« Did CBSNews Lie to Maj. Gen. Hodges to Dishonestly Cadge a False "Second Source"? | Main | Question: Who Is Gerald Lechliter? »
September 11, 2004

If It Never Comes Down, Was It Actually a "Bounce"?

Newsweek: 50-45 in 2-way heat among registered voters; 49-43 3-way.

Time: still an eleven point lead among likely voters, 52-41 in 3-way heat.

Have two key swing states already swung? USAToday/Gallup puts Bush up by 14 in Missouri, 9 in Ohio.

I don't want to say that Democrats are getting desperate for good news, but Terry McAuliffe just announced that Kerry is up 75%-0% in a poll of Dan Rather's immediate family. (One daughter's voting for Nader, but Dan the Document Man is "working on her.")

This is why you hear random alarmist-sounding stuff from Bush people, a la "too close to call."

They fear too much good news.

But it aint that close.

MSM John Kerry negative feedback loop initiating.

When Howard Dean looked like he was about to a) win the nomination and b) totally repel 60% of American voters, mainstream media were complicit in allowing his "Scanners" speech to do in his candidacy. At that time, the idea was that Dean's candidacy should die for the good of the party.

Now, when even Boondocks is piling on Kerry, the MSM are faced with a choice: go down with him (ala CBS) or let him sink. (My theory is that without constant media tongue-biting, Kerry's many gaffes would have already destroyed him if reported honestly - he's just not very likable). Look for increasing reportage of the Kerry-camp-in-crisis. For the good of the party, his looming loss needs to be about Kerry and Bush, not about the ideas of the campaign.

Fantastic point.

I agree, and I think we have seen very plainly which networks and which papers are jettisoning the story. And notice Fox's kid-gloves: it's letting ABC and NYT kill the documents, just chiming in a witness and a summary here and there.

Also, wouldn't Time be cooking their numbers a little better if they were still boostering for Kerry?

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
