Warming the Cockles

Hoke here.

The Bush win was fantastic.

But talk about a gift that keeps on giving.

Read Donna Brazile's Slate column.

Tapping Into the Obama Factor

I, too, hail from red America. The people from my native South are not necessarily more racist or less tolerant than other parts of the country. In fact, I find white Southerners to be more candid about their feelings on race and religion. Some of them honestly believe that by discriminating they are doing God's work, and instead of pulling out of the South, Democrats should re-engage them.

Lovely. The folks from her region are not necessarily more racist or less tolerant than those from other parts of the country. Translation -- "Well, they really are, but at least they're straight up that Jesus is communicating to them through their tin foils hats to kill the black man, and dammit, I respect that."

In the rest of the piece, Brazile explains why her family is the best - even her recovering Republican sister - and tosses off a vignette about that sister having her preacher threaten the congreagtion (using the words go to hell) if it voted for Kerry. The story is almost assuredly a lie (it is such a lame trope that I haven't seen it on The West Wing yet), but in the lie, the real truth emerges. Brazile presumes that the South is so hateful, narrow, and racist that just such a tale is plausible -- at least, to the readers of Slate.

Brazile continues:

You see, despite our personal differences on matters of faith and religion, we believe that in order to be good disciples of Jesus, you have to not only know his words but also perform his deeds. That is where we draw the line with those who spend hours and hours in church, only to come out and hate everyone around them.

Translation -- The South is a hellhole, spewing vile hatemongers from the bellies of its noxious churches every Sunday (except for Brazile's "recovering" sister).

And her conclusion?

More Barack Obamas and, I'm not kidding you, that Democrats must speak in a language that allows all voters to know we share their outlook for a strong and prosperous country.

Places like South Carolina and Oklahoma are so noncompetitive that halfwits like Jim DeMint and Tom Coburn can defeat their Democratic opponents even if both congressman were caught buck-naked at a squirrel roast and they wore flowered bathing caps on Russert.

And Brazile's advice?

Keep the same tune, change a few words, and those religi-racist retards will get back on the team that's good for them.

Like I said, the gift that keeps on giving.

Ehh. Whatever we do, we will always be told we are racist, Bible-thumpin' retards, and bigoted dead-heads. This is because, you realize, lots of people disagreed with "those that know better", such as Brazile.

These "reality-based" people just keep on lying to us and to themselves.

I think we should send them mirrors so they can look at themselves, and see true bigotry and lying malice.

'Nuff said.

Didn't Kerry campaign from the pulpit for five straight Sundays? Just asking.

Posted by: Joe R. the Unabrewer on November 7, 2004 07:59 PM

Was Donna B. the Kerry adviser who suggested that when JFK campaigned in the South that he should go into a sporting goods store and ask:

"Can I get me a darkie to take a'huntin'?"

Oh wait, he never campaigned in the South, unless you count coming by for cocktails at the swanky homes to pick up campaign checks.

Note how, in what was intended to be a very controlled article, Brazile could not resist (or did not notice) calling Washington, D. C. a colony. Though I must confess that I commonly refer to it as a liberal plantation, I seldom do so unintentionally.

I find it very unlikely that the Democrats can give up the Orwellian cant that serves as the "secret" handshake within their ranks and marks them instantly for those of us on the outside. Likewise, they cannot give up the mind set that casts them and their clients as victims and measures the world in outcomes rather than effort.

I hope Hoke is not bashing Jim DeMint. Being from SC and knowing DeMinit and his policies, He is going to be one of the best conservative senators. And from what I hear about Coburn is that he will be good too.

I will give you the fact that DeMint is not the best speaker in the world. He does not reek charisma. He is more of a policy wonk, but he knows his stuff and is a true conservative.

I would rather have DeMint over someone like McCain anyday!

"We must acknowlege with humility that what we stand for no longer resonates with a sizeable chunk of Americans." And her soloution? "... speak in a language that allows all voters to know we share their outlook ..." "... resist going back to using terms like affirative action, pro choice, union, and 'the movement' to describe what we're for ..." Dear Donna, it is my fondest hope that you will do exactly that, because people know who you really are no matter how hard you try to hide it from them. The days of the Old Media Monopoly are Gone With The Wind, and like the Confederacy, shall never to return again. As Zell Miller put it: "Democrats offered no sloution that was either believeable or acceptable to vast regions of America." Can I get an Amen?

Blue Devils--

I know people who know Coburn and say he's just the nicest guy--as well as a solid tax-cutting social conservative. Michelle Malkin called him one of her favorite conservatives. I think he'll do a lot to keep the party anchored.

Consequently, he and DeMint were targeted for some of the most angry crap Kos & Dowd & co. could fling through the bars.

ABsolutely, better them than a prima donna like McCain!

They aren't going to embrace it. It's too painful to them. They went so far off the deep end they can't come back.

Tough shit.

Important Message from Recent Convert to Christianity and Yet Super-Serious Christian Tuq'r Qarlson: Actually Muslims love Jesus, it's Trump and his neocons who hate him
Tucker Carlson Network
@TCNetwork

The people in charge [Jews, of course -- ace] don't want you to know this, but Muslims love Jesus.

Islam reveres Him as a major prophet and messenger of the Lord, believes He performed miracles, and states that He will return to Earth to defeat the Antichrist. That's why Donald Trump's painting depicting himself as the Son of God offended the president of Iran. It was an attack on his religion as well as Christianity.

Trump's trolling tweet was ill-advised, but Tucker is just lying when he claims the Christianity-hating President of Iran was "offended" by this.
He's one step away from announcing his official conversion to Islam. He literally never stops praising Islam. Well, he suddenly became Christian two years ago, there's not much stopping him from converting again.
You can track Tuq'r's official conversion to Islam with this Bingo card.
