Rather in the Dock; McEnroe's Ratings in the Ditch

Good gossip today. Dan Rather's being grilled over his complicity in peddling forgeries to the American people, while John McEnroe is being paid one million dollars to host a show that, out of 834 cable shows, is coming in... 833rd.

The one show he's beating? The Food Network's How to Boil Water.

You think that's a joke. And yet, you'd be wrong.

Is there a point at which MSNBC becomes obligated to pay advertisers to allow their products to be associated with their basement shows. I guess that would define the awaited negative rating.

McEnroe's actually on CNBC.

MSNBC has the scary-funny Keith Olbermann on at that time.

How To Boil Water is so much better...

Ace--

Pardon me while I announce that I was the first person to call CNBC onto the carpet for hiring McEnroe instead of me.

God, I can't believe this guy is still on the air.

Cheers,
Dave

How is this guy any worse than Chris Mathews? And CNBC, MSNBC, it's all the same.

McEnroe is an excellent tennis announcer. So far it is the only thing at which he has shown any proficiency since he retired from professional tennis.

Original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley dies at age 74
I heard that his solo album, back when each member of KISS cut their own record, was pretty good.
Here's that solo album, from 1978. Sounds a bit like The Sweet.
Eleventh Starship/Superheavy a complete success
"On the eleventh orbital test flight today of Starship/Superheavy, SpaceX basically achieved all its engineering goals, with both Superheavy and Starship completing their flights as planned, with Superheavy doing a soft vertical splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico, and Starship doing a soft vertical splashdown in the Indian Ocean." The architectural history of the spooky old house
Kind of interesting, looks at the design cues that inform stuff like the Addams Family Mansion and the other media "spooky old houses" of our imagination

Twitch's prized terrorist Hasan Piker activates his dog's shock collar because it... got up and walked two feet away from its designated area
I saw Nuxanor claiming that Piker is claiming he feels physically unsafe in public. it takes some real gall to play the Real Victim Here card, given that he has called for the murders of Senator Rick Scott and Josh Hawley Tom Cotton and anyone who owns property
Chris Dreja RIP: of the legendary 60s Rock band The Yardbirds has died at 79. Dreja co-founded The Yardbirds in 1963; playing rhythm guitar alongside lead axman Tom Topham, singer Keith Relf, drummer Jim McCarthy and bassist Paul Samwell-Smith. The group would go on to feature three of the most celebrated guitarists in rock history in Eric Clapton, who replaced Topham in 1993; Jeff Beck, who took over for Clapton in 1965; and future Led Zeppelin heavyweight Jimmy Page, who joined in 1966; when Samwell-Smith left. I have no regrets about quitting the NFL.
I also have no regrets about quitting the increasingly gay James Bond:
Bleeding Fool
@BleedingFool

Amazon removed the guns from key art used on every James Bond film on Prime -ostensibly to provide a unified look for the series on streaming. Alas, removing the weapons left 007 in some awkward poses.
What does this portend about Amazon MGM's handling of Bond?

Censored images of Bond, now disarmed, here
