Airstrikes Level Safehouse Containing Up To 50 Terrorists

Although I'm sure they'll claim again it was just a very enthusiastic "wedding party," in which the bride and groom exchange the ceremonial improvised explosive devices.

where up to 50 militants were believed to be hiding...alerted by local residents

Where up to 50 militants believed THEY were hiding.

Obviously, their "hide and seek" skills were not so good.

Note to self: keep locals happy when "hiding" from heavily armed war planes...hand out lots of Little Debbies and John Kerry bunper stickers...avoid asking farmers if you can date their sheep.

House go boom and a sudden need for maybe 3600 virgins. Sounds good to me.

Video. We want VIDEO!!

I looked at the time on the article and was surprised it hadn't made more of a splash. It seems like a fairly significant event to me. So I went out to Google News to scan the bulk. Only mention on the first page I saw was in a Washington Post article about the Iraqi constitution maneuvering. There were two sentences buried five paragraphs down, with no logical relationship to what preceded or followed.

And now back to our movie, "Quagmire", starring the WaPo and a cast of thousands of journalists.

Can't a terrorist organization even have a fall convention anymore without being pestered?

I wish there were some way to give such a group 10 seconds' warning so they could know we were about to bring the hammer down and would spend their last moments scattering in terror, yet without any chance to get away.

I think bombing is far too easy on them. I'd rather see the house shot to pieces like the hooker's house in The Gauntlet. A terrorist's life should by all rights end with at the very least of few minutes of sheer terror, not quick and painlessly like turning off the lights.

We should have flown over and sprayed some sort of sleeping gas...

...then sneak in and dress them all up so they looked like Boy George and posed them in compromising positions...

...then put in some hidden WebCams...

...and waited til they woke up.

I would have paid $5 to see their reaction.

If you'll remember, the occupants of that house both got away. I'm fine with the surprise bombing as long as the jihadis all die.

You're giving the terrorists credit for being as cool as Clint Eastwood, unlikely to say the least.

Posted by: bullwinkle on August 27, 2005 02:01 AM

The term "safehouse" would seem to be a misnomer.

Posted by: Jimmy "balls" McFadden on August 27, 2005 03:01 AM

They're cool - cooling down to ambient temperature right now.

Posted by: Tony on August 27, 2005 03:13 AM

Maybe it's just the fog of memeory, but I don't remember any Hooker House in Gauntlet.

Sure the Elf was turning tricks to get food, but he didn't need a full house for it.

Never send in a bullet if you can send in a BIG F"ING BULLET!

if they achieve ambient temperature, they'll be warming up

What is the UK Regime's plan for protecting the citizens from the savage criminals they've foisted on the populace? They offer NONE. They do, however, have a plan for protecting the savage criminals from the citizens: The citizens must STAY CALM and not get angry and not share videos of citizens being attacked by savage criminals.
The public keeps saying "protect us from the foreign savages you have imported against our wishes and over our objections" and the UK branch of The Regime keeps proposing plans to protect the foreign savages from the public. Soclose to what the public is demanding, just, you know, the complete opposite.
Just a thought: Maybe you wouldn't have to worry about the public attacking the savage criminals if you actually introduced a plan to protect the public from the savage criminals. Maybe they wouldn't feel as if it was necessary for them to protect the public through self-help.
