Mayor Nagin: "CIA Might Take Me Out"

Ah. I see. Not satisfied with merely being incompetent. Need to pad the old resume out with "paranoid lunatic," too.

F'n' grandstander.

Last night he told a reporter for the Associated Press: "If the CIA slips me something and next week you don't see me, you'll all know what happened."

Today he told interviewers for CNN on a live broadcast he feared the "CIA might take me out."

Nagin resorted to vulgarity and profanity yesterday in his pleas for help.

Mayor Ray Nagin

Apart from the crack and hookers, was Marion Barry really all that bad?

PS: If I should happen to "unexpectedly" stop blogging, y'll know who got to me.

I think it's Nagin who needs a vacation.

Huh. You suspect *him*?

That should make my job sooo much easier. . .

Cheers,
Dave at Garfield Ridge

Posted by: Dave at Garfield Ridge on September 6, 2005 12:06 AM

No way. CIA doesn't touch this kind of domestic stuff.

However, if some Dept. of Ag or Education field agents suddenly go TDY to Louisiana...

Posted by: bitterman on September 6, 2005 12:08 AM

Unfuckingbelievable. Am I tripping on these three-day-old, moldy Tostitos Bite-Sized Corn Rounds, or did the Mayor of New Orleans just muse aloud that the CIA was going to assassinate him?

?!?!?!

Remember, folks: this guy WAS a Republican once. In fact, he really still is in all but name (he's as much a Democrat as Mike Bloomberg is a Republican). I don't know why I feel compelled to point that out, but I suppose I expect more sanity from the guys in our party. Why can't people behave more like Haley Barbour?

Posted by: Jeff B. on September 6, 2005 12:18 AM

OK, wtf? That guy has just lost his f'n mind.

And Jeff B. - people don't behave like Haley Barbour because they don't want to cause hurricanes, silly!

Posted by: Beth on September 6, 2005 12:25 AM

Ace -check your mail.

Look for something from cirby.

Posted by: cirby on September 6, 2005 12:32 AM

What, you didn't see that about the CIA the first time? That was in his rant last Thursday night. NO, I'm not saying it's old...

Whose picture is that?

Later,
bbeck

Posted by: bbeck on September 6, 2005 12:33 AM

Don't be silly.

Why would Greg Kinnear want to kill you?

Posted by: Slublog on September 6, 2005 12:35 AM

Is this for real? He says to CNN on Sat. night, repeatedly that he's worried that the CIA will kill him now, and this goes nowhere?

How does 'New Orleans Mayor: Raving loon!" not lead every news broadcast, top o the fold everywhere? Where's Drudge on this?

Posted by: Ned Pepper on September 6, 2005 12:39 AM

Whoops, correction: he DIDN'T say that in this original rant, I was getting the interviews mixed up, and now he's said it twice.

bbeck

Posted by: bbeck on September 6, 2005 12:52 AM

I think we should cut the guy some slack.

Who knows, maybe he's just blurting out something his dog's been babbling about, over and over...

(Note to self: Need to walk a mile, etc. before getting too self-righteous.)

Posted by: Dogstar on September 6, 2005 01:08 AM

bbeck, that picture is Mr. Joshua Micah Mellencamp Watoosie Skolinkenlot Hoopy-Boopy Marshall.

Posted by: Sobek on September 6, 2005 02:04 AM

I used to think Nagin was a cool guy, and so when the stories started coming out about him losing it, I kept thinking, 'cut the guy some slack, he's got limited resources, a sucky police department, and his city just got flooded.' But it's getting harder and harder for me.

Posted by: Sobek on September 6, 2005 02:10 AM

Nagin got it all wrong: the white devils want him alive for the kangaroo court trial before we throw the rope over a branch and hang his incompetent ass.

Posted by: TC@LeatherPenguin on September 6, 2005 02:22 AM

Throwing up now.

Posted by: Insider on September 6, 2005 02:38 AM

I saw this twice last night. I couldn't believe it. He is going to wish the CIA had killed him when all is said and done.

I believe what he said in the interview went something like this:

"I have been screaming at the Governor, I have been screaming at the President. The CIA is probably gonna take me out, but I am staying here until everyone is out of the city".

I believe he was in Baton Rouge when he gave this interview.

I can't believe this guy got elected. Oh wait, it is Lousiana....never mind.

Oh, one last thing...on Nightline tonight he was talking about being PISSED because he told all the crack addicts to go over the bridge into Jefferson Parish but the sheriff wouldn't let them in. Mayor Moron is PISSED! HE'S PISSED!

Posted by: tinkerbelle on September 6, 2005 02:43 AM

Nagin was obviously holding onto Ricky Williams' stash until he finally hangs up the NFL thing for good (i.e. works off enough of the $8M he owes Wayne that he can quit again).

Equally obvious now is that HST blew his brains out because he was depressed he wasn't allowed to "co-administer" Ricky's high quality stash with Nagin. After all - "administering" such a world famous stash is quite an honor and the good doctor just couldn't handle being dissed in such a harsh manner.

