Bush Nominates Roberts For Chief Justice

Might as well.

Meanwhile, Jayson at Polipundit runs down the possible replacements for Rehnquist.

Seems like we just ran down this list... but a refresher can't hurt.

I think it's time for Owens.

After all, Democrats demanded an ideological clone for O'Connor's replacement; surely they similarly demand a Rehnquist-like nominee now.

Thanks for the link Ace. My opinion on this is that it was a very bold, and wise move. Robert's, as much as the left want to attack him, has a clean record. Nothing is sticking, and they were about to cave in on his nomination soon anyway. This will keep from having three fights...down to two. It amazes me how they alway underestimate Bush's political skills.

Janice Rogers Brown. Please Bush!!!!

Nominate Janice Rogers Brown.

Ah. I read some of Janice Rogers Brown's prior statements when she was up before committee. She's my current favorite judge. But she's waaaaaaaay to the libertarian right. Bush would have to have Giant Clanky Ones of Steel to try it.

I propose a simple five-step process:

1) Nominate Ann Coulter
2) Sit back and watch the left go bat shit crazy for six weeks.
3) When they're exhausted, find some reason to withdraw the nomination
4) Let the moonbats declare victory
5) After the deranged left victory striptease and poo flinging oarty winds down, nominate Janice Rogers Brown. She'll appear moderate by comparison and the howling monkeys will be too tired to put up anything more than token resistance.

Ace, you just don't understand the ways of the activist mind. You see, Bush has nominated the ultra-conservative Roberts to replace Rehnquist (thus showing that he wants to move the court EVEN FURTHER TO THE RIGHT!), so it's just the minimally fair thing to do - not fair, really, but less of an OUTRAGE - to now appoint a centrist for O'Connor's seat. A moderate, someone with mainstream middle-America views. Someone like Ginsburg, for example.

Oh, that is so cold.

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
