to foreclose on our little house?"

"Yes, dear, those were really difficult times," replied Sidney.

"And remember when I went to see the banker one night, and the next day the bank extended our loan?"

"Gosh, that's really hard to take," said Sidney. "But since things were so bad at the time, I guess I can forgive you. What was the second time? "

"Well," Marsha continued, "do you remember years later when you almost died of that heart problem because we couldn't afford an operation?"

"Yes, of course," said Sidney.

"Then you will remember that right after I went to see the doctor, he performed the operation at no cost?"

"Yes, I remember," said Sidney, "and as much as that shocks me!, I do understand that you did what you did out of love for me, so I forgive you. So, what was the third time?"

Marsha lowered her head and said, "Do you remember when you ran for president of your golf club and you needed 62 more votes?"

Jesus Fucking Christ, Cedarford, can't you discuss anything without bringing up the Zionists? Hitler had less of a one track mind, you disgusting fuck.

Posted by: Mr. Bowen on January 11, 2005 11:20 PM

We all know Berger swiped the document to cover up for some huge fuckup he doesn't want to be blamed for. And we're pissed he's going to get away with it. We wish he would just come clean and throw himself on the mercy of the court, but he won't. He'll stonewall and blubber and get away with it. He learned from the best.

Months ago, I reported that the final Zodiac cypher had been cracked and the name of the killer revealed. And the name of the killer turned out to be someone suspected in the unsolved Black Dahlia murder. The general tone of my mention of this was "serious you guys, this is real."
Well, it's not real. It's total bullshit.
Sorry about that. I did two things: 1, I bought into something, a conspiracy theory really, because it was new and exciting. And 2, I allowed a self-declared "expert" to snow me over with his "expert" claims about solving ciphers, an alleged expertise I could not challenge because I know practically nothing about codebreaking. I remember being similarly swindled by self-declared "experts" babbling about "chromatic aberrations." (Although I didn't really buy into that, but I found it "interesting" and I wasn't strongly skeptical about it. Hey they said they're "experts," they must know that they're talking about, right?)
I screwed up. It won't be the last time, I'm sure.

Chocolate Cherry Cordial
You must not think me mad when I tell you what I found below the thin shell of chocolate used to disguise this bonbon's true face. Yes! Hidden beneath its rich exterior is a hideously moist cherry cordial! What deranged architect could have engineered this non-Euclidean aberration? I dare not speculate.

There is a dimension ruled by a blind caramel God-King who sits on a vast, cyclopean milk-chocolate throne while his mindless, gooey followers dance to the piping of crazed flutes. It is said that there are gateways in our world that lead to this caramel hell-planet. The delectable Caramel Chew may be one such portal.

The Short Unhappy Life of a Russian Soldier: Why recruits die in 20-30 minutes
Interesting video. Some key parts: drones were responsible for 70-80% of all battlefield deaths in mid-2025, and I bet it's higher now. The Russian army is incredibly corrupt. Men get assigned to the most dangerous frontline units, the "Storm" units, unless they pay a superior $2,000 to be assigned to a different unit. Furthermore, there is often no real training for recruits -- commanders pocket the money that would have gone towards fuel and ammo costs incurred during training. Much "training" consists just of taking a single picture of soldiers doing something soldier-y, like fording a river, and publishing that as proof that the training was done. Even when it is done, training is only two weeks long.
