Body of WWII Airman Found Frozen In GlacierThanks again to Christopher. It's Old: Not just the body, but yes, the story is six days old. Who's Steve Rogers? Update: Sigh. Philistines!
See, Captain America was a 1940's era hero. He was acquired by Marvel Comics. They had to explain how a WWII veteran was still in that vaguely thirtyish age category that almost all heroes are in, so they said he got frozen in a block of ice at the end of WWII and only got unfrozen in the sixties, when he was reintroduced as a Marvel character. Of course, they still haven't explained why he hasn't aged a day since 1962, either. Thanks to David for the link to the pic. posted by Ace at 02:43 PM
CommentsI know information moves fast on the Net, but six days isn't that old. I like the quote "He's pretty intact." I'm thinking not really. He's dead. Posted by: Silk on October 26, 2005 02:56 PM
It's ok Ace. We understand. But.... Some people *cough* send you more recent things....*cough*.... :-) Posted by: WunderKraut on October 26, 2005 03:10 PM
Who the hell is Steve Rogers? Posted by: John on October 26, 2005 03:37 PM
"... although lord knows we could have done with some of that kind of luck." Ain't it the truth! http://www.thepixelpalette.com/mt/images/cap_discovered.jpg Posted by: David C on October 26, 2005 03:38 PM
Who the hell is Steve Rogers? Repair yourself immediately to a DC Comics remedial reading program. You should start, in this particular instance, with Captain America. One can only hope that your Marvel reading hasn't suffered as well. Posted by: geoff on October 26, 2005 03:41 PM
Er, actually, Captain America *is* a Marvel hero, but the sentiment is right.... Posted by: David C on October 26, 2005 03:47 PM
Actually, they have explained how Rogers has remained intact - it's a byproduct of the Super Soldier Serum - it slows his aging process. Why buddies like Tony Stark and Clint Barton stayed young right along with him, though, I don't know. Posted by: Gib on October 26, 2005 03:57 PM
Haven't read any Cap books since Reiber et. al. turned Captain America into some leftist cliche-spouting lettuce-head. When Marvel turns Cap back into an ass-kicking hardcase, let me know; until then, I'm a Punisher kinda guy. Posted by: Monty on October 26, 2005 03:57 PM
Er, actually, Captain America *is* a Marvel hero, but the sentiment is right.... Ugh. Curse me for a novice! With my All-Seeing Eye of Agamoto I should have immediately recalled the correct publisher. Or maybe I should have used my mighty Uru Hammer . . . Posted by: geoff on October 26, 2005 04:06 PM
Monty, read the Ultimates. Though Thor's a complete hippie (amusingly so) and there's some awful leftie stuff in the comic (like almost all comics today), Cap is a real bad-ass (without being a tool a la the Punisher) and Nick Fury has been re-imagined in the mold of a certain actor's persona. Posted by: Lapsed Leftist on October 26, 2005 04:07 PM
You might like the current series, written by Ed Brubaker and gorgeously drawn by Steve Epting. It's got Cap kicking terrorist ass, mysterious events that seem to trace back to his WWII days, a surprising twist related to the Red Skull... Good stuff, and plays not unlike, say, *24* at its best. Posted by: David C on October 26, 2005 04:07 PM
Why buddies like Tony Stark and Clint Barton stayed young right along with him, though, I don't know. Tony Stark is a gimme, but Clint Barton... Hawkeye? Posted by: ace on October 26, 2005 04:15 PM
Ace, yes. And what about the Natasha Romanov, the Black Widow? I mean, geeez! She's gotta be pushing 80 or something. Posted by: VRWC Agent on October 26, 2005 04:23 PM
Oh, fuck! That was my ex. No, not the dead guy, one of the rangers. Fall off the damn mountain, why don't you! Posted by: on October 26, 2005 04:30 PM
Not to pitch it again, but The Ultimates addresses the chronological issues...Nick Fury is a Gulf War (instead of an ageless WWII) vet, the Black Widow is a freelance agent after the fall of the Soviet Union, Hawkeye is a complete loser -- oh, wait, that's not a change. And Cap's and Wolverine's backstories get tied together. Some of the Ultimate titles are worth reading (like the Ultimates, which are the Avengers in the Ultimates universe) and others are not (Ultimate Fantastic Four). Posted by: Lapsed Leftist on October 26, 2005 04:35 PM
Read the first Ultimates arc and it was pretty good. I felt mixed about the Hulk storyline, though. Just like the regular Marvel run, that damned super soldier serum gets blamed for a whole lot. I want new flabotins, dammit. Posted by: VRWC Agent on October 26, 2005 05:04 PM
Hey, knock off the Hawkeye bashing! At least he uses real arrows instead of that cartoonish "handcuff" arrow that that hippie Green Arrow uses. "Oh, gollie, Ollie. The bad guy just HAPPENED to have his wrists clutched together right next to the lamp post where you shot your magical handcuff arrow." Losers. Posted by: Shralp on October 26, 2005 05:13 PM
Yeah..Hawkeye was pretty badass in the West Coast Avengers run. Plus, he banged/was married to Mockingbird. That has to count for something. Posted by: Jack M. on October 26, 2005 05:24 PM
He did Natsha, too. Boy gets around. Posted by: VRWC Agent on October 26, 2005 05:57 PM
Whatever. Green Arrow could kick Hawkeye around the block. Proof: In spite of having a name like "Ollie", he was able to hold his own in a regular monthly with Batman. And I'd take Black Canary over Mockingbird or Black Widow any day. Hawkeye? Well, at least you guys know how to pick your fights and aren't trying to defend Falcon. Posted by: Lapsed Leftist on October 26, 2005 06:07 PM
More endless retcons. Whoopee. Can't they have characters get old and retire/hand over the costume? Posted by: someone on October 26, 2005 07:14 PM
But Lobo would crushify all of those panty waists. Oh, and for the aging - it cuz, um, a) he's not real and b) noone wants to see GeriatricMan using his walker to beat up on WellAgedBadGuy. Posted by: TJ on October 26, 2005 08:53 PM

ANOTHER LEFT WING ASSASSIN ATTEMPTS TO KILL TRUMP
If I understand this, the left-wing Democrat assassin attempted to get into the White House Correspondents Association dinner, and was stopped at the magnetometers, which detected his gun. I guess he pulled out the gun and was shot by Secret Service agents. Erika Kirk was present.

Important Message from Recent Convert to Christianity and Yet Super-Serious Christian Tuq'r Qarlson: Actually Muslims love Jesus, it's Trump and his neocons who hate him
Tucker Carlson Network Trump's trolling tweet was ill-advised, but Tucker is just lying when he claims the Christianity-hating President of Iran was "offended" by this. He's one step away from announcing his official conversion to Islam. He literally never stops praising Islam. Well, he suddenly became Christian two years ago, there's not much stopping him from converting again. You can track Tuq'r's official conversion to Islam with this Bingo card.
People say that the bearded man in the video of Fartwell molesting a hooker looks like Democrat Arizona Senator Rueben Gallego, said to be Swalwell's "best friend" and known to take vacations with him.
@KFILE 21m So the campaign is collapsing due to the truth of the sexual harassment allegations. That hissing sound you hear is the air going out of the Swalwell campaign. UPDATE: No it wasn't, it was just Swalwell one-cheek-sneaking out a fart on camera Eric Swalwell more like Eric Farewell amirite thanks to weft-cut loop.
