Having It Both Ways, Again: Terezzza Sezza Attacks on Husband Hurt Troop Morale

Liberals are always complaining about (usually mythical) conservative charges that their anti-war and anti-American agitation hurts troops morale. They say, rightly, that one can't simply forgo one's right to debate issues of war and peace simply because such a debate might undermine troop morale; if that's the case, how could these issues ever be debated at all?

A good point, but then, they're usually attacking straw men. The actual number of times this charge has been made, in blanket form, against liberals by responsible and prominent conservatives is pretty low. Specific scurrilous charges which slander the conduct of our troops and brand them killers (as F9-11 and John Kerry's 1971 testimony both did) -- yes, that constitutes a slanderous attack that gratuitously undermines morale when a more truthful and reasonable argument ("This war is bad policy") would not.

But, again having it both ways at once, Terrezzzza claims that questioning her gigolo's war record is hurting the morale of our Iraq and Afghanistan troops.

Can't. Fucking. Have It. Both Ways at Once, guys.

This is a nasty habit of liberals generally, and Terezzza especially. These people whine all day about people "questioning their patriotism" and then they do precisely that when attacking their opponents. Terezzza goes from claiming that we all have the right to dissent without being branded anti-American to hinting darkly about "un-American traits" among some political actors (namely, her gigolo's political opponents).

Don't forget the "Benedict Arnold" corporations and the Kerry promise to "appoint a U.S. trade representative who is an American patriot." The obvious implication being that Robert Zoellick is a traitor.

I personally love it when this crone opens her mouth. Let her talk more. She is a fucking idiot. She needs to just be quiet and go buy something.

Posted by: Jennifer on August 27, 2004 04:23 PM

How would she even know if it is hurting the troops morale?

...and yes, she is wrong. Most veterans I know (including me) aren't upset at all about this, because we don't perceive the questions and allegations as "attacks".

Posted by: Nathan on August 27, 2004 04:53 PM

She DID NOT say that. No. Stop putting words in her mouth. SHOVE IT!

Posted by: Joe R. on August 27, 2004 05:46 PM

Uggh, I'm just devestated. I don't know how I can possibly continue with my service while these EvilBusHitler Swift Vets continue with their "attacks" on poor John Forbes Kerry.

[end sarcasm]

Seriously though, if Terezzzzza was really concerned with troop morale, perhaps she should have spoken up when her husband's party bashed the service of National Guardsmen to make Bush look bad?

[

]"I may be wrong," she added. "But I have to believe that no veteran today, including those who don't plan to vote for my husband, feels very good about these attacks."[
]

hmm ... I'll ask me...

Nope, I feel PRETTY GOOD about these "attacks".

Posted by: fretless on August 27, 2004 06:29 PM

Fretless, I don't think the Swiftvets feel all that bad either.

We are not getting enough Teresa Heinz-Kerry coverage. I want that woman talking, talking, talking, all the time.

24/7/365. I just LOVE IT. I love it so much that I can't even stand it.

She should have her own damn cable channel, and just sit there popping happy pills and spouting TRUTH. Like that guy with the religious show at 2 am...what..Dr. Gene Scott? Did I get that right?

To wrap up; I am a fan of Teresa Heinz-Kerry, and I want her always speaking to everyone all of the time.

YOU GO GIRL

Posted by: lauraw on August 27, 2004 09:02 PM

Yeah, like that chick that yelled at John Hurt for being out-of-shape in "1984." Can we set up something like that for the next couple of months?

Posted by: Joe R. on August 27, 2004 09:12 PM

Trying to have it both ways, to have their cake and eat yours too, is a defining condition of the modern "progressive".

Fuck em.

Didn't they promise to rebel sometime in the recent past? Can't you do some rabble-rousing here, get em to make good on their promise? I need the target practice.

If anything the Swift Vets are showing our present troops that if any treasonous bastard tries to do to them what Kerry did to the Vietname Vets they'll get their comeuppance, even if it takes 35 years.

You know, most of us military types KNOW who these people are ...

I remember being spit at and called a "baby butcher" when I came home on leave to see my four month old son for the first time. And I remember why. I remember when war protesters were a fringe group that no one took seriously, and I remember a certian young sailor from Massachusetts who was able to legitimize them almost single-handedly.

The SWIFT BOAT GUYS are the last people on the planet hurting troop moral. In fact, I think I'm going to send them MORE money.
