Kanye West: "George Bush Doesn't Care About Black People"

A video clip that's sad, infuriating, and funny at the same time, from the disaster relief telethon.

Kanye West (a rapper, I'm told) regurgitates all the goofy shit he's been reading on left-wing blogs and hearing on conspriacy-mongering black radio while Mike Myers attempts to just read the teleprompter. Myers' reaction, or non-reaction, really, is pretty funny.

The really sad thing is that it's evident that this country's politics are deathly sick from paranoiac poison and I'm not sure it will ever be better. I think blogs have something to do with this, sadly.

Life Imitates Saturday Night Live Update: Anyone remember that hilarious sketch where Mike Myers and Heather Locklear were pitchmen for a pasta-maker being sold on an infomercial, and Heather Locklear kept making the vilest (read, "funniest") racial slurs in attempting to hype the past-maker?

And Mike Myers kept wincing every time she'd say something like "You'd have to be drunker than an Indian to pass up this offer" or "It's so inexpensive that even a Puerto Rican can afford it"?

That was strangely similar to the Meyers/West pitch.

The transcript of that sketch is here, but I really wish I could find video of it. Both Myers and especially Heather Locklear were hilarious.

Locklear really sold that racism, with these big smiles and crazy-eyes.

A bit of the sketch:

Richard Hayden [Myers]: ... I'm going to demonstrate my pasta-maker for you and your audience. Do you think your audience would like that?

[ the audience claps ]

Janet Miles [Heather Locklear]: This I have to see! Now, this is a complicated process. Right, Richard?

Richard Hayden: No. My pasta-maker is easy to operate, because the directions are easy to follow.

Janet Miles: Well, we've heard that before: you buy an appliance with easy-to-follow directions, and you get it home, and you need a Ph.D to figure it out. Usually, this "easy direction" stuff is a big lie.. like the Holocaust! [ the phones ring wild, and the bulbs light up on the map ] Now, are your directions really easy to follow? Or is it just another Holocaust-type scam?

Richard Hayden: [ dumbfounded by Janet's statements ] Uh.. they're, uh.. they're, uh.. easy to follow.. they, uh.. involve, uh.. three easy steps..

Janet Miles: Well, does the audience want to see these three easy steps to good-tasting pasta?

[ the audience relunctantly claps ]

Richard Hayden: O..kay.. Well, you just pour in the flour.. [ pours in the flour ] ..the egg and water mix.. [ pours in the egg and water ] ..and that's it. Hit the button, and look. Here comes the pasta [ pasta starts coming out of the machine ].

Janet Miles: [ excited ] So incredible! And so fast! Well, let's take some phone calls! I'm sure people want to find out more about this amazing machine! Caller, you're on "Timesavers"!

Caller #1: [ shaken ] Are you insane?! Did you just say that the Holocaust was a lie?!

Janet Miles: Listen.. there is no way of ever knowing if the Holocaust actually happened. But we do know this is an amazing pasta-maker. Next caller. You're on "Timesaver"!

What About Robert Byrd? Update: The Therapist has an exclusive about Byrd's conflicted emotions about aiding black folks.

Except this blog, of course.

This blog is about the love

Posted by: Slublog on September 3, 2005 11:31 AM

Remember, West was featured on the cover of Time magazine a few weeks ago as "The Smartest Man in Pop Music." He thinks that white authorities invented crack cocaine to break up the Black Panthers and the AIDS virus to murder even more black people.

What a genius.

You are probably correct here. Unfortunately it is in much the same way that anti-biotics have 'something to do' with illness.

This 'poison' has been infesting the system for DECADES. It has been carried ,enouraged, and amplified by the MSM and the prevailing elites in the 'centres of power' but before blogs it was always just there . Now with the advent of uncontrolled information distribution networks, it can be more freely disseminated as you point out.

BUT it can also now be exposed for the insanity it truly is. Without blogs we would all be at the mercy of the MSM,and its bootlicking approach to such asinine comments as made yesterday by the Black Caucus in Washington. To the 'enemy', West's comments are 'inappropriate' because they might engender a bad reaction; they are not ' unacceptable' because they are just cluelessly wrong.

Blogs are the antidote; they are not the cause.

Well, extending the disease analogy, this sort of sickness was generally controlled by the fact that the sickest were effectively quarantined, being shut-ins with no way of transmitting their illness.

INTERNET has provided a information super-highway for the quick transmission of diseased thinking. Infection rates have skyrocketed.

How smart do you have to be to figure out to keep your mouth shut? 50% os the people you're appealing to voted for the person you hate. Are you so stupid and blind with hate you can't hold the bile down to help the people in need?

He should have been the one shot, not Suge. Okay, maybe both of them.

Please. Blacks have been saying things like that about white conservatives since forever. As young as I am, I'm still old enough to remember people accusing Reagan of hating blacks. Left-wing blogs and talk radio have very little to do with it.

Posted by: Allah on September 3, 2005 11:45 AM

Maybe we need to just split this country down the middle. Give the loons their half, we'll take ours and see once and for all whose way really works.

From all the seething hatred I've witnessed over the last few days, I'm wondering if we don't end up having another civil war. This isn't the same country I knew when I was a boy. This isn't even the same country it was on 9/11. I don't know what's happened, but it makes me angry and sad.

Maybe my wife figured it out. She took one look at the contorted faces of those on the television spewing blame and pointing fingers in all directions and said, "Those people have lost God."

I can't watch anymore. The from the race-baiters to the roaming thugs to the egomanical reporters to the political exploiters on the web, I'm loosing my faith in this country.

