Bart: Does this mean you've already seen Battlestar Galatica?

Posted by: someone on November 22, 2005 10:08 PM

Here are my recently viewed DVDs

Mad Hot Ballroom -Very good

Big Fish - good but pointless and childish (typical Tim Burton)

White Noise- Scary but pointless

Kingdom of Heaven - good but very historically inaccurate

Batman Begins - good for a stupid comic book hero

Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace

Lost in Translation - Almost very good

XXX: State of the Union - Unwatchable

Sin City -- Very good

The Incredibles -- good

Bruce Almighty -- good but could have been great with slight alterations

Swordfish - not worth watching. Halle's boobs ain't worth it

Van Helsing - Van boring

The Brown Bunny - The BJ scene is worth a look. Actually, the film is so bad it is mesmerizing.

The Last Samurai - Very good

National Treasure - Simple but good
Collateral -- very good

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen -- extraordinarily poor.

Baise Moi -- sexy in a naughty obscene way.

October Sky -- very good

The Art of War - Have insomnia? Watch this film.

Hidalgo -- Good. Unoriginal and corny, but it delivers entertainment.

Adaptation -- I want to say good, but I still haven't figured out what the movie was about.

Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason -- I have no idea why I rented this.

Blade: Trinity -- good old fashioned action/adventure.

Someone, are you implying that I'm behind the curve in pop culture?

Yes, of course I have seen Battlestar Galactica, except for the last two episodes of season 2. I'll get to it.

Posted by: Bart on November 22, 2005 10:17 PM

Bart,

I have not seen one of those movies on your list. Isn't that sad? I just cannot sit through a rented movie. I always feel I should be doing something else, and then I go do it.

Posted by: Rightwingsparkle on November 23, 2005 02:08 AM

That is sad, Sparkles. If I were to recommend one DVD from my list, it would be Mad Hot Ballroom.

Posted by: Bart on November 23, 2005 02:57 AM

Bart,

I haven't heard of it. Who is in it?

It's not X rated, is it????

There is one more reason I don't watch movies much at home. I tend to be very vocal. If it is a scary or unexpected scene, I yelp. I say things like, "OMG! Don't go in there!" and "Nooooo!!!" or "Could this woman be any more of an idiot?"

Things like that. Sooo...I get kicked out sometimes too...;-)

Mad Hot Ballroom is a documentary (but not boring at all) about 11 year old NYC kids that are required to take a ballroom dancing class.

Some of the kids like the class and the good ones go on to compete with other school's dance teams.

The kids are very candid and surprisingly sophisticated in their thinking. Surprising to me, I don't have kids, nor am I one who "loves" kids. I think they're pains in the ass.

But anyway, these kids are funny, smart, and cute. Except one, he's an asshole, and he'll be a bigger asshole when he grows up. The entire documentary is interesting and it will give you a bird's eye view of an inner-city-kid's life.

I highly recommend it. And it will make you want to start ballroom dancing.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
