Evil? The Left Isn't Quite Sure

Via Malkin:

- the root causes of terrorism are what needs to be addressed in order to get a handle on changing these circumstances. There are myriads (literally) of terrorists who have reasons for what they are doing and planning on doing? This is not insanity. Nor is it helpful to attach the term "evil" to these events. Shock and awe is perhaps the best description of what happened in London this morning, but that strikes a little to close to home doesn't it? What do you think are the various reasons for their actions and how can we address them?

No, only Karl Rove is truly evil.

This, on the other hand, is just folks doing what they have to do to stand up for themselves:

bvictim.jpg

Not sure if the man's face was shredded by flying glass or scorched and disfigured by bomb-fire, but I'm sure he'll be comforted to know that his maiming was done for "reasons" that we really should begin "addressing."

The callous viciousness of these lunatics is appalling. And I say that in full realization that I am in Andrew Sullivan outrage mode.

The amazing thing is that these people spend so much time whining about truly fictititious threats -- like KKKarl Rove's Men in Black carting them off to Gitmo for daring to vote Democratic.

But when a real attack occurs, and people are killed and disfigured, they're strangely... understanding.

Perhaps they should just bear in mind that Bush has "reasons" for doing what he does, too. It's part of his culture, after all. Like the Islamofascists, the WASPs in the United States have historical grievances against the world, and have seen their once mighty influence wane through the years. They've even lost some of their greatest bastions of power, just as the Arabs lost Spain.

Partly to those crafty Jews, in fact. Harvard and Princeton used to be Protestant bastions with quotas on Jewish applicants; now, dang, the places are lousy with Jews. And Indians. And Asians. And etc.

So, DUmmies... please, use some of the empathy you have for Al Qaeda terrorists -- empathy which seems in infinite supply -- to consider the poor case of George Bush and his band of aggrieved religious lunatics as well.

If only this wisdom had been available 60 years ago, we could have avoided WW II by understanding the reasons Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and addressing them.

I mean, if we give Hitler Czechoslovakia, what possible reason would he have to go to war? We can achieve piece in our time, and all get a nice quiet sleep.

Oh man, that is a good one! Made me laugh out loud.

The slave revolt in morality begins when the resentment itself becomes creative and gives birth to values: the resentment of those beings who are prevented from a genuinely active reaction and who compensate for that with a merely imaginary vengeance. While all noble morality grows out of a triumphant self-affirmation, slave morality from the start says No to what is "outside," "other," "a non-self". And this No is its creative act. This transformation of the glance which confers value—this necessary projection towards what is outer instead of back into itself—that is inherent in resentment. In order to arise, slave morality always requires first an opposing world, a world outside itself.

Oh, for the love of all that's good and sane.
Speak the Queen's English, man.

Since I got out of college I don't trudge through that stuff anymore.

George Galloway has an answer.

Posted by: California Conservative on July 7, 2005 02:02 PM

It's the Eloi vs. the Morlocks, with the Eloi convinced that the Morlocks' predations will stop once they've been enlightened. Unfortunately the Morlocks are immune to the Eloi's charms - they'll keeping noshing on the occasional Eloi until they've gathered the resources to overturn the hierarchy.

Meanwhile the Eloi attempt to preserve their illusion of tranquility by doggedly ignoring any evidence which threatens their world view.

It's good that you're in Andrew Sullivan outrage mode, Ace, because HE sure isn't. His blog is full of pip-pip old boy, we'll put on the kettle and have a nice cuppa tea reminiscences of the Blitz. Is it maybe time to DO something now? Oh, no, let's just go to the pub and have a beer - that'll show the Islamoholics what they're up against! His own people have been slaughtered in their own streets, and he can't get over the thrill of English stoicism - something the Americans don't have, incidentally.

Posted by: Wanda on July 7, 2005 02:15 PM

Wanda's right. There needs to be a new bottom level on the Freak-out Advisory, in ultra-violet, labeled "Stoic." What a fitting moment for him to reach that state of equanimity.

