David Horowitz on Zell Miller -- and Andrew Sullivan

How could such an article not be linked here?

Great article.

One unexpected critic who joined this crowd of low-minded mudslingers is Andrew Sullivan, who should know better. Sullivan dredged up a forty-year-old segregationist quote of Miller’s, presenting it as though it were current news. It might well be current news if Miller were still a segregationist in the way say that Jane Fonda or John Kerry are still leftists defending their attacks on American soldiers in Vietnam.

. . .

Andrew Sullivan has been one of the most interesting commentators on the war in Iraq, defending the President’s policy while others turned their backs on the battle. But lately he has had second thoughts. These seem to have been prompted by his sharp and understandable dissent from the President’s domestic policy on gay marriage . . .

(Emphasis mine.)

(Time to fix the comments, slacker.)

OT: Ace, here's some of Kerry's rapier-like wit on display, courtesy of the Allahpundit: LINK : ""I'm so excited to see you, and I think you're hot," an ebullient Bethany Briggs, 40, of Mebane, told Kerry. His daughter, Vanessa, who was in the audience, buried her head in her hands.

"That's not the way she thinks about her father," Kerry quipped. "But at my age, that sounds good."

That's a "quip"? Sounds like Schnappsy McDrunkerton has been hitting the Stella Artois again. Exhibit B: ""The most catastrophic decisions (Bush) has made is the mess that has made in Iraq," At Yale, teaches you to talk good.

Seriously, how lame. And kinda weird.

Wow: Zell, Sully, Abu Ghraib & uranium from Niger. Proof positive that Horowitz is responding to your hypno-matic mind scans. Try to get him to work in Johnny Coldcuts, Paul Anka & a TopTen.

As a formerly huge admirer of Andrew Sullivan, I can only conclude that Andy needed all that extra bandwidth to get a running start so he could jump the shark.

OUT F*ing STANDING article!!!!

Posted by: Cowtipper on September 7, 2004 09:47 PM

O.T., but too good not to share...

The author of "The Uncivil War" (election politics) was interviewed on a local station this a.m. and he seemed a thoughtful, coherent type, but my jury was out on him until the last question. The reporterette asked him if he thought it was bad leadership for someone to always rely on experts (as John Kerry says he would do).

The author responded with an apparently well-know quip of, "I'd rather be governed by the first 2,000 people in the Boston phone directory than the whole faculty at Harvard."

Clicking off to Amazon to buy his book...

Good read, thanks for linking it.

Joan -

That "first 2000 people" is an old William F. Buckley quip, in case you didn't know

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
