Hoist The Black Flag, Today at 4:05 Eastern Time

Tomorrow on Hoist the Black Flag (over at Rightalk) we'll have radio host, columnist, and author of The FairTax Book and The Terrible Truth About Liberals Neal Boortz.

We'll be talking about the Fair Tax, Bill Bennet, Tom DeLay, Harriet Miers. All of the fun stuff.

Sadly, we've lostTim Blair, who just couldn't make the show live due to the time difference. Hopefully we'll get him in a taped interview soon enough.

I don't suppose you can bump them all and get some law type.

I don't suppose you can bump them all and get some law type.

I prefer that ace bumps off all the law types.
Tim Blair, oh, I love Tim Blair!

How about an interview with the doc who fried the dude's tool?

Posted by: Tony on October 3, 2005 04:49 PM

How the Aitch did you bag Boortz?

Man, that guy sent me a nasty email response once. Evidently, I'm a religious zealot because I'm pro-life. He didn't respond after I replied and told him I was an atheist. Go figure.

Later,
bbeck

Well, bbeck, Hoist gives you the perfect opportunity to get even. :)

Posted by: on October 3, 2005 04:59 PM

I highly doubt Boortz will be talking about abortion; he doesn't like to and he's got a book to sell. Besides, I can't call in, Ace's show clashes with my housewifey schedule.

I like Neal all right, he's just wrong on occasion. I am glad he grew a brain and decided it was a bad idea to have open borders, a position he once wholly advocated. Maybe Ace can ask him about that.

Later,
bbeck

Posted by: bbeck on October 3, 2005 06:10 PM

I'll ask him if Ace or Karol doesn't, bbeck...

Posted by: JFH on October 3, 2005 07:22 PM

If you guys have other questions for neal, let me know.

Posted by: ace on October 3, 2005 07:40 PM

Ace is clearly avoiding the most important issue now facing our planet: Mr. Burt Bacharach's upcoming anti-Bush album, featuring Dr. Dre.

Evidently, I'm a religious zealot because I'm pro-life.

bbeck, no shit, two years ago Andy Sullivan called me a theocrat and religious zealot because I questioned his conservatism. (And I expressed my view on man-on-man love.)

Excitable Andy took exception to me asking if he had ever, once, voted for a Republican. Go figure.

Burt Bacharach does not back Iraq invasion?

I wish one of you youngsters would tell me what Ace uses for his Theme Music.
Seriously.
I would buy it if I knew what it was.

bbeck, no shit, two years ago Andy Sullivan called me a theocrat and religious zealot because I questioned his conservatism.

I think Boortz responded to me because I'd insulted Royal, who compares an unborn child to a caterpillar before it becomes a butterfly; "Is a caterpillar a butterfly?" is something Royal used to say all the time. Ho-ly cow, that is SO brain-dead. Since when did human reproduction involve metamorphosis? The comparison between life cycles is effing ludicrous and I told him so. So much for having Clue One about life science.

Another gaffe of his involves drug legalization. He's compared taking drugs to wearing a blindfold in your house, which is stupid. Here's his logic; it's not against the law to wear a blindfold in your house...but you wouldn't want to drive a car wearing one. So, why should using drugs in your house be illegal just because you shouldn't be driving a car while high? Uh, the hole in his logic is that a blindfold doesn't make you THINK you're okay to drive.

For a smart guy he really says some dumb things. Honestly, these examples are years old because I didn't get Boortz in Guam and I just recently found him on the dial here. It beats watching daytime TV, but what doesn't? He does fine when he's not on social issues, and then you can tell he used to take drugs because his arguments are sieve-like.

FWIW, vegemite sandwiches absolutely suck.

Why yes they do. Vegemite tastes like that nasty brown baby vitamin liquid.

Later,
bbeck

Ace's theme song:

Written by no other than lyrical genius (and all-around ugly S.O.B.) Lemme Killmeister and band MotorHead. Mind you, he's no Nipsy Russell...

The Ace Of Spades

If you've never heard the song, you can listen here for free.

Posted by: TheShadow on October 3, 2005 11:42 PM

Ah, you meant the theme song for the radio show...please ignore my previous post

Posted by: TheShadow on October 3, 2005 11:44 PM

You think 14 hours is tough to manage?

It will be tomorrow over there where Tim is!

That's right - deal with that.

Posted by: Dave in Texas on October 4, 2005 08:46 AM

Ace, when you talk to Tim next time, tell him you can only run the taped interview if he agrees to say "Look at that bahyootiful animal" before responding to any question.

Posted by: Megan on October 4, 2005 02:14 PM

Crikey, Megan! Have a look at this one! She's a bahyootiful Sheila if I ever saw one. I've been trainin' me whole life to call in to a show like Ace's. Just remember, klonopin and val-u-rite vodka affects reptiles differently then people. So never give them to Ace before air time, or you might have a bleedin' mess on your hands. Right mate?

Not a whole bunch of people on AIM.

Contact "Cancer Marney" for invite, or just toddle on over to "htbf"

Posted by: Megan on October 4, 2005 03:57 PM

So you're a fan of "Prison Break," huh? To my own shame, so am I. But "best show on TV?" Especially when it comes an hour after the *true* best show?

It is nice to see that walrus-looking, poor-man's-wilford-brimley guy as the warden, though. Has that guy ever played anything other than a cop, soldier or other authoritarian figure?

Posted by: Knemon on October 4, 2005 05:03 PM

The truth about liberals they support abortion and euthinasia and they want crinimal who commit horrible crimes like RAPE,MURDER and CHILD MOLESTERS should get a lenient sentence

Posted by: spurwing plover on October 4, 2005 09:45 PM

I finally was able to catch the show today.

