The Secret Martyrdom of Margaret Cho

And I thought it was enough that Margaret Cho was just unfunny and fat. No, it turns out she's also self-important, ungracious, bitchy and borderline delusional as well.

This is "dated intelligence," as they say, but it turns out that the delightful she-cow lowered herself to perform for a corporate crowd and was, as you're probably guessing, "unconstitutionally censored" after ten minutes of her awful act.

I am not exaggerating much when I say that this narcissist describes this rather pedestrian affair in terms of emotional violation more suited for a woman describing a rape to a therapist.

Perspective-- that's what our comics give us. We have to understand that Ms. Cho's problems -- being paid a big pile of cash and being ferried around by limo in order to perform for people she loathes -- are the real problems facing this country, while unemployment, terrorism, and cancer are mere distractions.

Put aside the niggling problems you have in your own life in order to say a little prayer for Ms. Cho. How this courageous woman soldiers on in the face of so much adversity is beyond me.

I feel much more stupidester just for reeding her wurds.

Because social justice means supporting fascists in Serbia and Iraq and the distraught feelings of ketchup heiresses and Hollywood celebrities.

The mind boggles.

Sorry, that should have been Me feel much more stupidester.

OK, maybe I'm just one of those hopelessly out-of-touch old farts, but MaCho is a lesbian, correct? And she's also married to a man? Did I miss something?

Posted by: zetetic on August 6, 2004 10:39 PM

See, this is why I quit working for big companies and got my own business.

Some friggin idiot actually thought hiring her was a good idea.

I had the pleasure of seeing La Cho in person, where the healthy princess was bursting out of a nipple-pink bubble dress with matching Cinderalla tiara & vintage 2003 light-up Nike lounging shoes. She did a lonnnnnng, hilarious riff on wiping her ass, & the various viscosities encountered. We all laughed & laughed.

zetetic:

I thought the same thing, but thank god there was this to set me straight (no pun intended):

Throughout her career, Ms. Cho has been a staunch supporter of equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT)Americans, has contributed her time and talent to dozens of LGBT fundraising events, and is much loved by our community. We were proud to recently give her a Task Force Leadership Award. Ms. Cho has said, 'I'm more than bi(sexual).' She is, indeed, one of us.

No not sure if the the decision to go "bi(sexual" was market driven or not, or is in any way tied to her weight fluctuations.

Posted by: Paul B. on August 7, 2004 02:31 PM

Fluctuations? Uhhmmm. Hmm.
You must mean that it fluctuates between "Holy Shit!" and "God-DAMN!"

Ms. Cho has said, 'I'm more than bi(sexual).' She is, indeed, one of us.

So she's equal opportunity scary.

The Short Unhappy Life of a Russian Soldier: Why recruits die in 20-30 minutes
Interesting video. Some key parts: drones were responsible for 70-80% of all battlefield deaths in mid-2025, and I bet it's higher now. The Russian army is incredibly corrupt. Men get assigned to the most dangerous frontline units, the "Storm" units, unless they pay a superior $2,000 to be assigned to a different unit. Furthermore, there is often no real training for recruits -- commanders pocket the money that would have gone towards fuel and ammo costs incurred during training. Much "training" consists just of taking a single picture of soldiers doing something soldier-y, like fording a river, and publishing that as proof that the training was done. Even when it is done, training is only two weeks long.

Update to the video of a Russian soldier being spun around and thrown by the machinegun he was operating: The soldier was testing an old, archaic Russian machinegun intended to be mounted to a helicopter. The old gun was pressed into service as a possible anti-drone gun. The Russian army is generally depleted and being forced to bring a lot of old, unreliable weapons and platforms to the front.
Also: Ukranian drones have destroyed damaged [CBD] over 147 Russian warships and shadow fleet oil tankers in the Black Sea over the past ten days.
