Yahoo! is like any other capitalist company - it is in business for a profit. If the ChiComs won't let them do business in China without their willing cooperation, then they lose a whole big market to any other supplier willing to sell their corporate soul.

That said, Yahoo! was wrong - dead wrong - to make such nice with the Chicoms at the cost of at least one man's efforts and part of his life. What we don't know is, how many more have they sold out?

The only effective way to protest Yahoo! is to quit using them. No buyers for their advertisers = no advertisers = no business. Then they'll get the message. Not a minute before.

I haven't used Yahoo in over a year for anything other than a GeoCities site (which doesn't exist anymore)

How do they stay in business?
