Hmm - Googling on that email address, one comes up with this nice little article, where he suggests that Bush and Cheney should be jailed, and that the Mossad knew all about 9/11 beforehand, and told us about it.

I think we know why Dan Rather won't put him on TV as an "unimpeachable source."

Which came first?

Burkett being denied medical care?

Or, Burkett "witnessing" the Bush Docs being scrubed?

Msg to Mr. Bill Burkett:

Can you tell us how old you are? And do you have any ideas on who the forgerer is? Why not join in the hunt? Did you show any of the papers in the trash can to someone who could have used them to make the forgeries? Someone, perhaps, who pumped you for info on who the players were in 72, 73. Someone to whom you may have mentioned Staudt's name? You, of couse, would know, being there at the time, that he had already retired in 1972. So who did you tell, without mentioning the retirement? Even better - if you Google Bill Burkett in Groups (oddly, I can't post the link), you get lots of articles where he claims that Bush doctored his records.

By his own words and by the company he keeps, I've little doubt now that this Burkett character is a deeply disturbed individual who genuinely doesn't realize how he sounds to those who aren't already bathing in the Kool-Aid.

blaster, I would not have posted his phone number. That's cheap, and a lousy idea. He may be responsible for the forgeries (I think so), he may not...but I think it's a bad idea to send harrassing phone calls his way right now.

Burkett posted his phone number 92 times on google, he should also contact them and remove it quickly.

Hmmm, lots of questions now. Why did Mr. Burkett make a posting on August 14, 2004 at steveverdon.com/archives/politics/001110.html when all their other posts were in Feb 04? Who/what prompted him to post it in August? Did he even post it, or did someone do it in his name? I wonder if this same post appears on other sites too? Was this in preparation to back up the forthcoming seeBS claims in Sept? Could he be a red herring? Somehow connected, but not the actual forgerer? In other places on the net, his postings do seem (?) to have the correct abbreviations for the ranks, unlike the forged docs.

Ben Barnes claims that while he was Lt. Governor he helped "pull strings" to get Bush into the Texas Air National Guard.

According to the Texas Archives and Barnes' own bio, he was sworn in as Lt. Governor on Jan. 21, 1969.

But Bush enlisted in the TANG on May 27, 1968. Preston Smith was Lt. Governor at that time, not Barnes who had not even been elected to the office yet.

Why would Barnes, as Lt. Governor, be needed to help Bush who had already been in the TANG for 8 months before Barnes even took office?

Why is no one in the media picking up on this fact, proving Barnes is a liar about being asked to help Bush?

Just for fun I googled for Burkett as a poster in the newsgroups and found this (can't seem to post the link, but it's the first result):

Might be a different Bill Burkett; the email addy looks like it goes to a South Carolina company. But a Bill Burkett having some trouble with Word 2000 is certainly suggestive.

If that really was him (a) I think Newsweak has nailed him; and (b) the man is a complete fruitcake.

Since the military in the early 1970s used smaller typing paper (usually 8 x 10) rather than the current "copy" paper (usually 8 1/2 x 11) that is now widely used, has anyone investigated how this physical difference affects the margin settings of the apparent forged documents?

The one problem with Bill Burkett being the author of these documents is the reference to an "OETR" in the CYA document. No former Army or Air Force officer would refer to an OER as an OETR (In the Navy, we called them FitReps BTW).

I wonder if we will ever see the documents. I can't believe they are "originals" on paper available during that period.

If Burkett's the source, I'd bury him deep. Very deep. Having spent the last half hour checking all the links, all I can say is, this man believes he's being persecuted, and keeps alleging things that no one trying to sanitize a record would do.

Hell, we shred stuff that's not even vaguely sensitive, just to protect privacy in our office. If I were concealing something, I'd shred twice.

Another point:

Burkett's story from 1997 about the supposed scrubbing of Bush's military records is he saw some documents lying amidst packing material in a "gun-barrel" shaped 15-gallon trash can. It seems doubtful he could even see anything in such a can given that the documents would have to be crushed to fit in without falling out, especially if there were objects on top as he describes.

During Watergate, a man who knew too much about the prostitution ring/Columbia Plaza connection was institutionalized by a judge. The man was a lawyer and he couldn't save himself. Don't let that happen to Burkett. Who knows if the posts attributed to him are really from him. He may just be a scapegoat, with things posted to make him look insane.

I just checked the links in BR's post regarding the fact that Bush entered the TANG in 1968, while Ben Barnes was not sworn in as LG of Texas until 1969 - this is massive!! Forget the forged documents - here is a lie that cannot be denied!

BTW, Burkett, Barnes, and Rather seem to be following the Mark Furrman/LAPD method of trying to convict a 'guilty' man. They are so sure that this story is true, but in order to prove an unverifiable story, they make up evidence and torpedo the whole case. What a bunch of fucking idiots!

I've looked at all the PDF properties.

The PDFs on CBS were created on Sept. 8.

The PDFs on USA Today were created on Sept. 9 and modified on Sept. 11.

The PDFs on Fox were created on February 6th! and faxed somewhere on September 10th.

Ace, the original post the Burkett comment was appended to was dated February 18, 2004. The first 4 comments on that post are also dated that day. Burkett's comment in which he makes the claim about seeing a memo about counseling signed by Killian is dated August 14, 2004.

A suspicious person might wonder whether the author of that comment was trolling around trying to create a pixel trail, in anticipation of the forged documents being released a few weeks later.