The Left is just running the usual play of the Vision of the Annointed. They want power over YOU, pure and simple, and will lie, cheat and step all over the graves of murdered to get it.

This shouldn't come as a surprise...

Posted by: on July 7, 2005 02:59 PM

Next we'll be hearing about how any attempts to 'kill the bastards' in an indiscriminate fashion makes us 'just as bad as them'. The irony being that the left never seems to think they are all that bad when they do it.

Of course, their use of the phrase indicates that the know the terrorists are in the wrong, they just aren't eager to support any kind of force, political or otherwise against them. To do so would lend support to the Bush agenda and frankly, they would rather see dead civillians than do that. After all, there are elections coming up don't ya know.

Question their patriotism? Of course, after all, isn't it brave to ask the difficult questions? I'm just showing my liberal courage.

How about the best line ever from LoTR?

"Those who do not have swords may yet die upon them."

Posted by: NickS on July 7, 2005 03:09 PM

The Corner has some quotes of lefty responses that sound like this:
"But...but...they interrupted the G8! And the G8 was about poverty! We are trying to help them! Because terrorism is only because of poverty! Why don't they get this??"

Once they get ovetr that dissonance, then they'' get back to the blame America stuff, then it will be back to business as usual.

I don't know what it owuld take for them to open their eyes.

Posted by: brak on July 7, 2005 03:17 PM

Oh their eyes are open, they just don have the grey-matter to process what they're seeing.

Posted by: Iblis on July 7, 2005 03:22 PM

They want to be martyrs? Let them. The Templar commander at Bezziers said, "Neca eos omnes. Deus suos agnoset!" Kill them all. God will know his own.

For every bombing against a civilian target, we turn one Arab city into a sheet of glass, without warning and with extreem prejudice. Start with Mecca, Ryiad, and Damascas, and work outwards. Somebody, somewhere will sue for peace.

Or not.

How many besides myself see this atrocity and mutter, "Thank you, Zapatero. Idiot. Bastard. Chump."

ANOTHER LEFT WING ASSASSIN ATTEMPTS TO KILL TRUMP
If I understand this, the left-wing Democrat assassin attempted to get into the White House Correspondents Association dinner, and was stopped at the magnetometers, which detected his gun. I guess he pulled out the gun and was shot by Secret Service agents.
Erika Kirk was present.

Important Message from Recent Convert to Christianity and Yet Super-Serious Christian Tuq'r Qarlson: Actually Muslims love Jesus, it's Trump and his neocons who hate him
Tucker Carlson Network
@TCNetwork

The people in charge [Jews, of course -- ace] don't want you to know this, but Muslims love Jesus.

Islam reveres Him as a major prophet and messenger of the Lord, believes He performed miracles, and states that He will return to Earth to defeat the Antichrist. That's why Donald Trump's painting depicting himself as the Son of God offended the president of Iran. It was an attack on his religion as well as Christianity.

Trump's trolling tweet was ill-advised, but Tucker is just lying when he claims the Christianity-hating President of Iran was "offended" by this.
He's one step away from announcing his official conversion to Islam. He literally never stops praising Islam. Well, he suddenly became Christian two years ago, there's not much stopping him from converting again.
You can track Tuq'r's official conversion to Islam with this Bingo card.

Politico is reporting that multiple people have abruptly resigned from Eric Swalwell's gubernatorial campaign: "Members of senior leadership have departed the campaign, including Courtni Pugh, a strategic adviser who served as Swalwell's top liaison to organized labor groups."

So the campaign is collapsing due to the truth of the sexual harassment allegations.

This is super-obscure and I only barely remember it. Given that, I'll give you the hint that it's by the Red Rocker.

Oh, but it's alright with me now

Now twenty people will tell me it's not obscure, it was huge in their hometown and played at their prom. That's how it usually goes. When I linked Donnie Iris's "Love is Like a Rock," everyone said they knew that one and that his other song (which I didn't know at all) Ah Leah! was huge in their area.
