Al Jazeera: US Troops, Not Al Qaeda, Behind Bombing of ChildrenAlthough I try to distinguish between Islamicists and civilized Muslims, the fact that a popular Muslim broadcasting network reports this sort of paranoid, "it's always someone else's fault" lunacy makes it hard. posted by Ace at 02:11 PM
Commentsfyi - "Important note: Aljazeera Publishing and Aljazeera.com are not associated with the controversial Arabic Satellite Channel known as Jazeera Space Channel TV station whose website is Aljazeera.net." Posted by: rw on July 18, 2005 03:17 PM
Ace, "Some guy who didn't want to be named said..." "An Iraqi captain who, also by the way doesn't want to be named said..." Sigh. Yeah, I can believe that. ... Come on people. Is there fucking anything else you have to say? Are there any other fucking options in explaining the world and how it works other than it's all the fault of the USA, Bush, all Republicans, the Jews, Christians, and white males, but mostly the Jews? Everything. All the time. No.Matter.What. Same conclusion. Over and over and over and over. Could these benighted writers, intellectuals, academics, politicos, and celebrities, consider once, for a second, that there might be some other fucking force or idea in the world? Anything? Just once? Grrrrrrr. Posted by: MeTooThen on July 18, 2005 03:27 PM

Let al-Jazeera stand as corpus vile for the U.S. media. We have opportunity to make a spectacular example of al-Jazeera in ways that we cannot easily make an example of our own media and, indeed, shouldn't wish to. There's no First-Amendment protection for al-Jazeera; they have no citizenship rights whatsoever, and I confess I don't give a damn anymore as to whether they have any rights as human beings. Let al-Jazeera be dismantled as a warning to Reuters, CNN, the AP, the BBC, the NYT, and whatever is left of CBS. Arafel Posted by: Arafel on July 18, 2005 04:59 PM
Well, part of the intellectual problem is hypersensitivity by Zionists and Israel-backers to any criticism, no matter how well-founded. Which of course leads to their accusation that anyone against the annual welfare check to Israel, Israel selling top-secret US defense technology to Israel, or the Settlements - is of course a believer in the Zionist Global Domination Conspiracy Theory. Which of course has had marvelous results as Zionists accuse just about everyone on the planet of anti-Semitism "It's alll about the Joooooooooos!!" Which hasn't exactly made friends and influenced people in countries once on friendly terms with Israel - Canada, the Netherlands, Chile, Japan, Greece... Posted by: Cedarford on July 18, 2005 05:01 PM
Erratum: Should be: Israel selling top-secret US defense technology to China BTW, CNN announced that Al Jazeera is going global with Al Jazeera International. AJI will be a 130 nation media effort where the majority of broadcasts will be in English, Arabic, Spanish and offered on cable as well as to satellite subscribers. Al Jazeera is popular out there in the world? You mean that same world that LOVES "Baywatch" and considers David Hasselhoff to be a pop star? The same world that still considers Michael Jackson to be a humanitarian? The only difference between "regular Al Jazeera" and new, improved "Cherry Vanilla Al Jazeera" is that they'll be lying in English now, instead of Arabic. If we would just take their damned sattelite out, they would be lucky to broadcast inside of that sandspit called Qatar. Posted by: Len - KC on July 18, 2005 08:43 PM
The arabs seem not to be able to resist any invitation to a big pity party. Cedarford: Israel is the only Western democracy whose very existence is considered by progressives to be negotiable. Every Islamic dictatorship--if that isn't redundant--of course finds it political profitable to openly howl for Jewish blood. We're down to brass tacks nowadays, and I stand with Israel, warts and all. Posted by: The Sanity Inspector on July 18, 2005 10:04 PM
Aljazeera.net and Aljazeera.com are 2 very different websites. I'm pretty sure that .net is affiliated with Al Jazeera broadcasting, who is behind the .com? There's plenty to dislike in the Islamist world without stooping to their shitty level. Posted by: Jeff Sobel on July 19, 2005 02:17 AM
Dude--easy. Do you want other countries judging us by what airs on CNN? How many Brits like the way they're portrayed by the BBC? Posted by: El Conquistadore on July 19, 2005 02:40 AM

Media bias and senationalism are as old as, well, the media:
![]() That was written by Denny O'Neill and illustrated by, get this, Frank Miller. Editor to the Stars Jim Shooter was in charge at the time. I always thought the gag was original to the comic book, but in fact the "Threat or Menace" headline was a satirical joke about media bias and sensationalism for a long while. The Harvard Lampoon used it in a parody of Life magazine: "Flying Saucers: Threat or Menace?"

But here's the Illinois gerrymander he supports.

ANOTHER LEFT WING ASSASSIN ATTEMPTS TO KILL TRUMP
If I understand this, the left-wing Democrat assassin attempted to get into the White House Correspondents Association dinner, and was stopped at the magnetometers, which detected his gun. I guess he pulled out the gun and was shot by Secret Service agents. Erika Kirk was present.
