Humor on Campus: Let's Kill Some Republicans

Big funny:

Pat Rothfuss, a University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point faculty member, has been writing his sarcastic, satirical column in UWSP's student newspaper for years.

...

But a group of students from the UWSP College Republicans organization wasn't laughing Nov. 4 when a post-election Rothfuss column included phrases like "punching smug-looking Republicans in the mouth" and "key every car you see with a Bush bumper sticker." The column's premise was that Rothfuss was drunk while writing to himself, and it suggested, "why don't you go on a killing spree? I pet you can take out fixteen for sisteen republicans beofre they gun you down. Duke, youd' be like a heroe."

Isn't it funny that the folks whose right to free expression has been so "chilled" are permitted to make such statements, whereas were I to do the same -- lowly blogger that I am -- I'd be excoriated and I'd never get another job?

I hear that! We are not the only ones that see the hatred of these people who insist they are the moral ones. And they think they are worthy to run a country. Scary.

We just have to remember that they are the minority even within their own party. And with Michael Moore's leadership they will lose even the Democrat leadership support.

That would do the country good, and maybe we could lose some on the right as well to balance it out. I could do without the shrill voices from the fringe spouting intolerance and elitism at everyone that doesn't agree with them.

What ever happened to debate, discussion and compromise. I believe its only drowned out by the left and right screeching. If we can quiet the extremities we could reunite the nation through the blogsphere. Well hell, I can dream can't I?

why don't you go on a killing spree? I pet you can take out fixteen for sisteen republicans beofre they gun you down.

With what? Biting sarcasm? Parody? I doubt this jagoff has ever handled a gun, whereas the Republicans he's targeting--well, at least one of those "fixteen for sisteen" is probably an NRA member.

It's too bad this guy wasn't thinking straight when he wrote his column. I mean, he'll probably get fired because it violates the campus speech code. Oh, wait...

Posted by: Sean M. on December 16, 2004 04:55 AM

For all his tough guy bluster, why do I have the feeling he'd be sporting visible pee-pee tracks if you approached him with so much as a clenched fist?

Posted by: Jason on December 16, 2004 09:16 AM

Excoriated? Pft. In most states, you'd be arrested and charged with a crime.

But, you see, it's okay for liberals.

I pet you can take out fixteen for sisteen republicans beofre they gun you down.

Nah, two, maybe three before they got you. Don't you know? Us Republicans are gun-carrying wackos.

Posted by: Xoxotl on December 16, 2004 09:19 AM

Maybe Chevy Chase and him should get together and throw parties or something.

Posted by: Jeremy on December 16, 2004 09:48 AM

Until we as conservatives begin using the power of the boycott (that the Left hijacked from us forty years ago) we face an uphill battle against Liberalism. We all had hopes that things would change by government action in the same way that Liberals imposed their insane agenda upon us all. But the real power has always belonged to those who fight, and to fight means to fight by boycotting the sources of funding for Liberals. If conservatives withdrew their children from this school en masse at once, the result would be drastic and immediate. This goes for all things Liberal. No matter how stubborn and entrenced they may be, when they meet a determined, lengthy and effective boycott like those during the civil rights era, they shall fold like the rotten house of cards that they are. And I fear, not before.

"The issue isn't Rothfuss' right to free speech, some College Republicans have said, but rather the appropriateness of a faculty member making such statements. Conservative or Republican students might feel uncomfortable or intimidated expressing their opinions in Rothfuss' classes, said College Republican Josh Schroeder.

"I understood that he wasn't being serious," Schroeder said. "But I also feel that if someone with a conservative point of view would have said anything half as incredulous in a satire article, ... we would have had the book thrown at us."

First off, it's "incredible," not "incredulous," Josh. And second, you guys are acting too much like liberals. College Republicans instead should confront this dick in person wherever you find him, and challenge the tough guy to go ahead and take his best fuckin' shot.

Posted by: Alex on December 16, 2004 01:09 PM

How about signing up for his class, then standing up during a lecture, announcing that you voted for George Bush, and asking him if he'd like to take his best shot? Bringing a video camera would ensure a priceless moment.

