Senators From the Republican Wing of the Republican Party

Not everyone's willing to spend like the dickens.

Have to give the man his props-- John McCain is making all sorts of welcome fiscal-responsibility noises. As is Lindsey Graham and, of course, Tom Coburn.

Want to be our next President? Jeff Larkin has some advice for McCain or Giuliani. McCain can repair his reputation with conservatives, and Giuliani can go a long way towards mitigating his social liberalism, if either man would forcefully declare themselves to be the champion of fiscal responsibility and porkbusting.

The brass ring is there, guys. One of you really should grab up on it.

Hopefully Rudy. Because, you know, John McCain is really a dick.

Sprinkle a little immigration common sense in there and presto... insta-GOP candidate!!! Trouble is McCain steps on his dick in that regard.

The projected cost of the President's New Orleans rebuilding plan: $200 billion.

The total cost of the Space Shuttle program since its inception: $145 billion.

McCain may be a dick, but Rudy is an asshole.

Current population of Louisiana: 4,496,334 (2004 estimate)

Per capita division of rebuilding plan: ca. $44,500.00.

Here's a nice little quote--

"The money we're talking about in Washington is not the government's money. (Applause.) It's your money. The best way to get this economy growing is to let you have more of your own money so you can spend on a good or a service. And when you do, it's going to make it more likely somebody is going to find work."

Excuse me if I'm getting a little cynical about W's core convictions.

Dude, you're falling into the anti-pork trap, obsessing about the trees when there's a forest.

First off, the real money has always been in entitlements. You know it, I know it, the American people know it.

Second, anti-pork will never sell as long as members can sell the items to their individual constituents-- which is easy, since *they're doing it* for those individual constituents. It's just grandstanding whack-a-mole.

The only way to fight and win this argument once and for all is to win with Reagan tactics, not McCain tactics-- convince the people about the proper role of government, the true nature of federalism, and what responsibilities should be Washington's versus what should be at the states and localities.

None of this bug hunt shit, Ace. Nuke the site from orbit-- it's the only way to be sure.

Cheers,
Dave at Garfield Ridge

Yeah, but does the Space Shuttle have a Storyville Lounge? Gambling?

Posted by: BrewFan on September 29, 2005 03:02 PM

Larkin thinks Owen is a non-tabula rasa originalist? What's he smoking?

Posted by: someone on September 29, 2005 03:02 PM

Yeah, but does the Space Shuttle have a Storyville Lounge? Gambling?

BrewFan, the Space Shuttle would have had gambling if it had been designed by this guy. Also, hookers.

Posted by: utron on September 29, 2005 03:14 PM

Tom Coburn is my man. In a non-sexual way, of course.

Posted by: adolfo velasquez on September 29, 2005 03:22 PM

It's time to get on the Joe Lieberman bandwagon for 2008.

Tough on terror, and a GOP congress would say no to every bit of spending he wanted. Win-win, if you ask me.

Republicans in Congress, and a tough Democrat in the White House. A GOP Congress clearly won't say no to a Republican President.

As a die-hard conservative, it's clear that Republicans cannot be in charge of both the executive and legislative branch of government.

If McCain is a Dick, and Rudi is an asshole, if you put them together would you get a Sullivan endorsement?

hahahaha

On behalf of dicks everywhere, I protest.

Dammit; someone has top billing on the McCain/Feingold bill to remove political speech from the 1st Amendment (or whatever you choose to call it) and we're still putting him forward?

For those who've heard me I must sound like a broken record, but jeez has everyone forgotten the asswiping that McCain gave the first freaking amendment? What kind of conservatives are we looking for? Thise that play by the rules, or those that simply rewrite the rules on the other f***ing side?

At this point McCain kinda has to undo some of the damage he's done; or he's toast in the primaries. With ammunition like this I can't see him getting past the Conservatives to make a general election.

Or maybe I'm just a freak because I expect people who make rules to understand and follow them rather than just do what the hell they want. And if we support someone who deliverately violated one of the clearest rules, why are we worried about spending, the scope of the Federal Govt., or anything else.

"McCain may be a dick, but Rudy is an asshole."

Team America has a point there.

One can do wonderful things and the other is just full of crap.

Rightwingsparkle, I'm shocked.

Shocked, I say.

Posted by: adolfo velasquez on September 29, 2005 09:59 PM

McCain's latest "anti government waste" spiel is NOT sincere. It is pure politics--pure horseshit served up on a platter and designed to fool conservatives into believing it is the red meat we so crave.

It's only AFTER the election we'd get a chance to taste it and find out what it really is!

But McCain has a long history of serving up horseshit, so he's not fooling THIS conservative.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