Ya'll did a good job. The tax stuff is interesting, but the only word I want to hear in regard to taxes is "lower."

Anyway, great job!

Posted by: rightwingsparkle on October 4, 2005 11:28 PM

Boortz was terrible. Never have him on again.

Few people remember that Norm MacDonald began his career as a ventriloquist
MacDonald's old partner Adam Egot revealed that MacDonald repurposed a bit with one of his ventriloquist dolls -- that he was a "bad guy" who "didn't believe the Holocaust happened" -- for the Norm MacDonald show, in which he claimed Egot didn't believe in the Holocaust.
Funniest thing I've read about the Virginia mess. Back when they were hustling the referendum through the assembly both Senators, Warner and Kaine, advised them to go slow and play by the rules. Louise Lucas said she respected them but didn't need advice from the "cuck chair" in the corner. The gerrymandering was overturned and Louise is heading for the big house. Edward G. -- reportedly a genuine comment offered by a "senior Labour source"
Correction: I wrote that Labour is losing 88% (now 87%) of the seats it is "defending." I think that's wrong. The right way to say it is the seats they are contesting -- that is, they don't necessarily already hold these seats, but they have put up a candidate to run for the seat. It's still very bad but not as bad as losing 87% of the seats they already held.

🚨ED MILIBAND [a Minister in Starmer's government] SAYS KEIR STARMER WILL RESIGN AS PRIME MINISTER

He has reportedly reassured Labour MP's that Starmer will be resigning following the disastrous results tonight

It's over
"The end of the two party system in the UK" as first the Fake Conservatives and now Labour chooses political suicide rather than simply STOPPING THE INVASION
Incidentally, the only reason this didn't already happen in the US is because of the Very Bad Orange Man (who is right on 85% of all policy calls and extremely, existentially right on 15% of them)
No political party that is NOT also a doomsday religious cult would EVER choose a cataclysmic loss -- and possible extinction as a party -- to support a toxically unpopular favoritism of NON-CITIZEN ILLEGAL MIGRANTS over actual citizen voters.

Only a cult does this.
Now they've lost 84%.
Annunziata Rees-Mogg
@zatzi
If this continues Labour loses 2,148 seats tonight.

That is much worse than the worst case predictions I’ve seen.

Cataclysmic

Update: They've now lost 88% of the seats they're defending. As I mentioned earlier, I think I heard that London will not bail them out, as many of those Labour seats will probably flip to "Muslim Independent" or Green. Detroit's 5am vote will not save them.
Yup, Labour is losing 80% of its seats...
The British Patriot
@TheBritLad

🚨 BREAKING: Labour have lost 80% of all seats contested as of 2:25 AM.<
br> If this continues, Keir Starmer will be out of office next week.

Reform has surged and projected to pick up between 1700-2100 seats.

Wow, up to 1700-2100 seats. It's not incredible that this is happening. It's incredible that the Davos crowd is so absolutely determined to privilege Muslim "migrants" over the actual native population who elects them, no matter how loudly the natives scream that they want to be prioritized, that they will gladly self-extinguish as a party rather than simply representing the interests of their own voters. Astonishing.
Remember, when they call other people "cultists" -- they are the ones so imprisoned in their social reinforcement and discipline bubbles that they will choose political death rather than dare upset the Karen Enforcement Officers of their cult.
Update: Now they've lost 83% of the seats they were defending.
(((Dan Hodges)))
@DPJHodges

Reform are basically wiping Labour out in the North. It's not a defeat. It's not even a rout. Labour are simply ceasing to exist.

Nick Lowles
@lowles_nick

Tonight’s results are calamitous for Labour. Not just for Keir Starmer's leadership, but for the very future of the party
STARMERGEDDON: In early returns, Reform gains 135 seats, Labour loses 90, the Fake Conservatives lose 36 (and I didn't even know they could fall any further), the Lib Dems lose 4, and the Greens gain 6. Note that the only other party gaining seats is the Greens and they're only gaining a handful of seats.
Update: Reform now up 145, Labour down 98.
Labour projected to lose Wales -- where they've ruled for 27 years.
Fulton County Georgia just discovered 400 boxes of ballots for Labour
Update: REF +156, LAB -107, CON -45
Brutal: In four out of five council seats where Labour is defending, they've lost. 80%.
I'm sure it's not this simple, but Reform is straight taking Labour's and the "Conservatives'" seats. They've lost almost exactly what Reform gained. If understand this right (and warning, I probably don't), all of London's council seats are up for election, and Labour might lose hugely there, as their old voters abandon them for Reform, Muslim Indenpendents, and the Greens.
REF +190, LAB -134, CON -56.
Updates on the Labour collapse in council elections -- which wags are calling #Starmergeddon -- from Beege Welborne. There are about 5000 seats up for grabs, Labour is expected to lose 1,800, Reform will probably gain 1,580, up from... zero. So this would be more than that.
People claim that while Labour has adopted the Sharia Agenda to appeal to the million Muslims it allowed to migrate to the country, those voters are ditching Labour to vote for the Muslim Independent Party or the Greens. Delicious. This shadenfreude is going straight to my thighs.
Oh, and if Starmer loses about as badly as expected, Labour will toss him out of a window Braveheart style and replace him. He will announce he is resigning to spend more time with his Gay Ukrainian Male Prostitutes.
Media bias and senationalism are as old as, well, the media:
spidermanthreatormenace.jpg

That was written by Denny O'Neill and illustrated by, get this, Frank Miller. Editor to the Stars Jim Shooter was in charge at the time.
I always thought the gag was original to the comic book, but in fact the "Threat or Menace" headline was a satirical joke about media bias and sensationalism for a long while. The Harvard Lampoon used it in a parody of Life magazine: "Flying Saucers: Threat or Menace?"