Posted by: Conspiracy of 1 on December 16, 2004 01:47 PM

I agree with ALEX and Conspiracy about confronting this scumbag in person. You are right, it does need to be done. And concerted actions like this would put some respect in 'em. But ask youself this: what, precisely, is it that the Left has that so intimidates big business and all of us? Why can Jesse Jackson shakedown corporations to pay off his mistresses with impunity? Is it only the threat of Liberal bad press? Is it just the protestors? No, it is the credible threat of BOYCOTT that makes everyone run for the tall grass. It is the threat of hurting our livelihoods that makes us all sucumb to the Left's intimidation. Very few people agee with the Left. Yet they reign over us still like monarchs. Why? Because until we can match them on the field of battle in economic boycott we shall continue to be hindered and their shrill insanity shall go on and on. They derive their power from intimidation through boycott. We must take back that power from them, no matter how long the struggle. We cannot expect the Republicnas or a consevative Supreme Court to do for us what me must do for ourselves. They won't and they can't until we make 'em. There really is no other way.
THE RIGHT MUST BOYCOTT!

We have met with him in person. He came to the College Republican before Aaron's letter to the editor was published in the next issue of the student newspaper. Perhaps we were timid in not breaking the story earlier or demanding greater action. Like I've said, he has his free speech just like everyone else, but with free speech comes more free speech. Our main goal is to make people in the state of Wisconsin and throughout the country aware of this "satire" piece and to ask if they think it is appropriate conduct for a faculty member and if there should be consequences.

I can understand the urge to boycott. I do feel guilty that I am monitarily supporting the ivory tower in Stevens Point, WI. However, should we retreat from here and hide in our own little conservative schools? I don't think so. The UW system is good, though it has its flaws (many of whom have tenure). If we pull out of our state schools, we would only hand them over to the leftist agenda. The UWSP College Republicans are growing in number. Conservative college students are beginning more and more to publically stand up and make their voices heard. We're not going to retreat. We're spreading conservative ideals. We are working toward a better tomorrow. We are fighting for a share in the academic marketplace of ideas and breaking the notion that college kids are mostly leftist.

If people want to email the UWSP administration and tell them what they think about this situation, I welcome it. If people want to stop donating to UWSP, I welcome it. If people are considering not coming to UWSP because it's too liberal, I think they've got it backwards. Join us in scaling the ivory tower! It will force you to think about your views and give you ample opportunity to defend them. I agree that a message from the right needs to be sent, but the right must maintain a presence from within.

Posted by: Josh Schroeder on December 17, 2004 06:10 AM

Nobody sees the irony in the above comments? You're so offended by the violence of this guy's article that you respond with such things as:

I doubt this jagoff has ever handled a gun, whereas the Republicans he's targeting--well, at least one of those "fixteen for sisteen" is probably an NRA member

and

College Republicans instead should confront this dick in person wherever you find him, and challenge the tough guy to go ahead and take his best fuckin' shot.

How about a more mature response to such an immature attack?

Posted by: MAD on December 17, 2004 11:23 AM

I would like to explicitly state that the UWSP administration is receptive to what we have to say about faculty professionalism and the free marketplace of ideas. I've done some thinking, and people ceasing to donate to UWSP would hurt everyone, not just the campus leftists. I think the chancellor and vice-chancellors will give us a fair shake and will follow through on the issues of bias on campus, students rights, and professionalism.

Posted by: Josh Schroeder on December 17, 2004 04:45 PM

Please email Pat Rothfuss at prothfus@uwsp.edu

Do this - Demand an apology, tell him it's not funny. What if we said go to UWSP and kill 15 or 16 students, key any car with a campus sticker on it, punch a UWSP student on the mouth or burn down their house.

Also, email the Chancellor and English Dept.
www.uwsp.edu - college
chancoff@uwsp.edu - Chancellor

Rothfuss is an arrogant ass who believes the college republicans on campus can't do anything to him.

The student republicans almost got an apology, but he turned his back and walked away from them, said he would make fun of republicans till their ears bled. (check out the site).

We can win this one, flood him and the school with emails, please!

Thanks in advance.

@TCNetwork

The people in charge [Jews, of course -- ace] don't want you to know this, but Muslims love Jesus.

Islam reveres Him as a major prophet and messenger of the Lord, believes He performed miracles, and states that He will return to Earth to defeat the Antichrist. That's why Donald Trump's painting depicting himself as the Son of God offended the president of Iran. It was an attack on his religion as well as Christianity.

Trump's trolling tweet was ill-advised, but Tucker is just lying when he claims the Christianity-hating President of Iran was "offended" by this.
He's one step away from announcing his official conversion to Islam. He literally never stops praising Islam. Well, he suddenly became Christian two years ago, there's not much stopping him from converting again.