Posted by: Tony on September 6, 2005 02:53 AM

Keep up the cracks about... okay, no, we just had a conversation. [grouchy look] And we came to an understanding. So I'm not shooting off my mouth. See Ace? That's respect standing right there in front of your face.

Posted by: Megan on September 6, 2005 04:24 AM

Respect? Respect?

The Ace-O-Spades LifeStyle subscribes to the ProSports definition of "respect".

If anyone wants "respect" they're gonna have to SHOW US THE MONEY ;->

Posted by: Tony on September 6, 2005 04:56 AM

Maybe the good mayor is thinking about a different CIA. The CIA that I was thinking of (the official government CIA) would be the LAST organization to do something about someone dissing Bush.

Whatever you do, don't attempt to use the facts in arguing Katrina with moonbats. They're more up in arms about this than they are about the elections. Best to stay far away.

That's a lot to yell out during sex.

Tell me about it.

Posted by: Sully on September 6, 2005 09:01 AM

Cindy Sheehan is in full look at me mode:

Innocent people are dying daily in this world. In the crush of the hurricane story, the fact that 950 people (mostly women and children) were trampled to death in Iraq was buried in the back sections. Those are 950 people who would still be alive if George Bush were not president. 950 people in Iraq and how many thousands in the Gulf States died while the emperor strummed a guitar and knocked a golf ball around? Additonally, eight of our brave and wonderful soldiers have been needlessly killed in Iraq since Monday.
There's also the usual liberal stuff in there about 'selected not elected' and his partying past.

The entire column just reeks of desperation - this is a woman who had gotten used to the fame and adulation of the media and the Bush-hating left, but they abandoned her the second they saw an opportunity with Katrina.

Posted by: Slublog on September 6, 2005 09:20 AM

This is interesting. Sounds like Mayor Nagin is trying to put the blame on the Governor.

Posted by: Slublog on September 6, 2005 09:28 AM

Why would the Culinary Institute of America want to off Nagin?

Sorry. I figured since I wasn't getting any work done, I'm going to try my hardest to make sure no one else does, either.

Stupid macromedia programs...

Posted by: Slublog on September 6, 2005 10:43 AM

LOL@Slu. I'm getting work done anyway.

I thought that Mother Cindy was going to NO to help out? What, is already done? Were the cameras all occupied? Did she discover she couldn't walk on water?

Posted by: bbeck on September 6, 2005 11:09 AM

St. Cindy has feet of clay?

Perish the thought!

I'm picking away at little tasks - finishing a newsletter, starting to plan our annual campaign, etc. But I have to design a poster - no inspiration coming to me.

The only direction I got from the board? Make it "eye catching."

That was disappointing, becuase I really wanted to design something so awful that people would recoil in horror at the sight and start crossing themselves. Either that, or something so bland it would be almost invisible to the human eye when placed on a bulletin board.

"Eye catching"

Sheesh.

Posted by: Dave in Texas on September 6, 2005 11:20 AM

Ray did a pretty good job of ending his political career all by himself. The CIA doesn't need to spend any time on him.

Posted by: Vulture 6 on September 6, 2005 01:18 PM

Bush is a fucking moron.

Posted by: Bob in Texas on September 6, 2005 02:24 PM

Piercing political insight, Bob. Did you come up with that yourself, or are you cribbing from Michael Moore?

Posted by: Slublog on September 6, 2005 02:29 PM

Who's Cindy Sheehan?

Slublog, re: eye-catching poster design idea. Put a picture of a nekkid woman on it. Or nearly nekkid if full nudity is a problem. Always works in Vegas.

And don't forget the dashikis, which as we all know means "doggy style" in swahili.

I DON'T THINK RAY NAGIN'S POLITICAL CAREER IS ENDED AT ALL. UNLIKE YOU WISHFUL THINKERS. HERE'S A POLITIAN THAT SPEAKS HIS MIND, LAYS IT OUT FRONT, ACCEPTS FAULT BUT ALSO LETS THE HIGHER UPS (BUSH , DOHS AND THE GOVERNOR) KNOW THEY F*** UP ALSO. THE CIA PROBABLE WOULD WANT TO SHUT HIS "DOGGONE FREAKIN ASS" UP. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK RAY.

LOL. As long as there's people as stupid as Maria, politicians that kill their constituents with their incompetence will always be in office. Too bad the dead ones still get to vote in Democrat cities.

Posted by: digitalbrownshirt on September 8, 2005 06:52 PM

Hey, Maria.

Name one time Mayor Nagin has accepted fault.

Posted by: Slublog on September 8, 2005 07:13 PM

Well, as Maria has so ably demonstrated, there's nothing particularly virtuous about speaking your mind if you are an idiot.

Posted by: Dave in Texas on September 8, 2005 07:18 PM

U stupid Americans. Of course the CIA would take out Nagin if they thought he was going to tall about thow the levee was sabotaged, then aid delayed in order to ruin New Orleans so they can build casinos on the land. It was set up by your government who you all follow blindly. They're laughing at you. Losers
