Sorry to be so obvious, but this control-of-women thing is pretty f'd up. A lot of the worst psychological pathologies are tied up and mixed up with the sexual drive. The same seems to be true of some of the worst cultural/political pathologies.

The historian Bernard Lewis cites the feeling fundamentalist men have of losing control of their women due to modern ideas as one of the deepest sources of hatred of the West.

FOR a long time now there has been a rising tide of rebellion against this Western paramountcy, and a desire to reassert Muslim values and restore Muslim greatness. The third -- the last straw -- was the challenge to his mastery in his own house, from emancipated women and rebellious children. It was too much to endure, and the outbreak of rage against these alien, infidel, and incomprehensible forces that had subverted his dominance, disrupted his society, and finally violated the sanctuary of his home was inevitable. It was also natural that this rage should be directed primarily against the millennial enemy and should draw its strength from ancient beliefs and loyalties.

I met a guy a few years ago from Afghanistan. He was a converted Muslim to Christianity.

He told me the story of the time he and another kid, (they were like 13 years old at the time), killed two young women for supposedly being prostitutes.

It's amazing how often tales like this come out of Pakistan. A few months back there was a guy that killed his daughter for not bringing him a drink fast enough when he got home, then he murdered her sister for trying to stop him.

Children are to be valued, not squandered over imaginary slights. These "men" aren't men at all.

The article leaves out crucial info.

How were the daughters dressed?

Were they wearing make up?

Obviously, the answers to these questions are very important to determine whether the father was justified.

Jews are only concerned with the Holy Land, militarily-speaking. And the Sanhedrin took great pride in awarding execution very rarely. Jews also believe in Divine Providence, in other words submitting to the will of God. People of every religion do it. It's one way to make sense of life: something happened, it was God's will, let's move on.

Some people say we should not impose our values. I say: impose away! We're enlightening these wayward people, bringing them back into civilized humanity.

So used to American values, I never thought parents could kill their own kids. Evidently, such unconditional love does not exist everywhere.

Honor killers should be honor killed, IMO.

The article by Bernard Lewis is a fifteen year old apology for all the anti-Islamic treatment at the hands of the West. Bull S**t!! There is NO justifiable reason for ANYONE to murder their children, and literal believing of the rantings of a seventh century pedophile will never make it acceptable to rational human beings whatever their beliefs.
Where are the demonstrations of outrage from the Muslim community? As long as barbaric practices such as this are accepted, condoned and embraced by the followers of this "religion", they will be their own source of anti-Islamic sentiment, they don't need any outside help in bringing the wrath and derision of all civilized societies down on themselves.

Correction: I wrote that Labour is losing 88% (now 87%) of the seats it is "defending." I think that's wrong. The right way to say it is the seats they are contesting -- that is, they don't necessarily already hold these seats, but they have put up a candidate to run for the seat. It's still very bad but not as bad as losing 87% of the seats they already held.

STARMERGEDDON: In early returns, Reform gains 135 seats, Labour loses 90, the Fake Conservatives lose 36 (and I didn't even know they could fall any further), the Lib Dems lose 4, and the Greens gain 6. Note that the only other party gaining seats is the Greens and they're only gaining a handful of seats.

I'm sure it's not this simple, but Reform is straight taking Labour's and the "Conservatives'" seats. They've lost almost exactly what Reform gained. If understand this right (and warning, I probably don't), all of London's council seats are up for election, and Labour might lose hugely there, as their old voters abandon them for Reform, Muslim Indenpendents, and the Greens.

People claim that while Labour has adopted the Sharia Agenda to appeal to the million Muslims it allowed to migrate to the country, those voters are ditching Labour to vote for the Muslim Independent Party or the Greens. Delicious. This shadenfreude is going straight to my thighs.