The sickness isn't new. The outbreak into the general population is.

The sickness isn't new. The outbreak into the general population is.

Farrakhan has spewing the most insane nonsense for decades now, and he's a thoroughly mainstream figure among blacks. And remember the old canard about crack having supposedly been developed by the CIA in order to ravage black neighborhoods? That's been circulating since the mid-80s.

I don't know what you mean by "general population." If you mean "general population of blacks," I think Kanye West's remarks are pretty moderate and middle of the road.

Posted by: Allah on September 3, 2005 12:01 PM

It's been a tough, tough few years for this country, but we can't just lose faith. The stakes are two high. We can't allow things to be like they were in the '60s and '70s when we were at each other's throats or resigned to the fact that America was in decline. I agree that the left is poisoning the public discourse, but we can't let them control it.

"Those people have lost God."---Warden

"The sickness isn't new. The outbreak into the general population is."--Ace

Perhaps these two statements really belong together. I am NOT religious. Not at all really. Not even particularly 'spiritual', but when NOTHING is what is left to believe in, NOTHING is what will eventually develope. The culture itself is perhaps creating its own pathologies.

Perhaps the reason the 'sickness' is becoming virulent is because the infectees are void where it counts and the 'sickness' is merely filling a vacumn. Things ARE getting worse, and something must give sooner or later. There is now no room for any real compromise.

You can't blame that on blogs.

Posted by: dougf on September 3, 2005 12:03 PM

"Those people have lost God."

Those people have lost their minds.

"The sickness isn't new. The outbreak into the general population is."

Erm, no it's not. If you think that you've been living in a dreamworld. Back in my Goth Democrat days my friends and I were saying the same loony things. We thought we were cool and daring, but we were actually insane. And I didn't own a personal computer in the '80s.

BTW, here's what I wrote to someone in an email about what the look on Mike Myers' face expressed as Kanye blurted out his freak-speech: "That sound you heard is the sound of thousands of Americans closing their checkbooks and putting them away, you asshole."

Posted by: Andrea Harris on September 3, 2005 12:04 PM

It's a longstanding theory of mine that a significant fraction of the population has a strong drive to explore the spiritual and transcendant. Religion used to serve as the vehicle for satisfying this urge.

But many have given up on God, and yet the urge for transcendence remains.

And now this void is filled by political philosophy.

The way many on the left rant and seethe and condemn nonbelievers to a secular sort of hell is almost indistinguishable from preachers in revival tents.

I think you can have a sort of religion without God -- many New Agey systems of "spiritualism" don't have a true God at their center, just an amorphous oversoul or similar fudge -- but you can't have a religion without a Devil.

And the Left is very big on talking about Satan these days. But they don't say "Satan;" they say Bush, Rove, Wolfowitz, etc. All of the Infernal Choir, with their serial numbers filed off and given new names.

Well said. But frankly you can't have a 'religion' without 'values, either. You can have a club or a group, or an association, but you really can't have a 'religion'. To me and I stand to be corrected, the 'values' front seems to have taken a BIG hit in the past 3 -4 decades. Without 'standards' there can eventually be no 'standards'. Thats' a really really BAD thing.

Posted by: dougf on September 3, 2005 12:15 PM

Ace,

You really should give America's Army a try. It's free and you get to play against other humans. It's cool to beat a computer. It's really cool to outhink and outplay other people. There are even a bunch of Euros playing the game so every so often you get to beat some Frenchmen.

Posted by: Silk on September 3, 2005 12:16 PM

I saw the same thing on Mike Myers face as did Andrea. He stopped nodding agreement when he began spouting crap.

Posted by: Silk on September 3, 2005 12:18 PM

So what has Karl Rove been up to lately? Kanye West makes this completely ridiculous statement, and the Red Cross and NBC fall all over themselves to get some distance, saying this isn't a political issue and West's opinions in no way represent the feelings of NBC. They end up in the position of essentially supporting GW so they don't look as retarded as KW.

To paraphrase Starsky and Hutch: "Rove, these guys screwed up; they can't even touch us now!"

"I think you can have a sort of religion without God "

Yes you can. Its called the theory of evolution.

Kayne west a real exploiter i mean you thought jessie jackasson took advantage of these events

Posted by: night heron on September 4, 2005 05:07 PM

Kanye is everywhere these days. Just in time to get his new album out. This is definetly exploitation on his part, regardless of his politcal views.

I'd listen to Kanye about the governement like I'd listen to Bush about what is good rap music. Help the people, "you're people" so you say, and get off your soap box. When you're driving down the street in your Bentley that was paid for by all the poor black people in New Orleans buying your records, make sure everyone knows that it's Bush's fault they're poor. I'd be interested to see how much Kanye has given back to "his people".

KANYE WEST COMMENTS:

WHY FUCK IS THIS DUMB-ASS MONKEY ON TV ANYWAY. HE CAN'T EVEN MAKE A COMPLETE COHERENT SENTENCE.

THIS IS AMERICAN POPULAR CULTURE AT IT'S FINEST. A VAST WASTELAND, DEVOID OF ANY SEMBLANCE OF INTELLIGENCE. WHERE THESE NIGGER CRETINS ARE GIVEN VALIDITY BY THE RUBBISH THEY PRODUCE AND MORONS WHO BUY IT...

THIS SHIT FOR BRAINS FUCKING MONKEY IS THE SPOKESPERSON FOR A GENERATION. MY GOD, HOW FRIGHTFUL IS AMERICA'S FUTURE.

WAKE UP AND VOTE FESTLER....

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
