Could it be I am first on the open thread? I am speechless.

YESSSS!!! Thank you O Exalted Atrios Godling! How I have waited on pins and needles for this!

One open thread an hour just isn't enough for me!!!

Whoo-fuckin'-hooo!

It's just the same around here without a tee shirt girl.

Open threads = psychoanalysis time.

Did you see this article on the economy?

This line jumped off the page:

"The report showed that US economy was very buoyant in the third quarter despite hurricanes thanks to dynamic domestic demand," said Marie-Pierre Ripert, an economist at IXIS Corporate and Investment Bank.

No, but I'd like to see BetOnIraq.com girl's mommy parts. And you forgot 'not' Michael. that I give a shit. I could care less. I'm one to judge.

Something's bugging me and I'm sure a legion of RPG geeks and sex-starved married broads can help me with it.

The Sports Guy wonders how, when Alonzo Mourning can haul down 21 rebounds and block 9 shots less than 5 years off kidney failure and transplant, this is not a huge story.

Well, because Alonzo's a cocksucker, and being a cocksucker and all, he just isn't going to make for much of a feel-good story. Is why, Sports Guy.

I used to love this guy, the way he handled himself. Division 2 patsies would dangle defenders off him like paw-paws and dare Alonzo's brick-handed G'town teammates to drain open jumpers. (They rarely did.) Refs would let Big East monsters mug the guy and he never lost his cool. As an NBA center, he stood up for himself but never was a thug. What a stud, I thought.

Then he gets sick and Jason Kidd blackmails the Nets into taking him on as a charity case. They pay him great coin, he hardly plays, pretends trading Kenyon Martin means the Nets are throwing in the towel and demands a trade. Oh, and guess what? This transplant recipient ends up with Miami, plays real NBA minutes and contends for the freaking title alongside Shaq last year. This year, he's a starter while the Nets have some skinny Latvian in the post. I think the Nets are still paying part of his salary, to add insult to injury.

I really hate that shit. Alonzo's a cocksucker.

(Well, it is an open thread. Go back to your originally scheduled socially inept flaming and game blather.)

Speaking of betting on Iraq...

Does anybody know how to invest in Iraq for real? As in, buying stocks, rather than just purchasing currency?

Posted by: on November 30, 2005 04:32 PM

I'm sorry spongeworthy...did you say something?

;-)

Posted by: Rightwingsparkle on November 30, 2005 04:38 PM

No, but I'd like to see BetOnIraq.com girl's mommy parts.

If other ME girls I've known are any guide, I'd bet on a rack.

The man in question was filming the incident. The guy actually trying to violate the horse was killed in the process, by the horse.

Doesn't Atrios bastardize a poem or something to start his open threads? Or make some "cute" turn to a well-known expression? Sigh, it's just not the same.

Of course, that and the fact that most of the commenters are 1) sane and 2) humorous over here.

The president made an important speech today.
Bush's plan for victory:

"As Iraqi forces gain experience and the political process advances, we will be able to decrease our troop level in Iraq without losing our capability to defeat the terrorists. These decisions about troop levels will be driven by the conditions on the ground in Iraq and the good judgment of our commanders, not by artificial timetables set by politicians in Washington."

Harry Reid's response:

[O]nce again [Bush] missed an opportunity to lay out a real strategy for success in Iraq that will bring our troops safely home."

Harry Reid's plan for victory:

*crickets

From Breitbart.com:
The president's address was accompanied by the release of a 35-page White House document titled "National Strategy for Victory in Iraq."

Bush's resolve:

"We will stay as long as necessary to complete the mission. If our military leaders there tell us we need more troops, I will send them."

"[W]e will never accept anything less than complete victory."

"Some critics continue to assert that we have no plan in Iraq except to, quote, "Stay the course."
If by "Stay the course," they mean, "We will not allow the terrorists to break our will," they're right."
________

Pelosi's strategy for success in response to Bush's speech:

“We should follow the lead of Congressman John Murtha, who has put forth a plan to make America safer, to make our military stronger, and to make Iraq more stable. That is what the American people and our troops deserve.”

(Make our military stronger by implementing an immediate withdrawal? I'm baffled by that statement.)

John Kerry's (former?) plan for victory:

"The way forward in Iraq is not to pull out precipitously or merely promise to stay 'as long as it takes.' To undermine the insurgency, we need to pursue both a political settlement and the withdrawal of American combat forces linked to specific, responsible benchmarks -"

"Let Iraqis stand up for Iraq,"

A Katrina story about a very generous Indian billionaire that has not received enough Big Media Quisling attention because there's no possible anti-Bush angle:

For a little background on the story and a pointed reminder that there are other billionaires who could also help see –

And now that thanks to all that crazy blog money Ace may be approaching billionaire status, perhaps he could adopt, say, a city block is Waveland . Or at any rate get some of the billionaires who read this blog for the high moral tone of its comments to do so.

I just stumbled on WWTDD today. It's run by Brendan Donnelly, who used to write for The Superficial, and was easily the funniest one of the bunch. Go check out his new site, especially where he said it looks like Janet Jackson's new diet consists of "chocolate bacon".

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
